  1. Does Pan Law translate to surround sound/Dolby Atmos the same way it does in stereo mixes? If so, does that behave the same way with Binaural renderings?
  2. Does the pan law apply to surround mixes and binaural renderings?
  3. Thanks David, that would work perfect - do you (or anyone else) know of a source for stems? I'm thinking from known commercial songs/mixes like I mentioned above.
  4. I should also add, 5.1 or quadraphonic mixes in the form the individual files (say Dark Side of the Moon for example)
  5. Does anyone know where to find stems for commercial songs (classic, popular, etc)? Something along the lines of the (Atmos) demo sessions included w/ Logic. Or, perhaps someone has done surround remixes of songs and there's Logic sessions available?
  6. Whoops, sorry for the late reply. I checked it out but don't know exactly what to look for there.
  7. I can do that but I don't think that will solve this problem. All 3rd party plugins work fine. Why would the ones that come built in cause the program to crash? I ran Disk Warrior on both my drives (I have 2 built in), it rebuilt the directory and cleaned up the files but that didn't help.
  8. I've got EU Control for the (now Avid) Artist Mix unit loaded (not using it at the moment). I"ll try trashing that as well. Can't say I've installed anything lately. I've got over 60gb free on a 500gb drive.
  9. I removed the com.apple.logic10.plist preference and restarted. The crashing still persists. Is that the only file or are there others that should be removed?
  10. Update: Its doing it w/ the Gain utility as well. Makes me think something is up w/ all the stock Logic plugins. Any way to fix this w/o doing a total re-install?
  11. Logic 10.3.3 on El Capitan, all of a sudden clicking on the EQ in the channel strip or opening an instance through the list of plugins causes the program to crash. This isn't just a corrupt file as it repeats this behaviour with a new project. Any idea whats going on here? It worked fine before.
  12. Very interesting. So at what point was 32 bit float integrated into the internal mixer? I use 10.3 but sometimes also use 9.1 the odd time (and its in 32 bit mode, shall I assume that would be the same 32 bit float you're describing for the internal mixer?).
  13. I had not heard that before about the stereo out. So what is the actual amount of headroom in the internal mixer? Here's an image of the demo that comes w/ Logic 10.3 (by Foster the People) and they've got several channels in the red, up to +7.1 dB. Apparently Apple is good w/ that.
  14. I'm well aware Logic is calibrated so that zero on the meters is not digital zero. Because of that we can go into the red w/o clipping. My question is, how far can we push it before digital distortion occurs? I think I recall there being 9 dB of headroom. Is that correct? I've also heard its calibrated by 12 dB but that seems a lot...and several plugins are calibrated to -18 dB like the Klanghelm VUMT. What are we looking at here for actual headroom?
  15. How do you check that and fix it? If I managed to do that it was definitely by accident.
