  1. Ugh, apparently I'm blind as well! I did click the User Account Panel. But then I missed the little "Overview" drop-down. That's where the Profile settings are hiding!
  2. I can confirm a variation of this bug over here. Looks like it's also affected by changing the bar 1 position in the Synchronization settings. For example, if I'm working on a cue in the middle of a movie, I will set the Bar 1 position to the timecode of that cue. In that case, entering the timecode into the transport bar gets completely out of whack. For instance... 1. Set frame rate to 23.976 to match my movie. 2. My movie starts with timecode 00:59:58:00, so in "Movie" preferences, set "Movie Start" to 00:59:58:00. 3. Cue starts at 01:26:51:02, so set Bar 1 position to that timecode in Synchronization settings. 4. Enter any timecode in the transport bar. For example, 01:30:00:00. When I hit Enter, Logic jumps to 01:54:38;02. This is a total deal-breaker, since I have to manually scrub to get to the timecode location I need. Filed a bug with Apple.
  3. Sorry for resurrecting an old post, but I don't even see a "Profile" link when I log in. Would like to change my password as well.
  4. Thanks for your help! I actually just scored a good deal on a 2x2 MIDI USB converter, so I think I'll just go with that
  5. Yay, now I have some ideas to work with Thanks, all!
  6. Thanks for the reply and your point about destroying my UNO (I should have thought about extension cables ). I'm not sure if I'm up to dealing with midi merge in FCB, if it is fussy. I'm already kind of intimidated by it I guess my options are: A. Get a 4x4 midi interface B. Get a midi merge box C. Get another USB midi interface, similar to UNO D. Do the midi merge setup through FCB So, my questions is which option is preferred, and why? @ghostly, you said "D" is the best thing - could you explain why? I guess my main concerns would be performance/latency and how Logic/MS will handle hardware with different setups. Cost is also a consideration, but not as important, as long as I get the best possible setup. Are there other factors I haven't thought about? Thanks!
  7. I have a Yamaha keyboard which I use as a MIDI controller with MainStage/Logic. I hook it up to computer using one of these (http://www.dragonaudio.com/catalog/images/uno.jpg) M-Audio Uno USB MIDI interface. I just ordered the Behringer FCB1010 foot controller. The question is, how exactly do I hook up the MIDI cables for this setup to work. Yamaha has MIDI IN and MIDI OUT. FCB1010 has MIDI IN and MIDI OUT/THROUGH. My understanding is: I would need one cable from keyboard OUT to foot controller IN, and then cable from foot controller OUT/THROUGH to computer, and from computer to keyboard IN. Would I just tear apart the two parts of the UNO cable then, and get another single MIDI cable to connect keyboard and foot controller? Or is it better to just get another USB MIDI interface and connect FCB separately? Sorry about the noob question and thanks is advance!
  8. @hooch, very cool! What's a T-stand? Could you post a picture? I Googled it, but there seem to be different ones.
  9. Thanks for the replies! I will definitely get the upgrade soon. However in the Logic forum I saw that PLAY was not "playing" well with Logic 9, so I'm holding off for a bit. I'm very new to this whole Logic / MainStage business. Before I used to perform just with a synthesizer workstation, and whatever sounds came with it. Now that I switched to a MIDI controller and MainStage, I still need to get up to speed on how this whole thing works Especially optimizing computer performance, and how my setup affects it.
  10. Thanks, good point (shame on me after reading the forum rules and disregarding them)! Updated.
  11. I'm actually debating between Tech 21 MIDI Moose, Behringer FCB1010 and Apogee Gio. Apogee looks nice, but somehow I'm not convinced that it is worth the extra $$ for me. And I don't like the placement of previous/next patch buttons. Maybe OK for a guitar player, but not for a keyboard player. I don't mind paying extra for something flexible though, that would not limit me in the future. Behringer FCB1010 looks like it has the most potential, but I guess it has its own issues with not listening to MIDI signals sent back.
  12. I'm contemplating getting Symphonic Choirs from East West, and was wondering if there was any way I could use those live, through MainStage. I don't mean pre-recorded audio tracks, but rather sequenced MIDI-tracks or even in real time? I do want them to "sing" actual words (word builder functionality), as opposed to using samples only (Aahhs, Oohhs, etc.). Thanks in advance!
  13. I might just go ahead and do that myself! I had to have the laptop within short reach, since I had no other means of switching to next / previous patch. But I'm getting a MIDI foot controller, which should eliminate that problem. Thanks for your replies!
  14. What is your solution to having the keyboard and laptop on stage? I got a pair of extension arms for my X-stand, similar to these: http://www.djgoldmine.co.uk/product.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=210&P_ID=1132 This seems to work OK for rehearsals, but the laptop would almost completely cover me in a live situation. I have searched high and low, but I can't seem to find a better solution. Ideally, I would like to have the laptop within reach, but lower and off to the side somehow. Thanks!
