  1. This might help. You have 2.2db of gain on the limiter. I suggest you try putting the gain plug-in before the limiter to bring the level up or down to around -6dBFS then ad the limiter.
  2. Thanks Oscwilde He uses an external mic now
  3. Hi Des99 Yes having read the manual I suspect you’re right - he hasn’t realised he can switch modes by pressing the central knob. Thanks for the heads up!
  4. Hi Guys My (remote) song writing partner uses an Apogee One to record his vocals with LPX. I'd always struggled to understand why his vocal levels were so inconsistent within every track but it seems the reason lies with the Apogee. He says the single input gain / playback volume knob isn't calibrated so once he's recorded he has to adjust the knob for playback then back again (to continue recording), which is never to exactly the same spot. I don't have this interface to work out how to avoid that so how does the Apogee work in that respect? Regards!
  5. Thanks again for the great suggestions. Pardon my naivety but how do I choose which OS to boot from on an M2 Studio?
  6. Thanks David, that's worth considering.
  7. Ok thanks everyone. I've read posts here before with people being advised to back up their OS if unsure about updating but presumably then that's a whole HD backup?
  8. Are you using the V Drums to trigger either Logic or 3rd party drum kits? If so, it would depend on wether the sample kit your using has a choked cymbal sample to trigger in the first place.
  9. Hi all Is there a way to back up just my current OS before upgrading? Trying to avoid backing up all of my stock and 3rd party libraries which are on the Mac HD (projects are on an external HD). Many thanks!
  10. I've had great results using flextime. As described, import the stereo mix into a fresh project and enable polyphonic flex. I changed the tempo in the tempo display - you'll see the file change and you can turn flex on and off to compare. I increased the tempo by 5bpm and it worked perfectly.
  11. Thank you. And can this combine with chat and webcam?
  12. Hi Guys My songwriting partner and I would like to view and listen to each other's Logic projects, discuss mixes and arrangements etc. I'm familiar with Google Meet and how to present a screen but wondering how that would work from his end in terms of audio quality etc. We're not recording, just monitoring (on headphones probably to avoid feedback loops with our respective studio monitors, leaving the webcam mics on to chat). How do you guys do this? All recommendations welcome! Regards Sam
  13. Look at mastering as if it’s like the French polish on furniture. It’s the final subtle tweaks and polishing (and volume levelling) of the entire process. You’ll use pretty much the same plug ins as you’ve used in the mixing stage but over the whole song rather than individual elements. Everyone has different approaches to mastering but try the suggestion I made earlier.
  14. I’m assuming the OP is experimenting with mastering rather than preparing a mix for a mastering engineer, but yes, if the track is going away, so long as the stereo out isn’t clipping, the engineer will set their own headroom levels according to preference.
