  1. Thanks for the advice and you're probably spot on but I'm basically a singer/songwriter. Engineering and Producing, recording the parts to final mix down while learning Logic from Youtube videos has been taxing on a 70yr old folksinger.
  2. I have mastered and exported my song to final cut pro. Is there a sample library of video comparable to the audio library? If not where do I get clips of video to tell the story of "Rosy the Tent Show Stripper"?
  3. Holy Moly!! thanks much, I've been trying to recover from this for days. Things are all better now. I had worked on that banjo track note by note for weeks and the thought of starting over from an older copy was enough to make me give up recording.
  4. I was editing a Banjo track on my project when suddenly all tracks but the vocal takes disappeared. They still play but no access to them. They show up in my project loop browser. Not Hidden, just disappeared The non sounding files are in the project loop browser and playback ok, they just don't show in my track window and thus cannot be edited.
  5. Thanks, I finally used "Guitar Tab" style and entered sixteenth notes to the end of song. Now I can tab and drop lyrics on the sixteenth fraction of the bar. Oh, and made a template for future.
  6. I would like to create a score with chords and lyrics for musicians to follow in the studio. You can't lyric and tab without notes , and the lyric tool don't like to put words where rests are as what occurs when you open a blank midi region.
  7. Thanks, I am attempting to create a "lead sheet" with lyrics and chords that a guest musician could follow while recording tracks, but thanks I'll check the other forum for help.
  8. I have also tried creating a midi track from the vocal track and adding lyrics to that, pretty sketchy results were had. Wanted to put my vocal on the bass clef.
  9. What is the best method for adding lyrics to a score when the melody is not known? Guitar player, no keyboard or melody deciphering skills. My present method is to create a midi track and use the keypad to time where the words go. Is there a better/more efficient way? The piano score defaults to whole rests and Lyric tool doesn't tab nor does it choose to put a lyric where a rest is.
  10. While recording a bass track, I clicked the tuner to tune my guitar and could not get a signal to tune with. Further investigation of the inserts reveal that none are getting an input. Previously recorded parts work fine (insertwise), Record levels and record work fine, input monitoring doesn't. Everything used to work, I opened a blank project and got the same broken results. Thanks much in advance When I previewed this I noticed that I was at version 9.1.0 at some earlier time. Could the newer version have broken it? IMac Version 10.5.8 2.16Ghz processor, 3 gigabite ram Logic Pro 9 (version9.1.1)
  11. This may be a subject for another thread, but when I recorded output 1-2 to 3-4, I noticed the waveforms were not the same. Though it was easy enough to compare the two's timing, one wave form is somewhat different than the other. Is this "coloration" from how the interface samples, do more expensive interfaces have less coloration of the waveform, has anyone else noticed this. It seems if both source and sink were set to unity gain, the waveforms ought to look the same, no?
  12. Well known, well smown, I find your pdf's to be quite helpful. I'm a songwriter and would just as soon spend my time writing and let engineers do this kind of stuff. Plus I'm self taught as far as DAW's, software and such go and will take any help people with the knowhow want to give. So thanks much for sharing your knowledge.
  13. Just stumbled across this. Thanks for sharing. Heard of Ducking but mostly in the form of "Helms Alee watch the boom" sort of thing.
  14. Just ran RedLogic's procedure and ended up with +11 which matches quite nicely with my results from previous post. Thanks all. Now I can get back to making music.
  15. Thanks Redlogic. I'm finally getting back here after chasing Ski's ten page thread for a few days. After finally understanding what we're needing to accomplish, I routed output 1-2 to input 3-4 on the 808 (tried to go 1-1,2-2 but the interface complained even after software monitoring was turned off. Anyway, I played an apple loop on the first track, recorded it to the second track and kept changing the delay numbers in the audio preference panel until the tracks lined up. I think that pretty much accomplishes the same thing eh? Anyway, I ended up with a number of -11 instead of the -421 that was originally there. I'll try your ping procedure to verify now that I know more about the test. Haven't tried to record anything yet, but when a friend listened to my first project, he said it felt goose-egged which is his definition of loose timing. And I never could get it to technically feel right let alone getting to mix-down.
