  1. I have some faders in the environment that I'd like to control with smart controls. It would be easier than a floating environment window and I can adjust them with the mouse wheel. Possible? Edit - Nevermind I'm going to use the controls on a dummy aux strip, which is even better.
  2. Followup question. How can I use the output of a transformer and turn it into a meta signal to set a fader value. A fader itself does not seem to be making the conversion.
  3. Yes! Thanks. I haven't asked a question in forever - you already answered them all on this forum. If you were paid for what you provide the industry you'd probably be rich.
  4. I want to store a number inside an environment object to send/increment when it receives a signal. Basically a counter. Thanks!
  5. Please don't make the backgrounds brighter, just the controls and text, higher contrast.
  6. this is something that has irked me forever on this forum. i've pulled more useful info from this forum (and often david's responses) than anywhere else. it has the best user-base, IMO. searching titles goes a LOOONG way towards finding info quickly. woulda saved me hours and hours by now. it has often made me abandon the search for a solution on logicprohelp altogether. usually i just post a question that has been answered a hundred times and waste everybody's precious time on earth. even though upgrade/migration to the new phpBB may be a pain in the arse, it's TOTALLY worth it. think about the time you save in the long run answering duplicate issues. at the very least, start a whole new forum with the current phpBB version and link to this one for old-school searching. the longer you wait, the more valuable knowledge gets lost in this ancient forum software. i'm sure this has been brought up, but how am i to know? i can't search for "search" in the titles. otherwise, keep up the awesome work!
  7. I added the Prelisten channel strip as a track in the Arrange to have easy access to it. Then I deleted it in the Arrange, and cannot find it again. Even when "All" is selected near the top of the Mixer. It's gone, help! Thanks.
  8. Haven't tried scandor's thing yet, but I will, assuming it might work. I have no idea what all of it means or does, so I was hoping somebody could confirm that it is in fact a workaround to my problem, before I have to go into the environment and learn new stuff...
  9. I was directed here after posting my problem: http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=377520#377520 Before I attempt to make sense and follow the directions in this post, I gotta ask, will this solve my problem? The problem where Logic Midi Assignments (specifically the "Midi Input" dropdown menu) forgets that all my custom assignments should be "From MaxMSP 1" and not "Any"... Thanks for any help. I know nothing about the Environment or how MIDI communication & control works internally. If this tip leads to a solution I am sooo happy.

  11. As far as which controls, nearly any and everything. Right now I'm controlling things from playback and recording to arranging, i.e. "Nudge Region by X left/right". Or for example, the last thing I set up to automate was "Move anchor to next transient". I also adjust all kinds of plugin and effects parameters like crazy. This is why I automate the switching of the Midi Input on startup, cause I have so many assignments. Unless there is some control alternative that can replace the entire robust MIDI control, it probably ain't enough. I will try this IAC thing and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion.
  12. The MMC is cool, but I really something that gives me ALL the functionality of Logic's controller commands. As for the preferences file, I've read about non-fullproof ways to preserve/save it, but not that one, so I'm excited to try it next week, and let yall know how it works. If it does, you've solved a problem that lots of us have tried to deal with, thanks so much.
  13. I have lots of controls, basically going for as much hands free control of anything that can be done within Logic. As a simple example, how would I tell Logic to simply "Play" from Max through the environment? Seems like it might be complicated, and my solution might remain to automate the changing of the Midi Input until a bug fix is released. But thanks for any help you might have on how to accomplish this through the environment!
  14. Thanks! I'll read up on the environment. If anybody has any tips on how the environment would work for this, please post. And I hate to sound negative about Logic, it's awesome and I've had lots of success because of it, just trying to unleash more powwwer...
  15. I'm running Logic Pro 9.0.2. I just downloaded and will install 9.1.4 update, but i searched the updates and nothing about this was listed. figure it woulda been mentioned, so not much hope... Opening Max first doesn't help. And it's like once they have been deassigned-they will never return to the original state unless manually set. I even spent 3 weeks with Ableton Live and Max for Live, as I'm just trying to control the DAWs with Max anyway. The API to Live is too young and limited to be very useful right now (and Logic is my familiar sound anyway) So... back to Logic and this age old problem of not being able to make custom assignments. I mean, the whole "custom assignments" feature standard in every DAW is unusable for many with unsupported control surfaces. Allll that hard work they spent programming is being wasted as this bug stays around. For now I'm using the most hackneyed and ramshackle work-around ever imagined. I'm sending keystrokes and mouse clicks from Max to Logic that manually go through every assignment and change the "Midi Input". It's a flurry of movement as this thing tabs around, and it works... but how cheeeesy is that?
