  1. Hey guys! What's your way of saving your project file underway so that you keep track of changes and can go back to previous versions of your project either during writing and arranging or mixing, etc? It seems every DAW handles this differently and I've used a few before becoming a Logic disciple. I still use both Logic X and Logic Pro depending on what I'm doing so I'm happy to hear if there's anything you'd do differently in one or the other. PS. I made the same post earlier, but deleted it because I suspected I should post it in a different section. Sorry for the mess.
  2. Deft-bonz, your technique got me a lot closer to what I want. Thanks!
  3. Thanks. Yeah, I've been looking at that. Might just go for it.
  4. Unfortunately I don't have space to fill with loads of analog stuff. I have one tube preamp and a space-echo.
  5. Update: I've been looking at his studio's page. It's all analog and he has a Quad Eight RV10 Spring Reverb there. I actually haven't tried with a spring setting. Might get me closer...
  6. Thank you, deft_bonz! Will experiment with this technique and see if I get the result I'm after. You're very right. The amount of reverb seems to follow the dynamics of the vocal performance. So the tip you describe seem like a logical route to achieve it. I'll let you know how it works out.
  7. To start off, I'm a big Ryan Adams fan. On later releases I've noticed him having quite a verby sound on his vocals, but the reverb never gets in the way. Like huge long verbs that stick out in the mix, but still his vocals come across quite undisturbed. Been experimenting to try and achieve a similar effect, but haven't quite gotten the hang of it. Been trying with sidechain compression on the aux, combined with a little bit of pre-delay, but I'm not sure that's how he achieves it. Listen to tracks like My Wrecking Ball, Gimme Something Good, How Much Light and the soon to be released cover of Taylor Swifts Bad Blood to get an idea of what I'm trying to accomplish. Any good advice would be much appreciated. So what I've done is send the vocals to an aux with Space Designer with a long hall verb with pre-delay between 20-50ms followed by a compressor with the vocal track sidechained. Perhaps that was obvious... I was just guessing here, so any other techniques to get this dead on?
  8. Yes, I noticed now that I can. So it probably just got weird because I went back and forth between drummers and kit...
  9. Thanks, David! The paracetamol is kicking in so I've ventured out of bed to post those screenshots. As you can see in one of the screenshots with Gavin the list of available kits is pretty short and different from Aidans list. What I discovered now, is that when switching back to Gavin i got the same list as with Aidan...
  10. Exactly! When I'm up and about I'll post some screenshot.
  11. So I've started using LPX now for arranging and developing ideas. But I've a strange problem. When I'm satisfied with a drummer-performance I go to play around with the different kits. It seems some kits like the Socal kit don't appear in the kit designer when using certain drummers. I don't remember which drummer or style I was using as I'm typing this. I'm in bed with a fever so atm I can't go to check it. Still hoping someone can shed some light on this. Has this occurred to anyone else?
  12. No matter how Logic has been announced in the past, I think an update is long overdue, and Apple should by now give loyal users some hint at the platforms future, and not leave us hanging. I don't think Apple will abandon Logic, but you never know. Some fear that the next Logic suffers the same fate as Final Cut X - going in a simplified direction. Who knows. It would be a huge mistake. I've changed DAW once, at that point I thought the switch to Logic was temporary. The reason was that Steinberg was unable to release a product that was stable and efficient on the mac when Apple switched to Intel. I then switched to Logic awaiting a product from Steinberg, but ended up a permanent user (because I quickly felt at home and started loving the product).
