  1. I've just been looking through my loops and noticed the big difference between the two file types ans caf files seem to be around 1/7th of the size of aiff files. It would be much more space efficient if all my apple loops that are .aiff could be converted into .caf. Did you have any good results?
  2. Great article Jay. How did the new system perform on your most recent project? R
  3. Hi Rounik! Downloaded this a couple of days ago and have been playing around with it. Very cool indeed. Aside from the RMX enviro i like the idea of the 'Arp' have you came up with any other wierd enviros since then? Thanks for sharing this!
  4. Hi Jordito, I wanted to use the tap tempo to get a rough idea of the tempo of the loaded song then use the beat map function. I've been using the beat map function with quite a lot of success. I realise now that starting straight with the beat map function is probably best here. Even still, any idea how i can stop the loaded song jumping around when i'm using the tap tempo, or is that something that's not possible? Thanks for your reply
  5. I am trying to use the tap tempo function. Basically my problem is that when I tap along to the song the song jumps about, obviously because I am changing the tempo. So this makes it very hard to accurately tap the tempo. I have tried with different tempo response values and 2,4,6 and max tempo changes of 2bpm to 4 bpm. But it doesnt seem to help, I am guessing because the region is relative to the tempo ruler. Is there some way of making the region/track 'absolute' so it doesnt change with every tap I make? Or have i got the wrong approach on tap tempo? Cheers, R
  6. That would give the game away....but lets just say engineers should learn how to use pitch n time before using it in a session.
  7. Ski and Fader8, thank you again! That's really detailed info! I'm going to look deeper into those methods But I will take it from you guys and do it the 'old fashioned way' and actually tell him that it's -34 cents... The old school is the best school! Really appreciate your thoughts on this matter!!!
  8. Thanks guys! Had thought about that one Fader8, but i'm looking trying to include all the transpose information within the midi file so that when i send it and they load it into their session (LP9 or PT9) it it will automatically play at -34cents. AMVweekly, using your method sounds good, but would i'd have to send the logic file too so that the plugin was included, right? I thnk i'm just going to send it through and attach a text file saying that they should transpose it -34cents... all in all just trying to avoid confusion!!! Just a shame that LP9 doesnt allow transposition to be changed by cents in the inspector.
  9. Simple Question about Midi and transposing. How do i transpose a midi region a specific number of cents, say -34 cents? I know it's possible to do so on some software instruments (exs24) but how does one do so on the actual midi region? Thanks in advance.
  10. Thanks David, that work around is the way i ended up doing it. I knew that it works o.k. with cutting regions into multiples but just assumed that it did the same for notes in the PR. Ski, i'm on 9.1.3, maybe logic will add this feature in future, would be handy! All the best and thanks again!
  11. Had a look via the search for this but couldnt find anything useful. I am trying to divide a note multiple time in the piano roll. The scissor with a + next to it appeats when i hold the appropriate buttons however when i make the actual cut it does not divide it multiple time, it only makes one cut. Is there an option or something that i have not ticked etc... regards, Roo
  12. So, i've done some diggin around and tried out your methods Ski, they are great, but not as time efficient as i'd like, and more links in the chain to go wrong (if that makes sense) What I wanted was to be able to automate the sample start, unlimited, from one sample, without splitting it up. I'e load in the sample ->start automating the sample start. 2 steps. So I tried some other soft samplers, reluctantly as I like to keep within the Logic soft instrument family when possible. I tried Kontakt and does the job brilliantly, only gripe here is that i can't load it up with my exs samples, although someone will probably post here and say that I can...guess thats the beauty of this Forum! Cheers for all the tips Ski...diggin' your work!
  13. Thanks again Ski, thats really useful! I'm going to give that a try tomorrow. Used to do all this stuff on an ASR-10, it was much easier and more interactive! I've just been looking at external samplers and the Native Instruments stuff...but not sure if its any good as I find a lot of the software these days is aimed at the 'Home User' and pretty substandard! Will report back to this thread with my results and any other findings@
  14. Thanks Ski, was a bit of a mystery for a while there. bit of a shame that they have put a limit on how much you can go into the sample, why would they limit it? Am i correct in saying that L7 didn't have a limit? Ye, I agree, spreading it out over a more than one track is a bit inelegant and a pain when under time constraints! I would be keen to keep it all in one track if poss, i guess splitting up the sample and spreading it out over the key range would be another way. any other suggestions?
  15. Further investigation leads me to think that i'm not getting any further forward in the 'sample start' than 127samples, as thats the maximum value (0-127)I can automate ctrl #9...why?
