  1. I wouldn't be surprised if in coming years, Logic, and other pro apps also appear on the iPhone. The difference being they only appear as a full app when the phone is plugged into an external display. Maybe all of iOS switches to macOS too.
  2. I must admit I'm finding this fun to use. I've been noodling away in a coffee shop this morning (via AirPods obviously, I'm not one of those speakerphone idiots) and it's surprisingly easy to pick up and start playing. It's clearly no way near being able to replace a studio setup, and never was, but as a sketching tool to put something together that can be opened in Logic, ready to edit with all the bells and whistles, it's really quite useful. Especially for version 1. I won't use it all the time, probably more for one-off subscriptions here and there when travelling or on holiday.
  3. Is the gap at the top of the mixer still there?
  4. The newer iPads also support external displays, with full screen apps at higher resolutions. If it’s a feature that continues to improve, it’s not inconceivable that users could travel around with Logic on their iPads, and plug in an external display for a more desktop-like experience when they need to.
  5. The more I think about it, the more the subscriptions make sense for Apple. Selling the iPad versions of Logic Pro (and Final Cut Pro) for hundreds of dollars is a no go. Even selling for $50-100 would probably put a huge chunk of potential customers off. There are exceptions, but apps generally seem to have a much lower price ceiling than desktop equivalents. A cheap subscription allows a much larger user base to dip in and out without having to outlay a lot of cash. Another benefit of subs for Apple is user data. They'll be able to see in much more detail who is using the app regularly. Which age groups and demographics continue to pay on a monthly basis, and which ones only sign up once in a while. This could influence which features they develop going forward.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple offers Logic on subscription at some point. But it's more than likely it will be in tandem with buying a perpetual license. It could be interesting if they created a 'Pro apps' subscription, similar to their Apple One service, where Logic/Final Cut/Motion etc are included - on all platforms - for a monthly fee.
  7. Here's hoping it's for a hitherto unheard-of magical feature that will make our lives complete. 😁
  8. Yes I can. The problem I find then is that the mixer window sometimes 'scrolls' if I move over it using my magic trackpad. As it thinks there is more content than there is. It's no biggie but can be a bit annoying when it happens.
  9. Here is an example of how my mixer looks, a great gap of dead space at the top of every channel. The mixer doesn't resize to fill that gap, and there are no hidden controls to account for it.
  10. I wondered that too. It’s about the size - maybe a bit bigger - as the space for the EQ thumbnail, so maybe there’s a new gizmo due to go there that isn’t complete yet.
  11. Not just me then! I used to be able to double-click the top of the mixer window which would automatically resize it to fit, but that seems to close it instead now.
  12. I'm not sure if this is a recent thing or if I've just noticed it, but does everyone else have a block of space at the top of mixer channels above the 'Setting' button? The top of the mixer always used to be flush with the top of the button; it seems like a lot of wasted space now.
  13. aaaaaaand it's not fixed. guess it's an issue with 3rd party plugins (they're all M1 versions though). not using much built in instruments so i can't really say I had so much trouble with Logic, hanging notes and plug-in’s not working correctly. It turned out it was enabling MIDI 2.0 in preferences that caused it.
  14. That’s odd, it’s working okay for me here. If you load a single SINE instrument articulation in Logic without keyswitches, does that work? Did you make the articulation sets yourself, or buy them? I bought some, and while most were fine, a lot for SINE actually had the wrong key switches (I could see the wrong key being pressed on the SINE keyboard). I shifted the switches in SINE and they worked. It’s certainly peculiar if putting the key switches in manually doesn’t work either.
  15. What's your take on Logic so far, coming from Studio One? I'm currently moving the other direction - not very pleased with Apple killing off Catalina in the latest updates for Logic and have been giving Studio One a pretty serious look. Loving Macros, Scenes, view filters, and search in S1. I've been using Logic all the time I've been using Studio One. I love the drag and drop workflow, but over the last year or so I've found myself drifting back towards Logic full time. Getting an M1 has solidified that. I couldn't really tell you why!
