  1. Hi, I was automating in track automation lanes (drawing lines and plotting exact values on them) on both machines and DAWs. Not using an external midi controller, but sculpting the automation parameters in the Synthi V plugin
  2. Replying to myself after investigating. It seems to be a Logic problem with the handling Arturias parameters. Tested automation with a M1 Macbook Pro and OS 11.7 with Logic Pro 10.7.4. Same result - stepping, not able to smoothly sweep the osc's freq. On both the old and new machines I'm able to automate the Synthi osc frequencies smoothly using Ableton Live. Strange.
  3. Using latest version of Arturia Synthi V in Logic. I am trying to modulate osc 2 and 3 frequency in Logic 10.4.4/Mac OSX 10.14.6 Mojave. I have turned off the quantize frequency switch, but Logic insist on stepping between pitches and not insert values nor sweeping freely. I.e freq 126 Hz - next possible value is 140Hz. I use the non-quantizing automation parameter (there is also a quantizing freq parameter, which I would use if I wanted this behaviour). Anybody used this combo of DAW and Synthi V? Using Synthi V ver 1.7.0.2880. Would be great if someone could load up Synthi and verify the problem, ev. prove me wrong
  4. Thx again you helpful people out there!
  5. Thx both of you, just had to doublecheck that the method is still valid with 3.4.1 - since the article is from 2017. Paranoia is part of the MainStage everyday life! But actually I've had more issues with my hardware synths through the years, knock on wood.
  6. Hi - is it still possible to upgrade to Logic 10.4.2 - after duplicating/archiving and KEEPING the old ver. 10.3.2 - and use them as alternatives? Or will the upgrade process break something in the oldest version? I am aware of the Studio Horns/Strings only being present in 10.4--> But will the old samples still be there? I've cloned my disk of course, just checking the water before diving in... (I asked about the same process in the MainStage forum, going from MS 3.2.4 to 3.4.1)

  8. For your info: after trying to breath life in my old Logic 9 Waveburner software (did not work on my old Mavericks partition) I ended up buying this: https://hofa-plugins.de/en/plugins/cd-burn-ddp-master/ Easy to use, and seems everything is fine. Can't really confirm before the CDs are pressed, though.
  9. Hi folks, a client wants me to convert master 44k/16-bit wav-files to image files (ready to produce audio-CDs) Quote: "The files should be following: Requirements for CD disc images to be sent by FTP Accepted and used for production disc images are: DDP 2.0, NRG, ISO. * CD-Audio – recommended disc image – DDP 2.0, .BIN/.CUE." I have burned Red Audio discs directly from Logic Pro X before, but is there a way to do this without a physical disc - directly to an image file?? There will be only 1 track per CD - approx. 17-30 minutes each, so it would be great to save some time...
  10. I'll probably wait until May anyway, need to have a predictable setup in the coming month. But, yes, guess all I can do is to jump in and see what happens. Keeping my cloned disk close....
  11. Hi there, as MS 3.3 requires at least OS X 10.10, I'm forced to upgrade my systems, starting with my live machine - a MBP 13" (2012). I am using SuperDuper to clone a backup (done already...), and I'm tempted to move forward with simply upgrading my OS from 10.9.5 Mavericks to 10.12.4 (Sierra) via Mac App Store. NOT making a clean install first....jumping over the not so tempting Yosemite (getting older, too, that one...) and El Capitan (buggy?) Does anybody of you MainStagers have some experience to share with me on upgrading this way - directly from Mavericks ->Sierra? I've got some really big instrument libraries (Komplete 10 Ultimate++) residing in the "shared" user folder - and all over the user library -, and by upgrading I hope to save hours of reinstalling. I'm aware of the benefits of clean installing, but since my system is pretty stable at the starting point, maybe the Force would be with me this time... BTW - just found the macOS Sierra 10.12.4 Combo Update, maybe that's the one to use? Thanks for sharing your experience on this!
  12. I stumbled on how to activate the "original" leslie switch in smart controls: While in Workspace view (in edit mode), select the "Vintage B3 organ smart controls with your mouse. The smart control will get a blue edge. Then take your mouse over the lower left wooden area of the smart controls - where you would normally place the leslie switch - and click to activate the switch. At first, only the blue edge will appear (but you can see the half moon shape). While the half moon edge is selected, go down to the Screen control inspector and map the switch to "Vintage B3 Organ/Rotor Cabinet/Rotor speed". Then the half-moon switch becomes visible! Hope I made myself clear, just ask if it doesn't work for you.
  13. Hi, I used to have a macbook with the same processor as you - C2D, 2,4Ghz. I now have both a 2012 dual i5 MBP 13", 2,5 Ghz w/16GB RAM - and a 2011 quad i7 MBP 15 2,0Ghz w/8GB RAM. Don´t be fooled by the clock speed - the quad-core i7 will give you the best CPU-perfomance. Beware, though, the 2011-models doesn't have usb 3.0 - but for me that was actually a plus - because there's been some trouble with audio/midi interfaces (misbehaving usb-drivers for the 3.0-ports). Check this if you go for the new i5. But for best performance - i7 2011 is your go. Dax
  14. Following up my own post here: After trying several old beta drivers, I stumbled upon a tip that made a difference: I connected my X-Station through a usb-2.0 hub. And - it worked! Both audio and midi at the same time. The hub probably forces the usb 3.0 port compatible with the 2.0 standard- but shouldn't it really be that anyway...? I am concerned of using an extra piece of gear (the hub) in a live situation - and maybe it means more latency? I'm still interested in experiences other MBP (2012, w/usb 3.0) owners use as Audio/Midi-interfaces together with MainStage/Logic!
