  1. ...the system just asked me if my question had been answered (no), so i thought i'd come back and bump this just one more time. Any ideas? Am I missing something simple about this function? (probably ;)
  2. ...right, if I'm understanding you—the new region plays back and matches the tempo map, since that map was derived from that region in the first place. The issue is that none of the previously recorded regions are following the new tempo map.
  3. Hey Everybody: Thought I'd try taking an existing song tracked at a static tempo and introducing some variation. First I made sure none of the existing audio regions were SMPTE-locked. Then I clicked the Free Tempo Recording button and tracked a DI electric guitar playing through the entire song, opened the resulting audio region in the Smart Tempo editor and selected "Apply region tempo to project tempo". Looking at the Global Tempo track, I now have continually varying tempo throughout the song, so yay. However, nothing else seems to be working as expected/hoped. I selected all the existing audio regions and set Flex&Follow to On...but they're not following the new tempo map. Oddly, neither are the existing MIDI regions...did I leave some kind of switch flipped somewhere?
  4. What kind of sounds are you looking for? I've found that different sims seem to specialize in one thing or another (clean, high gain, edge of breakup). I also use Scuffham, exclusively.
  5. Hi: I'm using an external MIDI controller to step record a drum pattern into the Step Sequencer, as described in page 706 of the user guide. I'd like to intersperse some rests among the notes; how do I do that? There's a lot of info out there on how to manage it in older versions of Logic, but I can't find anything about doing it w/the SS. Using the Sustain pedal just creates a Sustain row in the SS. Any help appreciated - thx!
  6. Hi: I’m editing a podcast interview with 3 speakers and looking for a way to get all 3 tracks to move together when I’m editing. Here’s what I mean: - The fastest way for me to edit a region in the Arrange window is to set Drag to Shuffle-L, then select a section to be deleted w/the Marquee tool and delete it - This works great for the track I’m editing, but then the regions representing the other 2 speakers are now out of sync and happening too late, and have to be selected and brought forward the correct amount. Is there some way to group all 3 tracks so that they’ll move together when I edit one track? I tried using the Group function, assigning all 3 to the same group and then checking the Editing (Selection) box, but no dice. Thx for any ideas! P.S. I did program a key shortcut w/Keyboard Maestro that makes things easier, but some kind of group shuffle would still be better
  7. Thx for the tips, everyone! Resetting the SMC seemed to work for 3 days or so...but now the issue has resurfaced. David, I've used & loved MIDI Monitor for years; when I'm having this issue, MIDI monitor doesn't show any inputs from the Axiom. So I assume the problem is actually arising before the MIDI data hits Logic. Any thoughts?
  8. Hi - upgraded from Mojave to Catalina 6 weeks ago. No initial problems. Now, however, when I have Logic open and then turn on my keyboard ( M-Audio Axiom 61 ), Logic will frequently just not see the keyboard. Pressing keys and pads won’t make any sounds, no matter what virtual instrument I’m using, and Logic’s control bar shows no MIDI activity. Same with all the buttons, sliders, knobs and wheels. Quitting and restarting Logic does nothing. The only remedy is restarting my computer. Thoughts? P.S. This happens frequently, but not always. Very strange
  9. Hey - just in case someone else has this question and doesn't want to dive into programming, I ended up solving this problem with Keyboard Maestro: took me 2 minutes to set up a key command to toggle plugins on/off. Bwah ha ha ha....
  10. Aha! I was pretty sure it was something stupid simple like that. Thx for taking a look!
  11. David - thx for the idea. I opened a blank .lso and was able to get the step sequencer automation to work properly for a VI track and an audio track. I'm attaching the .lso for the project i was originally having trouble with just in case you're interested in taking a quick look, but at this point i feel like the problem's pretty well solved. 12. Should also mention that I'm having this problem with instruments and plugins as well as plugins on audio tracks
  13. Hi: Feel like I'm missing something incredibly simple trying to get the Step Sequencer to automate plugin/instrument parameters, for instance, E-Piano volume, but it doesn't seem to be working. Here's what I've done: 1) right-clicked in empty E-Piano track and selected "Create Pattern Region" 2) drawn in some note values 3) clicked "New Rows" button in Step Sequencer and selected "Learn" 4) moved "Volume" control in E-Piano interface which causes "volume" row to appear in Step Sequencer. Clicked "Learn" button off 5) clicked "Step On/Off" button in Step Sequencer and clicked on all 16 steps to activate them 6) clicked the row's disclosure triangle to reveal Automation Value 7) drawn in different Volume values 8) pressed space bar to preview what i've done; the E-PIano volume knob moves accordingly and I hear volume changes 9) closed the Inspector 10) pressed play in the Arrange Window. I hear the notes that I drew in in Step 2, but the Volume knob in the E-Piano GUI doesn’t move, and I don’t hear any volume changes Why does everything work as expected in the Step Sequencer preview, but not in the Arrange window? I’m sure there’s something utterly fundamental that I’m missing here, and I’d be grateful if someone had a second to point it out. Thx!
