  1. you can use the event view and turn link off and move to the top level folder to navigate regions. if you make multiple selections in the event list they'll all show up in the piano roll. And if you have multiple regions selected and pencil in notes the region will expand.
  2. Iteration! Kind of a big deal. I'm curious how this can be integrated into the environment. It's also very interesting with the ipad control support and enhanced control and automation over Logic's interface available in X. This could be a way to automap a bunch of parameters with minimal clicks.
  3. Rev 1 Apple hardware never seems like a good idea unless you want bragging rights. This isn't an Apple thing, except they are more likely to come out with something much improved in short order. I'm very happy with my ipad2. I'm waiting and seeing how the new Mac pro tech gets transferred down the line. Honestly, I don't do video and it's probably too much for me! A mini version that uses less power, produces less heat and is potentially fanless? That'd be great for audio work. I like to keep my business stuff under warranty and thankfully my MacBook's just ran out!. I'm planning on going with MacBook Air, Mac mini server, external monitor and UAD Apollo, although maybe not in that order. Still waiting to find out what the deal with nodes are in LPX, making sure Mavericks is good and researching distributed processing in general. Old machine goes back from L to SL and hangs around for legacy programs.
  4. Yeah, this is my problem. Since I'm going to get a mac book air when 10.9 hits I'm not going to pay to get 10.8. Do updates work though? Does the additional content download ok?
  5. Oh, wow that's crazy. Thanks for this info! I wonder if there's an easier way to find out what the real parameters are other than automating them? One thing that's frustrating is that if you change the number in the automation event editor you can't get it back above 127. It's weird, I can use a transform object to add 430 to CC16 and although the monitor "lies" and says 127 I decided to try it and it half works. It moves the control somewhat, but not correctly. Very strange. I don't know why they don't have a special transform command or documentation about this! I'll have to rethink things. What you suggested works and thanks! But I didn't want to use LEARN as there doesn't seem to be any way to disable this in Logic other than by deleting the learn message. I was looking to use the environment so that I could wire different software or controllers up on the fly that are already sending messages without having to switch back and forth so much. With LEARN I have to turn off all other MIDI messages so only the one I want gets picked up.
  6. The transformer didn't work either. What I noticed just now, is that if I look at the Sculpture monitor while it's getting F2 62 and moving the Timbre control, it's also putting out F2 62. But again if I move timbre manually it puts out 65. Also, I should note that I am able to control resolution at f2 35 just fine using either a fader or transformer. My monitor also says that f2 36 is sent out while switching LFO2's target. Simply wiring up a fader to sculpture sending f2 63 without using Numerology is changing timbre. Seems like a logic bug? Can anyone confirm?
  7. Using Latest Logic and Lion. I'm trying to control Sculpture. I monitored what moving the tension mod slider does in the environment, F 2 62. I setup a fader on channel 2 and set it to 62, I set the input to "control", channel 1, 50, and to filter other, look at a monitor, it's all good. I make a CC gen in Numerology, attach a LFO, set the CC-gen to send out CC50 on channel 1, send it to MIDI out. Back in Logic, I attach a monitor to Numerology out 1 in the environment, it checks out. I wire the monitor to the fader, then another monitor, still looks good. Then I wire that to "Input Notes" in the environment. Problem is, it's controlling another part of Sculpture, that supposedly sends out F2 65 (timbre). If I set my fader to send 36 (just went through one by one) it works to control tension mod as expected. I'm not sure if it's a mistake I'm making or a bug. Thanks in advance.
  8. Did you happen to try it with logic's instruments? I was playing in the environment and Logic's response is bizarre, to me at least. If you send CC 43 on one fader it mutes the instrument with no way to fix it. If you make another fader with CC 11 when you adjust CC 43 the volume will no go back to whatever CC 11 is set at. Where it gets strange is that if you delete the CC11 fader Logic still remembers the value, so CC 43 only mutes the volume while you are dragging it. I also find it strange I couldn't find any place in the interface of the instrument to adjust to bring the volume back to normal. I'm mostly working on mapping Sculpture, which still seems unmatched as far as software physical modeling synths. Lot of controls! Maybe I'll try out CCs on multiple MIDI channels....
  9. Somehow Logic seems setup to lower the volume of it's internal instruments if it receives CC 43 Expression (sub-Volume). Is there anything to do except not use it and filter it out in case it does get accidentally used? I'm trying to map various controls and I can use all the CCs I can get! Although it not crucial I'm not sure how to bring it back up to the correct volume either after MIDI CC 43 has been engaged other than sending cc11. MIDI CC 43 goes from very quiet to very, very quiet!
  10. Yeah, I want to step through the wave forms and also have a quicker way to edit envelopes, etc. I finally found the sysex info, but I'm not sure how to format it. I have a text file listing everything, but I'm unable to upload it. Is this enough info? I think once I see how to do one I'll be able to figure out the rest. I'm not sure if I should use a fader or a transformer either... 11. @David Unfortunately I didn't check the bit rate or sample depth and deleted it before I could move it into logic, but all the other files that were in that folder are 44.1 24-bit, which is what I usually use. I'm pretty sure the actual audio is using one or more of space designer's warped spaces presets. @Eriksimon, Interesting, I opened it in sountrack pro and since my laptop "only" has 4gb of ram I'm skeptical that a real 15gb file would open at all. The finder did report that I gained 15gbs when I deleted it though. @ibt A crash while bouncing sounds likely. I bet it was when I was testing how bouncing worked with multiple send tracks and also with rewire. I'll scan my disk just to be safe...which reminds me, I may have a backup of the file in Time Machine, which I need to run anyway. Thanks.
  12. I'm cleaning up my computer today and looking in the library/application support/logic/audio files folder I noticed a 15 gb file called Audio-Bus064.aiff when I used quick look to preview it there was only 42 seconds of audio! The finder says the date of creation was june 19th 2010 so I guess I was using whatever version of logic was current at the time. I opened it soundtrack pro to see if it was multi-tracked and it didn't appear to be. Not a major problem, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how this happened, either user error or a bug.
  13. Thanks. Yeah, I wanted to have different pitch bends for overlapping notes from the same instrument. So I guess I have to make a new track for each note. Option + CMD +M, ahoy! ....Any way add region data to each track automatically, so I don't have make it for every single note that uses a new MIDI channel?
  14. I tried it with the built in sculpture and efm1 and also the AUs aalto and korg wavestation. All I'm changing is the "ch" value in the event editor.
  15. Using Logic 9 I have the notes in my region on different MIDI channels and the hyper editor pitch bend data on different channels, but all notes are being effected. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
