  1. Once you have created a new region , you can make that a new file by using Audio/ convert region to new audio file then apply whatever to that.....
  2. I have just done a clean install on OS 10.4.8 and Logic 7.2.3 and all my software, plugs etc and had this straight away when I imported my enviroment so I scrapped that and built a new one and so far all OK...mind you that was only yesterday...... Jim
  3. Hi David Just to let you know,I have been running Logic 7.1 on a G4 Titanium 800 with 1gb sdram on 10.3.9 for over a year and it works OK...of course if you start piling on the Track count and Plugs ,it will get sluggish .You can try using a fast Firewire external for Audio but ultimately if your doing anything serious, your bound for the new intel Macbook which is where I am now with Logic 7.2 If you are upgrading with Apple you'll have to go to 7.2 which will mean switching to Tiger unless you can get an old copy of 7.1 but beware cos the Logic 7.1.1 path used to include an update downloadable from Apple which is no longer available which fixed a load of bugs in the original 7 (unless you have a mate who has it) Hope that helps Jim
  4. Hi David Thanks for that. Dealing with stuff before Bar1 has always been weird in Logic from way back so I never do that. I start at Br 1 and always give myself a 2 bar count before any Data or Audio. My problem was as descibed in this thread: http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=2934&highlight=automation+folder To do with mysterious magic automation appearing. In the end I had to rebuild my Autoload and then rebuild the song transfering Midi and Audio. Does this ring any bells with anyone. Cheers Jim
  5. Hi Pete "You are now looking at your Automation Folder, possibly together with some spurious entries that I've never really understood..." Those "spurious entries" on my system write themselves and I found one controlling a setting on my EVP88. It doesnt matter how much I delete them , when I reopen the Auto Folder , they are back. Have you managed to delete those entries...is this the same Bug ? Cheers Jim
  6. I have just posted another thread about Magic automation appearing from nowhere...really it is writing itself on my system. Perhaps this has something to do with S.I.D.S Check for erroneous and INVISABLE auto data in you Automation Event editor and the Automation Arrange page
  7. As an addition to the above i have tried a couple of experiments. I changed my Autoload recently so I chucked all my prefs and went back to the old Autoload. The magic appearing Automation was still appearing although on a lesser scale and for some reason not changing the EVP88. In the event list , you see an event called *Automation and it has a position length and track No. There is no way of knowing what it does unless it does something which you notice which is what happened with me and the EVP88. Therefore I'm pretty sure some of you out there will have the same thing but you have not noticed it. I wonder if this BUG might be connected to SIDS which a lot of people do have a problem with! Hope somebody checks this out soon Cheers
  8. Thanks for that David Its a bit unfortunate for those who have just come in at Logic 7 The reason I needed that KC is in my other message posted today If you have any thoughts on Automation data writing itself I would be most interested. Cheers
  9. I have a dual 2 with 4.5gb ram and it happens to me but a word of caution. Its worse on Logic 7. I just switched from your system 10.3.9 Logic 6.4.3 to Logic 7.1.1 and its BUG central. I find a new one every day. More Ram is always a good bet Its helped if you put things in Folders so Vox in one folder , drums in another etc but if you dont need to change apart from slow scrolling, stay where you are
  10. Hey Folks I have a song with several plugs running ,one being EVP88 which I have some Trem on but it kept switching the trem off when I pressed play. Ah ha must have automation but I had done none. Anyway through an old thread here (very useful) I found how to get into the Automation Event edit page and then the "Automation Folder" and sure enough there was some automation so i deleted it. Must have been in my Autoload I thought so I opened a new song. At first Logic wouldnt let me open the Automation Event Edit because it said there was no automation data but after trying a few different tracks hitting the KC a few times it relented and again there was Automation on Audio track 1 and on Audio Inst 1,2,3 and 4. Weird I thought so I deleted it, closed the window and saved the Autoload. Then opened a new song and did the same check and the Automation Data had returned.Whats more when I deleted it after a couple of seconds a new bit of Automation appeared right in front of my eyes and I had touched NOTHING... As I am reading this back It seems so weird so I checked again and disconnected my Midi interface just in case something was sending weird messeges but still the Atomation data was writing itself in my Autoload ..I would delete it and then watch and Ping , some new data would appear. Ghost in the machine or what...... Am I doing something really stupid ??? Could somebody try this in a blank song. Open a new song Have the track curser on Audio Inst 2 Set Automation Event edit as a KC and press it You may then get a message that their is no data so try another track If you cant get it to open write a Volume automation , then press the KC You should get a Event list caleed Autoload Automation Then go to windows and open arrange and you should get an Arrange page with all your audio tracks , Instrument tracks , midi track etc . Now do you have any automation on any of the tracks aswell as the volume you wrote and what happens if you delete it? Please let me know
  11. Hey Guys Thank god I found this thread. Somehow a bit of automation was in my autoload and has been playing with me in every song and it didnt show up in arrange or in the Auto event list until I found it deep in where you said on that second arrange page What kind of weirdness is that ...nothing in the manual about that ...well not that made any sense. In the manual it says there is a KC for "Automation Folder"....well not in mine their aint. Anyway thanks
  12. Yeah I get this too allthough I have only noticed it on big polophony insts like Piano . Ivory seems to be the worst offender . I have a G5 dual 2gb with 4.5 ram so Im not sure its Horsepower and it doesnt happen everytime. It seems to happen if you start on a Bar or downbeat so I put the curser just before the beat and that seems to stop it. Sorry not to have a solution

    System Dive

Thanks for that David What if I just use the 2 internals as seperate drives , one for Audio and the other for my Library BFD/Ivory etc. Will that still give me a significant boost or is Raid that is the Key Ta Jim
  14. Hi all I am trying to solve the mysterious White Out in Audio window problem see http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=767033#767033 If anybody here has any ideas I would be V happy cos its driving me nuts Amongst this is an idea to use "Redraw Current Window" Now I cant find this in any drop down menu but it is in KC but when I assign a key to it , nothing happens. Does anybody know what this is and what does it do? Just a little extra ....below this command in KC I have a command that has a key assigned to it but NO name as to what it is....If somebody could look in their KC and tell me what it should be.
  15. You take the Prefs from : User/Library/Preferences/logic/com.apple.logic.pro Then import keys coms from there. There should be only one Good luck J
