  1. Good day, here writing from my new M1, 10 Core Mac Studio 2022, 64GB Memory, macOS Monterey 12.6. I run Guitar Rig 6.2.4, Pro license inside Mainstage 3.6.1, and I recurrently have the situation below. I have no issues with presets that have already been selected, they all load in memory perfectly. Now, when I am browsing through presets, and without an apparent pattern, Guitar Rig freezes and there is no way for me to get out of this situation other than shutting down MainStage and restart it again. It also happens when I select different Synths (Reaktor, Massive, etc) Is there anybody there having a similar experience? I don’t really have access to logs or flags that could indicate me what is going on behind the scenes, as the screen becomes nonresponsive. Any help appreciated.
  2. Greetings! Long time owner of a heavily used Boss RC-50, and having tried Mainstage’s looper many times, I am back into the research for a software looper. It should be easy, one midi cc and start recording, second hit start overdubbing and stop/reset with some other command. Ideally, i could call a stored loop that will start playing when I get to that patch, if I desire it to start automatically or not. I get all that with my rc-50. Has anybody tried Enso? Any feedback appreciated.
  3. Hi everybody; I just went through a mac mini migration (got the new M1 model) and while it was not easy, I got everything running. One thing that did not work for the life of me was sending Program Change midi messages to a couple of external modules I have. Originally, I had 1 channel strip programmed with the device channel address, and I would copy and “paste as Alias” at the right patch, and then configure that copy to send the appropriate program change message to the device. Apparently, the alias copies did not work. I had to “copy and paste” the channel strip or configure a new one, but couldn’t really make it work from an Alias. Did anything change in the latest versions of Mainstage that I may have missed, where the Aliases don’t do what they were supposed to do in earlier versions? Don’t know if this is bug, wanted to check before submitting. Best regards
  4. Dear all, hoping that this message finds you healthy and well. I downloaded the EZDrummer’s demo version, and been thinking of using it as a plugin soft instrument in Mainstage. I’d change the patch, send a control message with my foot controller to start the drums, and play over... sounds easy, right? Well, for the life of me I have had 0 success mapping the play/stop controls in this plugin to Mainstage controls; I been reading the help and answers from their forum without any success. Do any of you, oh wise people of Mainstage, tried this, were successful and would be so kind to share?? Thank you!!!!
  5. Dear all, I am the new owner of a Boss RC-202 loop station, with the intention of migrate my old RC-50 to a rack mounted looper that I can control with midi and a couple of floor switches. I discovered the foot switches allow you to start recording, overdub and stop, but not to clear the loop out of the memory, which is pretty frustrating. So... I been thinking of sending a control message to my looper upon a patch change that would clear its memory. Being a total ignorant of MIDI file structures, I tried scanning the net for a way for me to write a simple Midi file that would tell (control 2, value 13) my RC-202 to erase the current loop, and use Mainstage's "Send midi file" capability to do this. Trying to write this MIDI file seems pretty difficult. Any ideas what should I do to accomplish this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  6. Thank you!!/. My time machine save my life... I roll out the whole OS (did not know about the above, but I am glad I did as I had also upgraded Logix... I know it works. I am in awe of the incredible capabilities of these Macs, backup, security, stability... and in some shock to see (I've started to see a wave of complains regarding 3.1) a buggy release of a software used by many professionally. I hope better days will come....
  7. Hello there, I installed 3.1 yesterday to discover big issues when I change patches, there is a horrible distorted noise that last for 10 seconds every time I change patches. I had a reasonably good working version, now I can't use it. Do you know how could I bring back MainStage to version 3.04... or whatever previous version I had? I really appreciate your help
  8. I would do exactly what dPiano suggests in his first answer: Just add enough patches following the structure of your songs, that recall a particular sound template. This is what I would do, if you have a limited number of sound templates: create a "library" folder with all the sounds that you use as sources to make your songs. Then create a folder for each song, and "Paste as Alias" (this will reduce your memory consumption dramatically, so you can have the luxury to recall a particular sound multiple times in the same song by just adding patches). Following this example, this would look like: Library - Chorus Guitar - Distorted guitar + bass - Piano Song 1 (all pasted as Alias) - Piano - Chorus Guitar - Piano Song 2 - Chorus Guitar - Distorted guitar + bass I hope it helps, best regards,
  9. Hello, I have a couple of devices (RC-50 Looper) that accept some midi commands to do some operations, for example I can reset the looper by sending CC80 and the value 127. I wonder if you have seen a tool, in the form of a VST that could be incorporated in MainStage that would, upon activation (I mean, whenever I get to a patch where the tool is added to a Channel Strip within the patch), it executes a list of MIDI commands and sends them to the MIDI channel of my choice. If you know of something that may exist that would work within MainStage's environment, that would be great to know. Thank you!!
  10. Hi there, yes I have kept my old FCB1010. So far, there is nothing around that would do the job the way I want it.
  11. Hmmm... I do not think I understand the whole problem, but have you tried putting two keyboard controllers on the layout page (one for each channel) and then making your channel strip listen to "all MIDI channels"... I guess that is what you need. Now, from the MIDI point of view, to merge the channels you need a MIDI merge or put your keyboards in daisy-chain talking on different channels...
  12. Hi there, I use both MainsStage, and a FBC1010. The Looper that you may want to try is the Loop machine that comes with Guitar Rig. The one coming with MainStage is.... what to say that has not been said already.... still needs a lot of programming to be useful. You can program your FBC1010 to send both program changes and CC messages independently. For Program changes, check the patch configuration in MainStage and be sure that the program change is set to the number you are sending from the FBC1010. For CC messages, the FBC can be programed, but you may want to consider the UnO version, that allows you to use the buttons as stompboxes. Mine does not have the feature, I am looking to upgrade it one day. One thing that is very important, be sure that you map your CC changes through some device that you install in the Layout. For example, if you want your delay to turn on or off from a pedal in your FCB 1010, put a stompbox on the layout and make it "learn" the CC messages you are sending. Once that is done, be sure that you map the Delay On/Off to the pedal.
  13. Yes I did, and it took a couple of weekend of insane research. I ended selling my RigKontrol by the way, while it was a nice unit, it came short of the features I needed. If you look at the list of suggestions in my second message above, you will get to make it work. Having the MIDI controls mapped in the layout is absolute necessary, otherwise you will go nuts trying other stuff that does not work. You need a foot controller (or some midi controller ) that sends CC commands that you can map, and the loop controller will react to your messaging without any problems.
  14. Hi there, I hope this offers some insight to the notes hanging posting that appeared originally in this thread. I use Mainstage live, playing through a somewhat complicated setup. I play the Warr Guitar, a 12 string beast that has bass and guitar outputs and dual midi outputs (through 13 pin connectors from hexaphonic piezo pickups), one for the bass side and the other for the melody side. These piezo outputs go to their respective interfaces, and I merge their MIDI outputs in separate channels to a single MIDI cable that goes into my sound card (MOTU Ultralike MK3 hybrid). From the sound module I go into my MacBook Pro and I use both internal and external synths extensively. Because of the fact that the sound is triggered from playing strings on a tapping instrument, the amount of information transferred by MIDI is substantial, way above of what you would get playing two separate keyboards. When I first started, I had an M-Audio Fast Track Pro interface, that has a USB connector, and I had the exact same problem.... notes hanging once in a while. I also had some cases where most of the hanging happened with one specific software synth, but sometimes it happened with external synths... so it was set to be either a Mainstage or sound interface problem. I got then the MOTU.... and since then I had 0 occurrences of this. I would suggest that you try another card. I did my own research, and there are people happy with USB modules, so this may be specific to M-Audio.... from my side, I did not even get a reply from M-Audio when I had the problem... so my recommendation would be to stay away from USB and M-Audio and try another sound module.
