  1. Bump! I guess everyone is using sound forge for this kinda thing?
  2. Hej Im wondering if anyone here is splicing drum hits together in Logic and if so, what is their workflow. Just to make myself clear, i am not talking about layering drum hits on top of each other and filtering etc.My process is to take the click from one kick, the mid from another, and then the boom from another and actually splice them together in one audio file. I cant seem to do this in the arrange page as the detail of the waveforms isnt really good enough. I started using the sample editor. So at the moment i glue the regions i want to splice in the arrange page and then open them in the sample editor. Then I can cut the audio down in there to get them to line up so the waveform is unbroken and nice and smooth. Problem is, it is not very flexible. You can not easily move things around to see if they work. Is anyone doing this in Logic? Would be great to get some tips. Cheers Jack
  3. Hi I am having a problem with logic remembering my controller assignments. Well the control assignments are remembered. But they just dont work when i reboot the computer. Im using a Korg Nanokontrol. I didnt really understand this thread fully. But will this fix that problem? Do i need to reset my audio midi setup so that My NanoKontrol is always in the same place on the usb bus??Sorry, im not fully understanding this thread and how to implement this solution into my workflow. Cheers Jack
  4. hmm sorry im not sure what u mean. Are the flex markers different in space?. When I have everything flexed, there is no problem, just when i try to render.FYI not sure if i was clear. cheers m8
  5. Hi I have a multitrack drum recording. 8 tracks. Using flex i have quantized the audio. All is sounding dandy so far. Then I glue the region to a new region to the right of my flexed audio to consolidate each track, All the flex edits are committed. Great. no problemo. Except when i play back i can hear the phase of the tracks is now screwed. Audio sounds completely different. It is still quantized and maintains the flex edits but the hihat and cymbals especially sound really phasey. Any ideas? Cheers Jack
  6. Thanks for your help/Using the right key commands. I will try re-detecting transients and see if that works next time this happens. Its really weird because it just happens every now and then.
  7. No that definitely isn't the problem. Thanks though. It just seems to be pretty random. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I am wondering is it possible I am using the wrong key commands? What do most people use to make tab to transient behave as closely as possible to the similar pro tools function( that is pretty spot on all the time)
  8. tab to transient, using the marquee tool. Sometimes it works fine, other times when I forward by transient right arrow button, it goes right to the end of the region and misses all the transients. what am I doing wrong? Cheers Jack
  9. Oh also, sometimes you don't need to put anything in the gap you just created, if it is really small, and you cut it exactly, you wont hear it. Another option is also to cut the click out and move the region to the right straight onto the region you just cut, aka shuffle mode. Just make sure you line it up visually so it looks right. I have had to do this loads as I have edited foley recordings, lots of clicks and pops in the clothing tracks. so I had lots of practice at this sort of thing. Actually I spent days just editing clicks and pops, odd sounds etc. But i used Pro tools. But techniques should work in logic.
  10. Its really hard to get rid of clicks and pops in Logic, reason being, at least on my computer, the swipe function is not really accurate enough. In Pro tools it really seems to work better so you can really nail exactly where the click is. Maybe is my computer though. Something that has worked for me in the past, zoom in the arrange page and find the click as best you can, cut the click out making sure you cut as small as possible at zero crossings, you could also make sure snap to zero crossings is turned on. So you should have a really tiny tiny gap in your audio, now find a another tiny tiny piece of audio within the region with similar properties (visually) to the tiny piece you just cut out, so it lines up with what is already there. I found this can work better than actually drawing on top of the wave itself in the sample editor. Sometimes! if you have pro tools, I would do the job there.
  11. FYI I have tried every buffer size, nothing makes a difference once a project goes this way. I think, well I can t prove it, but my hunch, is that maybe you add a plugin and for some reason logic does not compensate for it or does not compensate enough, so everything gets thrown out the window timing wise from that point on.
  12. Hey I have had similar problems before. Its a nightmare! Logic argh!!! Do you have any plugins on the master bus? If so, take them all off, disabling won't do the trick for some reason. Also, try low latency mode when recording, sometimes this works also. I have found that if the above does not work , the only thing I can do is actually remove all plugins in the project that are not logics internal plugs. Which is kinda crazy I know but this has worked out for me in the past. Most of the time its the master bus that seems to throw everything out, or if I have a ton of aux's. Another option is to import all the tracks into a new project, this has worked for me before. I have found over the last few years that logics delay compensation does not really work as you would hope it to. If you really listen , you can hear it, I thought I was going crazy for a while, the groove of my songs just felt a little bit out, parallel compression didnt really sound right,( and yes i have delay compensation turned on) not anything anyone else would notice really, but I was right, when I bounced my auxes and checked if everything lined up exactly, it was a fraction off. Argh. So its all a bit wonky I think. Anyhow I hope some of my tips work out for you
  13. Hej -3db compensated. Apply Pan Law Compensation to Stereo Balancers is ticked on. Thanks for your help , really do appreciate it.
