  1. Hey guys, not sure if this is new in the new update or older but in my Mixer I now see under the Options menu "Change Track in Record Mode" and "Change Track in Play Mode". What are those options doing exactly?
  2. I can try, but not sure if you can send MIDI out of Reason through it? I haven't used Reason in a while so not sure how to do it. To use a IAC bus you want to go to your Audio MIDI Setup application which is in the Utilities folder inside the app folder and go to the MIDI window, you'll see the IAC driver. Double-click it and create a bus, and put the driver online or enable it. In Logic you don't have to do anything because Logic automatically recognizes any incoming MIDI data including IAC busses.
  3. I've rewired Reason into Logic a while back, but it was only doing MIDI from Logic to Reason, and Audio from Reason to Logic - which is what you already know how to do. I'm not sure if it's actually possible to route MIDI from Reason back into Logic using ReWire? If it's not you could try using IAC busses? If you can set the MIDI Out of Reason to an IAC bus, then you'll see it present in Logic, you'll just have to create a MIDI track and record on that.
  4. I agree with the comments - don't use two DAWs, you'll be spending more time figuring out how to go from one to the other instead of producing music. If you really absolutely need Pro Tools session file compatibility, then use Pro Tools and forget about Logic.
  5. I want to buy Final Cut Studio, the new latest version - I tried to shop online but it gets confusing fast... upgrade, full version, which version am I buying etc.... At this point I'm almost ready to simply buy from Apple at the regular price, which is not something I usually do. Anyone's got a better idea?
  6. Excellent point. I wish LP9 was free for everyone and would come with a free Mac Pro and record deal. 8)
  7. Busses are always stereo. Their name would lead you to think they are mono ("Bus 1") but really they are stereo. If the Aux that taps from that Bus has a stereo input (button at bottom with two crossing circles), and you choose a post pan send, you'll be able to use the stereo bus.
  8. Just curious, how and why do you use that setting? I've never used it and never had a problem with my recording being delayed.
  9. Hi Kev, It works great here in L8, I'm pretty sure I remember using it all the time in L7, although not sure exactly which L7 version that was.
  10. send the kick drum to a bus, insert a compressor on the bass and set its sidechain to that bus.
  11. I have to agree it is pretty frustrating. Shorelick seems to mix scientific facts with assumptions and confusing the issues... Shorelick, I definitely believe you have't grasped those theories. The only reason we need more than 40K is so we don't have to create insanely steep filters in both the A/D ad the D/A converters. Instead of asking us, you should read the linked paper by Dan Lavry, the answer is in there. And it's certainly NOT because we need to hear more transient information above 20KHz. There's no such thing as "delicious" transients above 20Khz. There's no "feeling" a frequency vs hearing it as a pitch. You hear a frequency or you don't! PS: Have you EVER seen microphone that captures frequencies above 20K? Which one? PPS: Have you EVER seen a set of speakers that reproduce frequencies above 20K? Which one?

That's true, I forgot about that. Great option, although for some reason it kinda scares me...
  13. Now that's harsh! I believe Shorelick doesn't fully grasp the concepts discussed in this thread, but that certainly doesn't mean he's an idiot.
