  1. So it's definitely a problem with my external drive interacting with the new computer, because I just opened a new Logic project to work on which isn't using the drive and everything is working fine. Yikes.
  2. And yes, I'm embarrassed but I plead old age or something. Thanks for your patience. So I have Logic up and running on my new Mac mini Pro computer. I've been recording some demos, triggering software instruments from my Yamaha keyboard. No problem. Today I had a song on my old computer that I wanted to work on with my new computer. Actually it was just on a hard drive, only about a year old. So I disconnected the drive from the old and plugged it into the new computer. I've been listening to it and doing some edits in the Score Edit window, again--no problem. Now I want to play a new performance of a software instrument and the delay I'm getting is enormous--I press the note and it's about 1/2 second before I hear it. Remember, I've been doing this all along and it was fine until I plugged the new drive in. I tried setting the latency a few different ways but to no avail. I haven't had these kinds of problems in 15 years and I honestly can't remember how to deal with them. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
  3. Yeah, so...it's not showing up in my purchases so I must have bought it with another Apple ID 10 years ago, although I can't remember ever having another one. I'm on hold with apple trying to figure this out. Argh. Which password manager do you guys recommend?
  4. BREAKING NEWS--I am a moron, although that might not seems like news to some of you. But I am still in trouble. here is the deal--I have NEVER changed my Apple ID. It has been the same forever. I have, though, changed my password many times. I got confused. Forgive me for sending you helpful people down the wrong rabbit hole. BUT... The fact remains that I don't want to migrate my old version of Logic pro x (10.2.4) to my new Mac Mini because I have been having many problems with it--not to mention that when I tried last night, it said "The file is damaged, suggest you send it to the trash." So I want to do a fresh install of Logic on the new computer. But when I go to the app store on the new computer, it does not recognize me as a Logic owner. Instead it tells me I need to pay $199 for the exact program that I just finished mixing an album on not even a week ago. That is my sad story. Now what?
  5. I am certain I did buy it at that point. But I must be a completely different kind of person than people here. I’ve changed my Apple ID probably four or five times just in the last year – I bought a new phone, I was out of town and needed to get some thing from the App Store, it wouldn’t accept my ID for some reason so I created a new one. I’m sure it was user error, but I had so many passwords and IDs to set up with all of my technologies and iPads and phones and apps… I’m sure I’ve changed my password at least a dozen times. so am I just screwed and I have to spend $200 to download the exact same program. I mixed an album on last week?
  6. Chatting with apple support right now... The chat guy tried but didn't know about Logic. Told me to call an 800# and it didn't go through. Oops.
  7. Thanks--my Apple ID has changed multiple times since I first bought Logic almost 20 years ago. Not sure what to do about that.
  8. Thanks--I had migrated stuff but thought better of it and wiped the new Mac clean. Went to the Apple Store to download Logic and two things: They don't ask if I've already paid for it (which I have) so it looks like they are charging me $199, AND it says it needs OS13.5 or higher--this brand new Mac came with Ventura 13.4. Not sure what to do next.
  9. So I bought a Mac mini M2 pro and migrated my stuff last night. Things seem to be going ok, but I did all of this because Logic (I have two versions for some reason, one called Logic Pro X and one called Logic Pro X (original) had been acting very weird. I tried to open it on the new computer and it told me to download Rosetta so I did--I'm very compliant when I don't have any information. And after it verifies logic, I get this message for either version: “Logic Pro X” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash." I don't think that's a good idea, since both versions have 10 years work of mixes and files and bounces and so on. So now what? Thank you as always.
  10. Super proud to present this second of 7 videos coming at you, featuring these amazing players from Mexico and Salvador. We recorded live in a beautiful studio in front of an intimate crowd about a month ago. I mixed it while my computer was dying and many of you pitched in to keep me going. Thanks! This is what happens when you write a beautiful ballad for players who know how to take it lots of different places, within a single performance. I hope you enjoy it! Please like and leave a comment if you are so moved. I want a little slice of the world to hear this band, it's the best one I've ever had.
  11. Thanks David! You’d smile too if you were playing with these guys 🙂
  12. OK, on Tuesday I’m receiving my Mac mini M2 Pro with a 512 GB internal SSD and 16 gigs of RAM. I think I got a pretty good deal and it’s being delivered Brand New on Tuesday. This means I need a monitor. Good deal or not, I just can’t spend the money right now. 300 bucks about my limit. And down here in Mexico, that doesn’t always go as far as you would think, especially with electronics. I have a guy who wants to sell me a 27 inch LG 4K monitor that is almost new for around $260. If it’s really knew or almost new, I would probably do that, however… Here I am in Office Depot and they’ve got a sale for another hour of 32 inch smart TVs by spectra and JVC. Three HDMI connectors and one of them has USB as well. I don’t really need a TV but on the other hand, it might come in handy when I’m cleaning the studio once a year. The TVs are brand new with warranties in the box. Resolution is 13 66 x 768, the screen is 16:9. I don’t know, should I just get one and be done with it?
  13. MO RITMO Live in Mexico City is officially released, and here is the first video from this intimate live concert we did while recording. These truly are some of the best jazz and fusion players in Mexico and it’s a total gas playing together. This is also the project that I’ve been working on for months since my computer was dying! Thank you to everyone who reached out and helped me. My new Mac mini m2 pro shows up on Tuesday 🙂
