  1. I dont know why I didnt think of that! It was so obvious. The 32bit vs 64bit. Thanks fuzzfilth
  2. Thank you for the quick reply. That will definitely work, but it is still time consuming. I guess I could use this method and just convert the files as needed. I wish I knew the reason why the new Sampler was not working with my files. thank you
  3. I searched the forum before posting, and did not find an answer to my question. If this has been answered before then I apologize. I just upgraded my OS to Catalina and my version of Logic to 10.5.1. I have successfully placed my gigasamples files in the correct folder in that I can see them populate in the Sampler menu drop down list. The problem is when I select a gigasample, Logics Sampler will not convert it. It doesn't matter if the .gig file is directly on the main hard drive or if it is aliased to another. The Sampler program will see it but not convert it. Now heres what works but is a hassle. I have an older mac and am able use my older version of Logic to convert the gigasample files into exs24. I then import them into the new computer and then Sampler will read them. I have a lot of gigasamples so this is not an ideal method. Additionally, as everyone knows, there is no batch conversion in any version of Logic. I also do not want to spend 160$ on Chickensys Translator for a one time batch conversion. What would be great is to figure out why this latest iteration of the EXS24 Sampler does not convert, even though the manual says it does. Any suggestions or insight is appreciated.
  4. I score a lot of virtual reality content and I'm unable to view the video properly in Logic Pro X. As far as I know there is only one plugin that address 360 video a for D.A.W. The FB360 plugin that allows users to view footage in a proper 3D setting only works with Pro-Tools HD, Reaper and Nuendo. After extensive research I found out that you can use the metaplugin DDMF to get FB360 to work in Logic. However, FB360 requires you to have surround channels in the arrange window. I do not want surround channels (or have to use a wrapper for that matter) I'd just like to view the VR/360 video as a 3d viewing program would (like Kolor Eyes) within Logic. Can anyone help?
  5. Thank you both! Both of your answers were very helpful!
  6. I apologize if this is a thread elsewhere, however I personally couldn't find what I was looking for. I have scoured the internet and this forum to find out if it's possible to partially protect midi tracks in Logic X. I have a lot of projects that I work on that are averaging 8 and half minutes in length. Due to the projects being so long, from time to time a section in earlier parts of the project will get quantized into an unwanted sub-beat. ( I didn't notice that I had accidentally highlighted the entire track and not just the part I wanted quantized) Then when I save and exit the program, I'll review my previous days work, and hear that I changed the track. Obviously by then it's too late to hit command -z! What I would love to be able to do is protect midi tracks from being quantized when I'm finished with them. I know I could create 2 of each instrument and protect the midi that way, but that is unnecessary use of my CPU and memory. I would like to compose then protect a midi section and then keep composing on the same track. Is this possible? Thanks
  7. I'm debating whether or not to get my Logic 9 certification. I already know it pretty well and I get calls here and there to help people set up their systems. However my question is, Is it worth getting the certification. I've looked for jobs and it seems like you would still be having to hustle and get gigs even after you have it. Do you get more work with it and if so where do you apply for those jobs. If anyone has any thoughts on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
  8. Hey Everyone, I just helped my friend install Logic 9 on Snow Leopard and everything is going good except for getting the Word Builder for the East West Symphonic Choirs to work properly. I know you have to open Word Builder as a stand alone app, outside of Logic and then you open the environment window in Logic to view it, but I don't know how to link the word builder from the Physical Input box to the Play module within the environment. Anybody know how to do that? Thanks in advance... this forum has saved my ass many a times.
  9. thanks davey boy I appreciate your help!! I will look into the VSL. It's a good place to start:-)
  10. Hey Everyone or Anyone I just helped my friend put together an awesome Logic system. I'm using the Apogee Ensemble as the interface, and an 8 core mac (with leopard not snow leopard) as the os. The 8 core was built with the fastest processors and the most amount of ram which is 32 gigs. Anyway my point behind posting that information is because my friend wants there to be no lag time between opening projects. He's currently using Bidule with all of his stand alone samplers in a general template as a way to open project files without having to wait for each sample/sampler to load. Now we just purchased logic 9 and I'm not a fan of Bidule.(I'd like to discontinue using it) Is there a way for logic 9 to have all of your east west or whatever stand alone samplers to stay open in logic, kind of like it's own internal bidule/vst/au host while you cycle through different project files in logic 9? The help would be much appreciated. Thanks,
  11. Not sure if this has been mentioned else where but a reminder can always be useful. The way I A/B mixes in Logic 8 is to have my 2 audio tracks on the arranged window with one audio track selected/highlighted Then I press "S" on my keyboard to solo the track Then I press the "space bar" to obviously play the music I then press "S" again and then quickly press "M" on the keyboard This un-solo's then mutes the highlighted track which then engages the other mix on the arrange window Then I hit "M" again and then quickly hit "S" (you get the picture Lather, Rinse,Repeat) Unfortunately there is latency or lag between the engaging and un-engaging of the tracks but I find this to be the far simplest and streamlined way to a/b mixes Hope that helpsjavascript:emoticon(':D')
