  1. Hi, I'm running 3 studios all with 2018 Mac Pros - all on Catalina - but in one studio we have a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 set up. For our Atmos work up-until now we have been using Protools with the Dolby renderer. With the new version of Logic having Dolby Atmos (spacial audio) built-in - as a logic user I now want to check this out - but all my studio computers are on Catalina (so I can't use the latest ver of logic) and are very happy that way - SO - I thought I'd update my 2017 Mac book pro i7 (16GB RAM) to the latest OS and Logic and see if it could handle an atmos session. All was ok until I started adding 7.1.4 reverbs (cinematic rooms) - and the computer just couldn't handle it. In about a year I'll look at replacing all my Mac Pros with the new M1 Mac Pros - but until then - I was thinking of buying a Mac mini M1 8GB machine only to do Atmos mixes and play around in logic and atmos. All my Atmos mixes are dealing with audio files only - no audio instruments. Hardly any processing really - just 7.1.4 reverbs and delays. Would this M1 Mac mini handle it? TIA
  2. I've been meaning to ask to ask this for a while - in logic I import a movie - but - after the movie has ended - we still see the end frame if you carry on playing. Is there any way in logic - to see black when the movie has in fact finished.... TIA
  3. Thanks - I was reading that article yesterday. Trying to get my head around on how Logic 10.6 uses beds. As you can't create a 7.1.4 bed Chanel I think? How are guys here using Logic 10.6 and Atmos? I can see how a purely object based mix session could work - using the music panner. But how would I create a reverb bed for example?
  4. Hi, I'm just about to delve into Atmos using Logic Pro 10.6. I know 10.7 has Atmos integrated - but I can't upgrade to 10.7 for a while as 10.7 needs the latest Mac OS Any good tutorials or resources to take me through using Atmos in 10.6. We've got a Atmos room here - and we've done the Avid Dolby Atmos course using Protools - and of course have all the tools - the renderer and panner etc. Just wanting to get a good basic overview onsetting up logic 10.6 for Atmos. TIA, Adam.
  5. Yeah - definitely do a time machine back up - then you should just be able to run the 10.5.1 from applications
  6. No problem - here is Logic 10.5.1 I also have Logic 10.4.7 - just shout if anyone needs https://we.tl/t-fM9Crb5Eup
  7. Thanks guys - yes - I also now see it only happens in the inspector - not the mixer - which I can live with!
  8. Hi, I have a new mouse - Magic Mouse. When hovering on a fader - and I scroll - it moves the fader. How do I disable this function. TIA, Adam.
  9. Hi Andrew, I do have a copy of 10.5.1 - Whats your email - I'll send you a link Adam.
  10. Thank you for the information. We were testing this using some library music which seems to show quite an increase in level. We then compared that to some of our own mixes and there is still an increase but not as drastic. The information you have given us makes sense and we now understand what is going on. Thanks again
  11. No I am rolling off using the high pass filter. Making sure the Q is below 1.00. By default the high pass Q is set to 0.71. Even after lowering the Q to its lowest value of 0.10 we still have the same problem with level exceeding 0db on the master channel.
  12. Hi There I have noticed a problem on my master channel when loading logic's factory default channel EQ. If I pull in a mastered track and play it back, the levels don't go above 0db which is correct as the file has been limited. I then load channel EQ onto the master channel and all is fine and remains at 0db BUT as soon as I start to roll-off the bottom end at about 50hz onwards, the master channel level suddenly shoots up above 0db. Why is the level increasing when simply rolling off the low end? There are no boosts on the graph and the channel EQ overall gain has remained untouched - at 0db. Am I missing something? Thank you
  13. OK - I made it work - I realised that on my Mac book pro - I had Logic 10.5 - so I archived that and installed it very easily on my Mac Pro running Mojave - and it works. I'll stick on Logic Pro 10.5 on Mojave for now...
  14. So I made a backup of the Logic 10.4.7 app because I took it off the computer. It was easy to re-install logic. If someone has a backup of Logic 10.5 - this should also install no problems shouldn't it? In that case - does someone maybe have a backup of Logic the 10.5 app? The I could install that on my Mojave OS?
