As you've probably gathered, there's no "right" way to do it. It depends on your goals. Personally, in most cases I like to track through the console with software monitoring disabled in LPX. I customize my transport bar so I can always see at a glance whether software monitoring is enabled or not.
Keep in mind that you can save not only save different Console sessions, but also the scribble strip in Console can be saved with each session it makes this process even smoother.
A few other tips: Unison plugs in Console are always printed, but you can chose whether other ones are printed or not. Keep track of this setting.
If you use effects on an aux in Console, but would like to print them, create a track stack in LPX that includes both the main track and the auxes. Then you can print but maintain separate mix control in LPX.
