  1. I bought an iMac in March this year - if I were running a studio business I’d have considered extra outlay on the 27” with SSD and plenty of memory an investment, but I had to make a compromise on cost so I opted for an internal 500 Gb SSD and the 21.5 “ model as a home user. It will last for a few years before I need to probably upgrade the whole machine anyway so I’m very happy. I have a couple of external SSD’s as well and I have to endorse the view that it’s a better storage solution than the fusion drive. My internal SSD has about a third capacity free after loading the Logic library and Kontakt factory content plus one or two others, I could always move some of it to the externals if necessary in future.
  2. Sorry, Alan, I understand your point - the other post was the first I came across, so I posted there in my excitement.
  3. This is a new video from Groove 3 - only posted today, looks pretty neat.
  4. Yeah! An extra dose of cool sound!! I must admit I noticed that too - I'm not sure what it says about us
  5. I must admit I'm struggling with that one myself - absolutely no offence intended to the original poster, there just seems to be a lot of questions like this lately. Do we really want our software to perform all our common editing decisions automatically in some way ? I can obviously understand a need for some particular batch processing processes but I'm afraid many of the current ideas are two or three second tasks. Just an observation, anyway, I'm not going to be over excited about it
  6. When the Create Track dialog appears and you choose 'Software Instrument', select 'Empty Channel Strip' where it says 'Instrument' and uncheck 'Open Library'. Unless you change it again, this becomes a new default. You just get an empty instrument channel strip this way, no buses etc. I found that initially very annoying too, fortunately its an easy solution.
  7. I think its better to just create the cycle range for the region and let Logic decide when any reverb/delay tails reach a zero point by ticking the appropriate 'include reverb tails' option in the bounce dialogue. Its easy to misjudge, Logic will do a better job. Just a thought.
  8. My Mac mini Server (as below) served me really well for audio applications for a number of years. Strangely, all subsequent models seemed to be a downgrade of that specification. I think there's really a place for a machine like that with an updated spec for a serious user, I suppose we'll have to see.
  9. Logic will have to follow the link on launch and recognise that the content is there, so I can’t see a way of not having the external drive attached without it attempting to perform the download process again, unfortunately.
  10. Thanks for your your response and the very useful link, prfekstranjer.
  11. Excellent- did you use the method described on the Apple page linked by Atlas, out of interest? I did look at it but I haven’t needed to try it out (yet).
  12. I think some of Gentle Giant’s songs in particular might give you a headache to tempo match, ha ha
  13. And, looking again 2 hours later, a page of html or similar. Maybe its site maintenance or reorganisation.
  14. Just to clarify- because its something I find personally really annoying, ha ha - the link took me to an irrelevant item when first tried but appears to link correctly now, one of those weird url glitches, I guess.
