  1. BAM...that's it. For some reason setting to "all" in the inspector isn't working, but switching to "1" has activated the midi notes again. Thanks!
  2. Yes, sir, that's the current setting. The track itself plays notes from my controller and the piano roll's mini-keyboard with no problems. It's the region itself that won't play, including the individual notes.
  3. My drummer pal played some sweet grooves over a song I sent him. Now I want to import the midi of that session into my own track so I can use his grooves with my own drum libraries. Copying these drum tracks to a new track (Butch Vig Drums in Kontakt Player, specifically) isn't working. When I open the piano roll and play the piano bar on the left side I hear the sounds I want, but clicking the individual drum notes themselves gets me silence. Can anyone tell from the image of the session my drummer sent me what kind of tracks these are? I thought they were simply midi tied to one of the Logic drum plugins, but doesn't seem to be the case. The drummer's tracks are the bottom three in the image, the exact Logic session he emailed me.
  4. Thanks for the response. I think I figured out the problem in this case. I've messed around with this tune so many times over the years I had created some hidden DUPLICATE tracks with regions containing nothing but automation data. So while I was deleting all automation data on the existing track, I wasn't seeing the hidden automation data on the duplicate track. Found it, deleted it, peace in the universe once more!
  5. I saved a new version of an old song and deleted all the volume automation on each track (using the eraser tool, mostly) so I could create a new mix. Things went well for awhile, but now I seem to have several random places where the volume changes to some preset level I don't want. I've tried going to mix--delete track automation, and no change. Sometimes the automation changes happen in, say, measure 5 of the tune, even though the tracks don't kick in until measure 62. Is it something to do with the track/region button? I'm not too familiar with it, though I tried toggled it, turning it on and off. Problem still persists. I've examined all the tracks having this problem and there are no automation nodes as far as I can tell. Currently using version 10.4.6. Hoping someone else has dealt with this insanity. Thanks.
  6. Using the latest version of X, as I got it a few weeks ago, and the last version of 9 before moving on to ten...can't remember the version. But you're right, I should try exporting the tracks as audio files first. My brain was telling me freeze would be quicker.
  7. I have a song in Logic 9 that I opened in Logic X and realized some Kontakt drum tracks were missing, along with a couple cool vocal fx created with Space Designer. I still have my old Mac with Logic 9 on it, so I opened up the old session and selected freeze tracks for everything. I see all the frozen tracks in their folder, but they're not playing in the session. I'm basically stuck on the same problem. How can I get those frozen tracks playing in the session?
  8. The way the tech explained it I can't run Logic 7 on my current Mac, which is a late 2013 iMac 27. And Logic 9 is no longer compatible on High Sierra. But hey, if there is someone out there still running Logic 7 who can convert two songs I'll get them a coffee card.
  9. As expected, I get the message saying I need to open & save the project in Logic 7.2 before it can open in X. I spent a little time with an Apple tech, but the best solution was to simply import the audio tracks...which would be a bunch of takes I'd need to sort through. Hoping someone has a suggestion in getting (at least) this song opened with some organization. I don't mind losing plugin settings, but having to organize a bunch of takes is a bit more of a headache. But I suppose it's better than losing everything. Thanks?
  10. Gotta credit the randomizing function for some of that.
  11. Fun to share...and a nice change of pace for a dude that takes too much!
  12. Logging in some ES2 experimentation time, came up with about a dozen ideas I can actually use. Cheers. ! ES2_keithmoore.zip ES2 patches
  13. And since you mention Guitar Rig, have you tried Rammfire? AMAZING, fat metal tone. It's optimized to the Rammstein dude's rig, so maybe it's not your cup of tea, but I've always been underwhelmed at getting a quality virtual metal tone within Logic until I picked that one up on Cyber Monday last year.
  14. No signal at all? Then if you plug a guitar into the same track it works? Check the channel strip in Logic, make sure the right input is selected? Gain knobs up, volume up, etc.? Are you using Logic's bass amp? Try different settings? Factory reset on the Saffire? I've had weird problems over the years with my Motu 828mkii that were solved by doing that.
  15. Let's see... Frame rate = 23.98 Logic's frame rate = 25 (ah-ha?) SMPTE start time = 00:00:10:18.07 1st event = 00:00:13:05.02 There's no timecode in the leader, which is labeled "sonnyboo countdown leader" in one of the frames before the 8 count drops down to 2. There is no pop at the 2 second mark. My current bug is that the movie still won't play when I start up the arrange window. In fact, stills of the film don't appear in the global tracks/video header. I press play and the audio starts, but the film is stuck in the beginning frame of the leader. Yeah, never work to a rough cut. I didn't know this was rough! Thanks!
