  1. i have the same problem. i needed to do a screen-recording and routed Logic's output to my mixer so I could record the mixer output of my mic and Logic into quick time, but I only get mono audio. Would love to know if there is a work-around.
  2. oh yeah? like the *.exs file, or you mean actually dragging the exs24 insert onto an ultrabeat insert?
  3. will same trick work with Ultrabeat? I guess I could just try. Sometimes its nice to have individual envelopes for drum samples rather than the one global envelope exs24 offers.
  4. Yep. Confirmed last night. Thanks for the great tip! Is this a well-known feature of Logic that I've somehow missed over the years?
  5. wow, that works?! i will give it a try. many thx
  6. btw, kelliwerth/Vengeance sounds has a free plugin called "Scope" that works great as an o-scope, RMS meter, DR meter, etc. Its free with any issue of Computer Music Magazine ($5 on App Store per issue, incredible deal).
  7. Hello, Wondering if anyone knows where the samples are located on the HDD for the stock "Drum Kits" that were traditionally Garageband instruments. Here is a screen shot from 9: Really what I'm after is getting these samples into an EXS24 or Ultrabeat so I can use multiple outputs and manipulate further. Seems kind of silly to resample the kit... Thanks!
  8. I figured out what it is. The Clean Console SD impulse response has the effect of really accenting my transients. Check out the attached images. You can see that with no clean console ("Without_SD") the drums hit hard and are compressed, but then when I put the clean console preset on the bus as the last insert it really accentuates the transients ("With_SD"). What's interesting is that those accented transients are a cool picture in the plugin, but they do little for the sound, but take up headroom. Kind of interesting. 9. Ah, yep. Shoot. It's a cool plugin. That's too bad. I'm still on 9.
  10. Yep. Maybe some examples would help. I can bounce a few examples down tonight and post them. It doesn't make sense to me either. My guess is that the SD clean console is giving me some peaks in the audio, but the RMS level is about the same, which is why the perceived volume is roughly the same.
  11. Maybe you've seen it but s(M)exoscope (http://bram.smartelectronix.com/plugins.php?id=4) is a neat plugin that I use to look at waveforms in the time domain. It's really useful for taming peaks that may not be super audible, but take up precious dynamic range. I'm not sure if it fits into your application, but the price is right!
  12. Hi All, Although this is my first post in quite some time I've used this forum extensively the last few years, so thank you for that! I recently came across the Clean Console IR in Space Designer. Last night I tried strapping this across my master drum bus. My master drum bus has a bit of compression that the snare excites. The master drum bus peaks at -10 dB on the snare. Strapping the SD with Clean Console as my last insert definitely darkened the sound, and seemed to bring the body of the snare and kick out a bit more. I rather liked it. However, I noticed that even though I lost a bit of volume, my drum bus started peaking at -4.4 dB instead of -10 dB. I'm a bit confused as to what is going on here. It's almost as if there is some dynamic range expansion going on here, but from my understanding the SD algorithm is completely linear so that can't be. Also, the volume, to my ears, was not so much different, in fact maybe a bit less. I achieved a similar "effect" with a bit of high-end shelving EQ, but not quite the same. I'd be curious to know if anyone has an idea of what is happening. Maybe I have no idea what I'm doing with Space Designer. Thank you!
  13. OK, so it looks like those settings are just fine. Interestingly, the project seems to be working fine now. I'm not sure what happened before. It is an intermittent problem, making it all the more difficult to solve. I'm hoping it was just a bug for 2 days, and now it is gone. Thanks for all of the help.
  14. Haha, okay, great. Thanks so much. I will try this tonight when I'm in front of Logic. It is cool to see all of these answers coming in from all over the world. Many thanks guys! All the best.
  15. MIDI Thru settings, to be exact J. Hey guys, do you mind guiding me on how to get to those settings? I'm a little lost as to what to look for. Thanks guys.
