  1. Hey guys thought we make a thread on best mixing tips. Here's one of my favorites. Cut off everything from 150HZ to 200HZ and below, sweep it till it sounds right. It will get rid of any unwanted low end. I do this right away to all my mixes. Any members please chime in and give your favorite mixing tips for a clearer and better mix. Please give your best mixing tips you've learned in all the years you've been making and mixing music.
  2. Great thanks for the heads up, leaning towards the TLM 102, can get wrong with a Neumann. Also recommended a lot.
  3. Hey Guys, What tips can I do for panning tracks/channels/instruments when mixing. What techniques are used for panning when mixing? I hear it's is all about levels, EQ, and panning for mixing, than add effects, reverbs, delays, compressors if necessary. What are your best tips for using PANNING as a technique for mixing?
  4. Thank you sir! Always helpful and always learn a whole lot from your posts.
  5. Hello Guys, Just curious to see how everyone sets up there logic session for mixing? or the best way to set up Logic for mixing. What do you guys do first? I mainly just make music in the box with Logic and use AU than mix straight from there, I don't convert the midi to audio. Looking to I improve my mixing skills and organizational skills for mixing in the box with Logic. - name all the tracks - color the regions or tracks - organize the tracks from drums to bass, to lead synths, transition fx ext also how does everyone set up auxes for reverb, delays' and other fx. How about groups? how can I about setting groups up -Grouping drums to one master fader. -Vocals grouping to one fader Also as far as setting all the Channel faders, is a good start reference point -18db? Should I be starting all my compositions at -18db? or can they be kept at unity 0? I've heard that and read that you should start mixing from -18 and than bring up all the faders later in the mix. Can anyone please clarify where the faders should be at? I'd like to make a thread on picture screenshot or for people to make up templates ready for mix down in Logic. I'd love to get some feedback from all you professional experienced producers and engineers. Any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!
  6. Hello guys what microphone do you recommend for recording vocals and acoustic guitars? any range from $150-$1000 Will be for a home basement studio environment passing through an Apogee Duet.
  7. Hello All, As far as I know or from what I have learned you really need to train your ears and have the right gear to master your tracks correctly. I would like to know if there are any decent Mastering stock plug-ins in Logic or Waves and settings that will make my Tracks sound as loud as the ones on RADIO. Any recommendations on plugins and settings to throw on the master and give the record a basic and simple mastering that will sound great? Any input or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  10. I downloaded a couple of the pst. files, and I made a folder with the name and put them in the {Home}/Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/{Name-of-plug-in}/. folder I opened Logic, but I don't know where or how I can open up the pst. files I downloaded. Anyone know what I have to do? or what I am doing wrong. I tried searching and looking for the pst. files but could not find them. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  11. I recently updated to the latest software firmware Logic 9.02 and now Logic is asking for the previous serial numbers. I put them in corectly, but they don't work. The question I have is that If I delete and uninstall Logic 9 and than re-install it, will all the AU I currently have installed still work and still be there once re-install logic or will they be gone? O

  13. Hello Guys, I recently bought a new i5 iMac 27 inch CPU. I have logic 9 but I misplaced the content DVD (Jam Packs, Sound FX, LOOPS, EXT) Can I install just Logic 9 for now, and than install the content disc when I find it? Or will it not let me do that in the future? I did backup the content on my EXTERNAL HD. I was thinking of maybe dragging the content from my EXT HD. Will that work? I'm really excited for my new iMac haaha, just want to install and start working on music on it right away! Can't wait.
  14. Hey thanks for the info. I actually used migration assistant to transfer my old MacBook Pro setting to the new i5 iMac. All program and software were transferred over but everything needs to be authorize and serials to be added. Also how did you get your CPU to read your tascam fw-1082? Logic or my computer won't recognize my tascam fw1082z I read that there's no drivers for it and it won't work with snow. Can you let me know how you got it to work with yours. My m-audio Axiom 61 controller doesont even work. Logic and Audio/midi setup can't find it or recognize it. This situation has been a nightmare for me. I'm hoping I get the information and help to get everything up and going and working.
