  1. Just how familiar are you with Cubase? to say Logic is ahead of Cubase in that regard... I can't imagine that you have done any audio editing in Cubase and then make this statement... 1) there are way more functions available that you can edit right in the region in Cubase for instance everything that you can do in the sample editor in Logic under the functions menu (and a whole lot more) you can apply to a region without even opening an edit window with a simple "right click" in cubase.. 2) When you actually open the edit window in Cubase the way you can manipulate and edit audio far surpasses the Factory in Logic which most Logic users on this forum agree hasn't been updated for a long time... 3) To get back to applying audio edits directly to regions ... you don't even have to do one at a time... you can select a bunch of regions or all of them if you like and right click and normalize or pitch shift or whatever ... highlight the tail end of a bunch of tracks and do a fade out.... 4) Never been a PT user but I have watched the elastic audio video on the website just to see what it is all about and I have been doing that type of audio manipulation in Cubase for the last 3 or 4 years... Don't get me wrong I love Logic ... there are alot of cool features ... but contrary to some of the thoughts being posted in this thread I think "why not" ??? why doesn't Logic update to include features that other DAWs have... why not try to rise to the to of the heap ... why not try to dominate the market by having the most inclusive set of features and functions possible? I thought that was everyones goal.... Sorry if I don't agree with the "if you need this - use this app" line of thought .. I just don't think that we should be letting developers off the hook like that... I for one want it all in a single application... we have bugs now... the bugs seem to have been able to be worked out in the other applications ... let's face it the chance of being completely bug free is a ways off for any app... everytime you introduce new releases of a product there are going to be growing pains... that's just a fact of life... but this is an apple application designed to run only on apple computers... I think they should have some advantage in making these things work ... And pricepoint isn't a factor in the equation AFAIC.... I may be off but reducing the price of Logic is kind of like giving itunes out for free... apple is looking to sell ipods not make money selling the software...I think it's brilliant ... but the fact remains Logic Pro regardless of pricepoint is Apple's Pro DAW...it should be competing on every level ... and b-pole should be surprised after migrating over to find that a number of features that he was used to in Cubase are just not available in Logic... it surprised me too.. I made the switch to mac back in October 07...I didn't realize that the mac version fo Cubase 4.1 was all screwed up ... so when it wasn't working and my drummer asked how I was loving the mac... I told him about the problems... his response was " Why don't you switch to Logic - that's what the big boys use" granted part of that was his way of poking a little fun at me but... I still figured that it must still be a pro level application and being designed by the same company that makes the computer it runs on ... I made the switch fully expecting a learning curve but also expecting Pro application features to exist.... Peace, Hate to jump in here but i agree with Logic Pro, You must remember that the top used studio set up in all the big rooms is Logic Pro with Pro Tools hardware along with Appogee or some other interfaces, Cubase leaves most users home. Not that Cubase is not a great program, you can do pro results on it but Pro applications are supposed to adapt to most conventional studio environments as seen in Post Production Facilities. It was clear to Charlie Stienberg ( as read in many interviews) from the start that most of the owners of virtual DAW as to "hardware based workstations" lack some studio experience but this was really a new way of producing music and they could adopt to innovative technologies and new concepts., but the competition and market for all this stuff now reached a saturated point. For example; We have seen "Gibson" take Opcode and "Apple" take Logic. If another DAW merges with someone or is taken down by a bigger fish in the capitol market maybe the features will get more competitive We also wish Apple gets it together but like Digi they claim if you get a Ensemble along with Logic Pro you then have a competitive Pro Tools system. Does Cubase work with Pro Tools hardware? Peace
  2. Peace everyone I used to run this application called RAX http://plasq.com/rax., later they started charging for it and now they discontinued it, left as RAX2. This application allowed you to load up your plugs fast for testing., so the question obviously is if anyone has come across anything like RAX2 which loads much faster then Logic does and allows you to test Instruments and effects? Thank you again Mike and Gabe
  3. hi FYI, The Install CD/DVDs are English, all manuals and paperwork are in the international language of that country. I myself have gotten a esx24 upgrade with English manuals in the past from Emagic Germany while i was in france (before Apple purchased of course ) with no problems.
  4. Wow Ging, what you say just gave me the chills. Seems like Apple and Digi do NOT want to cooperate smoothly, politics maybe. what about surface controlers that are expandable like the mackies or tascams which also have i/o, im asking this since you made the choice for running a digi 002 for pro tools very clearly., so is there a perfect solution fo something to run smoothly side by side with hardware that can run Pro Tools.
  5. Peace Drives seem to be a new problem these days, People are saying that Firewire 800 are the "way to go" externally for the speeds while yet SATA maybe the thing tomorrow and yet not if who knows what can come out these days. But one thing for sure is everyone needs large drives if they want there samples online at all times like (example; NI samplers etc.) or even stock footage. Been getting emails from different sites about prices dropping for 4 bay firewire enclosures, some range from 160 per enclosure to 230, These are Firewire 400a and 800b, some come with Firewire, USB and SATA! We would love to house 8x 300GB drives in 2 4xbay enclosures so this would be fantastic if reasonably affordable.[/b]
  6. You can't imagine how many times people ask me that question: "do you know anyone famous who uses Logic?" or something like this. I decided to make that list, starting from the old VIP list Emagic has on their website, and add to it as we discover new Logic users. Peace In that case then it is a good idea, Here is a list of some (not all) friends who use Logic: Ramstien Ministry Dead Can Dance KMFDM/MDFMK Sean Puffy Combs Clive Davis En Esch John Paul Jones
  7. peace Anyone can be a VIP, as long as they are a VIP to emagic or Apple., we have worked in major labels and had Greg Tease from emagic take care of us in the past for years, not that we like to mention names, but this is how it all works. Would be nice if really good unknown artists got free Logic Pro Copies. Why is there a list in the making here anyway ? 8)
  8. Peace We where just gonna ask about Raids here, We need to house 4x 300 GB drives which live inside a G4 450 dual that we want to replace, they are running on a ata PCI card., we need to actually house 8 all together, we prefer to simplify our rig and make it mobile. Why so many drives? We like to have our stock Audio/Video and sample libraries online, as well as all our Pro Tools and Logic Master sessions. We decided on a Stardom 4 drive slot Firewire a or b instead of Sata since our drive rig will be external and mobile, this way we can run powerbooks with it as well as a G5. Our question is if its worth the extra price for something more then what we are about to pay for the 2 Stardom "4X drive slot Raids" which is € 300 euros in Europe. Please advise if anyone knows. Thanks for any help http://myspace-554.vo.llnwd.net/00685/45/53/685403554_m.gif
