  1. Hey Fader, thanks for jumping in. I'm running a Yamaha P90 and a Prophet 08 into my MacBook Pro via an M-Audio MIDIsport 2x2 Anniversary Edition. The Prophet 08, from which I want to play 2 software synths via a keyboard split, does allow for a single keyboard split, but the 2 sides of the split point send on the same MIDI channel. However, if I record-enable 2 Logic tracks set to the same MIDI channel, only the lower-numbered track (closer to top of Arrange window) is audible. I can play 2 Logic tracks simultaneously if they're set to different MIDI channels, but not when they're set to the same MIDI channel. Cheers, Tom
  2. Thanks, Dave. I've created a transformer object, assigned it to an arrangement track, and cabled the 2 software instruments into the transformer. However, having never used the transformer, I'm unclear how to set it up to do what you've suggested. Would you mind telling me how to set the transformer parameters correctly? Best, Ton
  3. David, I'm re-posting this here at your suggestion. I've read your excellent post on this general subject elsewhere- thank you for it! I'm trying now to set up the following: A. Software instruments 1 & 2, on Logic tracks 1 & 2, both set to receive on MIDI channel 1 from MIDI keyboard #1. I want to alternately play one OR the other of these. B. Software instruments 3 & 4, on Logic tracks 3 & 4 both set to receive on MIDI channel 2 from MIDI keyboard #2, with non-overlapping note ranges specified on the 2 tracks so as to produce a keyboard split. I want to be able to play these 2 instruments simultaneously from MIDI keyboard #2, while playing either instrument 1 OR 2 from MIDI keyboard #1. I've found that A. above can be accomplished by leaving track 2 record-armed, and either arming or disarming track 1. It seems that, when 2 tracks set to the same MIDI channel are both armed, the lower-numbered track is heard, and the higher-numbered track is ignored. Is that correct? ( or is it the lower-numbered software instrument which gets priority?) Anyway, it works. So far, so good. The problem I'm having is with part B. of the above plan. I can't figure out a way to hear instruments 3 & 4 simultaneously on MIDI channel 2, with the keyboard split that I've created. I'm finding that, as above, the lower-numbered track is heard but never the other track. Can you tell me a way around this? My setup, in case you need to know, is a MacBook Pro running 10.6.2 and Logic 9.1.1, and an M-Audio Midisport 2x2 Anniversary Edition USB interface. The 2 MIDI keyboards are a Yamaha P90 and a Prophet 08. Thanks again, Tom
  4. David, your post at the top of this thread is a godsend- thank you.
