  1. BOOM! Looks like Apple does listen to user submitted feedback. Added in 10.4.2.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into that.
  3. It would be great to be able to add images to the Notes section - especially for tracks. Screenshots of Plug-in settings, photos of mic placement, etc. Seems like an easy thing to implement and if the point of the Notes window is to encourage documentation, the ability to add multiple images to that window for individual tracks would be incredibly useful.
  4. I'm not one for "back in the days of tape..." glorification, but there's no doubt that before the era of the DAW, making music relied much more heavily on listening rather than looking at waveforms and EQ curves on a screen. With that in mind, I think it would be fantastic if Logic could add an "Ears Mode" (or some better name) that would easily reduce visual clutter with a keyboard command. For client playback, you could go to completely black screens (without turning off monitors), or perhaps a much more stripped back visual interface with only essential elements for overdub tracking. I think this could be a pretty cool feature that would also help differentiate Logic from other DAWs.
  5. I've written up a document that outlines a redesign idea for plugin-in windows that I think would greatly improve the working experience in Logic. You can find the document here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eypcu3gon6yfxxa/Logic%20Pro%20X%20Plug-In%20Window%20F%20eature%20Requests.pdf?dl=0 I'd be curious to hear your thoughts. If you think it's a good idea please submit feedback to the Logic Pro X Design team here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro.html Thank you!
  6. Thanks for the suggestion, Jordito. I'll explore that a bit.
  7. I don't know how difficult this would be to accomplish on the programming end, but I wish that I could just have a single window that displays all of the project's Virtual Instruments with a tab for each instrument that allowed for easy switching. I envision it looking muck like a Safari window with multiple tabs along a tab bar. I really hate trying to manage all of the different VI interfaces (especially when the 32-bit bridge is involved). Too much digging and overlapping and interfaces closing etc. Would anybody else find this helpful - or am I missing a better way to manage VI interfaces?
  8. This is probably a simple fix, but it's a really frustrating problem that I can't seem to solve. I've set up the right and left arrow keys to be my "Go to Next Marker" (and "Previous") keyboard shortcuts. It's been working fine in this particular project for days now. Suddenly today, the arrow keys won't jump to markers unless I select the marker track in the global tracks list. As soon as I click away from the marker track to do any work, the arrow keys do nothing (although I'm seeing a brief flash of the "Options" menu where the marker navigation options are located - so the message is being sent but just not responded to). Did I somehow unwittingly click a button that made this problem appear?I don't see anything in the Marker window that would appear to disable the key commands. It's amazing what a pain in the butt these little things can be once you get used to a certain workflow. Thanks in advance for your help. (I'm on Logic ver 9.1.1)
  9. Thanks for the info, David. Unfortunately the BPMs are going to fluctuate throughout the project on a cue by cue basis. At my current BPM settings I'm at a maximum of 15,765 measures at SMPTE time 13:00:00:00. The BPMs have shifted a couple of times as I've worked on new cues, and it seems that the 13 hour mark is what's defining the limit (rather than the number of measures). It's kind of unfortunate that Logic even builds in this kind of limitation. I know that most projects won't be this long, but it seems like some arbitrary limit was just chosen. Perhaps there's a hidden technical reason to limit project lengths, but it's kind of frustrating when you run into what seems like an unnecessary wall. Anyway, thanks again for the response.
  10. Ah ha! Apparently the signature isn't retroactive. But at least it'll be there from now on.
  11. Hi David, ver 9.1.1 I just added a signature to my profile a few minutes ago, but it's not showing up. hmmmm... Thanks for the quick reply.
  12. I'm working on a live theatre project with 150 - 200 cues that I want to spread out within one project (with 5 - 10 minutes between cue markers to leave enough room to work on each). Anyway, Logic isn't allowing me to extend the project end time beyond 13 hours. Is this normal, and if so is there any way to extend it? The reason I want to do it all in one project is because there are a ton of VIs loaded into the project, so just opening the project takes a few minutes and I don't have that kind of time to waste when I'm jumping from cue to cue. Also, I want to be able to quickly copy and paste MIDI data between cues to quickly create variations. If anybody has a better workflow suggestion feel free to chime in. Thanks.
  13. I'm loving Logic, but running into some serious memory problems in Logic when I load a number of VIs, even though I have plenty of RAM in my machine (12gB). Any word on the street about when a Logic update is coming that will allow us to access all of our RAM? I'm really surprised that Apple is behind on this after all the time they've had Snow Leopard in the cooker.
  14. I'm new to Logic after years with Digital Performer. Where can I find an easy explanation of how to manage Virtual Instruments in Logic, specifically I want to add multiple MIDI tracks (Software Instrument tracks) that access different sounds within the SAME instance of the software instrument rather than creating a new instance for every software instrument track. I use a lot of "Omnisphere" and "Play" instruments, and both of these VIs allow for 16 MIDI channels to feed the same instance. Thanks.
