  1. Hi - I'm trying to create an articulation set in Logic to control Cinematic Studio Brass - specifically the 4 staccato options which can be controlled by the mod wheel or the velocity of the keyswitch. I'm not that familiar with articulation sets but has anyone managed to make this work - pic of my articulation set attached. The staccato key F0 has 4 entries - and I'm thinking the value column represents velocity? One other thing I'm struggling with is after Logic has say played back a region of Cinematic Studio Brass in the staccato articulation - I stop Logic - and then if I play that instrument, whatever key I play the instrument reverts back to Sustain. That behaviour only when there is an articulation set selected on that track. Any ideas? Many thanks for any help. Jonathan
  2. Having read more on this - I have read of other people mysteriously losing their patches, settings, templates etc. The common link seems to be updating the OS from an earlier version and upgrading Logic - maybe? Anyway found mine on the HD in System/Volumes/Mac HD/.HFS+ Private Directory Data? - everything was here templates, patches, plugin setting etc
  3. Thanks - Yes that's where I was looking - all gone for some reason. Will have to see what I can find in backups. Surprised they have gone. OS wise everything else seems fine on other Apps.
  4. They won't be touched, and will still be there. Have you checked they are there on disk where they should be? Should they not be in user/music/audio music apps/ ?
  5. I;m looking in in user / music / audio music apps / - so the templates folder is there but nothing in it.
  6. Hi thanks - I just updated the OS. What I mean is in Logic - in the library I am missing my patches and instruments that I created. Just wondered if they might get put somewhere when I upgrade Logic or the OS.
  7. Hi - having updated to 10.5 and to Catalina I seem to have lost my logic user library instruments and patches, plus all my templates etc. Is there any place these might have been put please? Here's hoping... Many thanks Jonathan
  8. Helpful - no need as we have a good result with the method I described, I was just curious about different / quicker workflows.
  9. I am going to give it another go on a different song - the beat is swung so neither of those grids will work but the 8ths swung D is really nice. Good tip about deleting the flex markers around problem areas. I think there's some material that just doesn't work that well - it's probably too loose to be fair to Logic. Will try again on a simpler arrangement. Thanks for the answer. The video I watched on how to do it the way I did is here:
  10. Bit hard when the guitar player is the client. I'm just trying to do the best job for them that's all
  11. Hi I have been working on some acoustic guitar tracks. The timing on these is not great and so that makes things a lot harder for Logic but have found the cleanest way without the sometime artefacts of flex when you push it...,is to...: Turn Flex off. Open up the required region in the file editor - and detect transients. (If part of a long original file I usually make a new audio file from the region) Check transients - add - takeaway - adjust as required With region selected 'slice region at transients' (I can't see this on the menus so use a key command) Select all the regions - open list editor - make sure you have your regions selected and then quantise from here (I was working in 8th Swing D) Obviously depending on material you'll get a lot of gaps between the regions - so I go through and pull the starts back to cover the gaps and tweak my way through the audio but generally it does a good job but it's a lot of work. Any better / quicker way to do this? I spent a day playing with flex and the different algorithms and I just gave up in the end as I was getting weird artefacts and odd behaviour on playback. I know it can often do a great job (speeding up voiceovers with the 'monophonic setting' is a lifesaver for me!) Thanks for any ideas. Jonathan
  12. Sending CC data from Korg NanoKONTROL2: I found to use the NK2 in CC mode I had to go to Logic main menu / control surfaces / 'Bypass all control surfaces - tick. Then start Korg Control Editor - change the various sliders and knobs to your preferred CC values & midi channel and then under 'Communication' hit write scene data. You can save your setup under file.
  13. Ah David, clever, tried that and then that seems to replace the quaver rest already there and then I move it! I don't really understand why but thanks!
  14. Thanks - thing is I can't select it - so no info in the inspector. I have tired inserting it holding down option but it seems locked where it is and smudges over the preceding quaver rest. I'm sure there's something obvious I have missed...? J
  15. I am trying to move the horizontal position of a repeat sign as it is smudging over a rest. Any ideas please? I thought I might be able to move it with the layout tool. Thanks Jonathan
