  1. Thanks it was a good read. I still don't understand how it relates to EXS24. If EXS24 uses spotlight to search for samples then it should be able to find the samples in question. Such as "VND Bassdrums 1.exs". When I search for the crashing .exs in spotlight the .exs files come up as well as the .wav files. I'm just confused with the whole situation since 3rd party .exs files work without a problem and even my older .exs files I created years ago seem to work fine. It's just some of the newer ones I made in the last few years specifically from Vengeance sample packs that cause these crashes.
  2. I looked into which third party software developers offered their plugins for M1 compatibility which was most of what I use. None the less I don't want to buy a new Mac because of a tiny issue I'm having with my current one. Although my EX24 instruments are the biggest part of my work flow. I'd prefer to learn how to fix what isn't working.
  3. What's funny is, it was easier for me to write that re-linker app than to try to figure out that Spotlight thing. I actually turn off Spotlight from re-indexing my drives. The reason is I don't want activity on the disk when Logic is accessing the disk. So for me, that re-linker app was a better option for me. I'm not even sure what spotlight is used for, or how it relates to Logic or EXS24
  4. Let me revisit that code and re-compile with lessor deployment version. No, because Logic isn't the issue, it's the EXS is not pointing to the correct location of the samples so EXS24 can't find them. You should first see how to setup Spotlight, because if it's not setup correctly on a new Mac, you're still going to have the same issue. How would I go about setting up Spotlight? (I never heard about it until a few days ago). While trying to find a solution for this EXS24 problem I read something about reindexing my EXS24 folder. All I see in Spotlight is how to make folders private. I tried to drag and drop my external hard drive but was unable to. I also tried to drag and drop my Sampler Instruments folder into Spotlight Search Results and I'm also unable to. Thanks ValliSoftware.
  5. The link I gave you was for OS 10.13 or later that had a bug in it so that contians the fix. You can download my original version that will work on older OS X systems. Get it here. EXS24 Relinker (s) on the AppStore Thanks for the help ValliSoftware, but the link for version 1.0 still says "EXS24 Relinked (s) can't be installed on Macintosh HD because OS X version 10.13 or later is required" I was wondering, would reinstalling Logic solve my problem?. Or if I were to buy a new Mac would I still run into these file path way problems?. Thanks
  6. I'd prefer not to buy a new mac. I've been quite happy with my current MBP and I only do music as a hobby so it's hard to justify spending 1k+ on a new one. I'll probably just convert all my exs files to Kontakt or possibly just remake all my exs instruments so they all have the same path way. Both seem daunting since I have so many i've been building over the years. Either way. I really appreciate your help Atlas007, Thank you very much!
  7. Yes this is true, that's why there was a EXSManager by Redmatica, to help re-link EXS files. It was a hit and miss with me but technically Spotlight was suppose to re-index files for Logic to see that and then EXS24 could resolve that. My guess is when it was working it's because you're Spotlight was updated for EXS24 to see those changes. It's a Re-Linker application I wrote to help with what you're going thru and I was going to mention it since that last updated EXS worked for you. EXS24 Relinker (s) It looks like the Redmatica site is no longer available. Thanks for the Re-Linker link but unfortunately requires (OS 10.13 or later) my OS is too old (10.11.6) So I guess my last question, is there any fix or anything else I can try, perhaps with Spotlight? My only logical options seem to be converting all .exs files to Kontakt or recreating them on this computer so the path is the same. Thanks
  8. So I added the attached file to the Sampler Instruments folder tried loading the instrument and it crashed while loading. Then I plugged in my LaCie hard drive and tried again and it worked. I have the same sample pack on my macbook and on my LaCie hard drive so it should have worked either way. For a test I moved the "Vengeance" folder on my Lacie hard drive from: LaCie/Sample Packs/Mutekki Medie/Vengeance to LaCie/Sample Packs/Vengeance and it crashed. It seems that these .exs file will only load without crashing if the path is exactly the same as when I created it. I don't remember ever having this problem when moving or even renaming some folders. BTW what is that app you are using to view the file path way? Thanks
  9. So, for process of elimination I disconnected my "LaCie" hard drive and connected my "External Hard Drive". Again Logic crashed. However I checked the file path and the Vengeance folder was moved to Sample Packs/Vengeance. So I changed it back to Sample Packs/Mutekki Media/Vengeance and it loaded as it should. But when I tried to load another .exs I made from a different sample pack it crashed again. I attached the other .exs file in case you wanted to have a look VND Bassdrums 1.exs.zip
  10. Thanks ValliSoftware, I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. Relinked shows the correct path as when I created the .exs files. The only difference is that I have the samples on a different hard drive now (named LaCie). So the path it's trying would read /Volume/LaCie/Sample Packs/etc... I had this same problem when using that original External Hard Drive on my Mac Mini though and used to be able to use either hard drive interchangeably. I even tried moving the sample packs to my macbook but I get the pop-up "Audio file "VETH Bass drum 001.wav" not found!" Then If I go to EXS24/Options/Check All Volumes and try again I get the pop-up "Logic Pro has unexpectedly quit. The current project has been saved as "Untitled (crashed).logic"" The type of WAV file is 16 Bit, 44,100 Sample rate. Not sure if it matters but I can load these .exs files into Kontakt and they load perfectly. However I would prefer to use EXS24 to save time and be able to save samples to project Thanks
  11. Zip and post one EXS file, not the samples, just the EXS file. I attached a zip containing a .exs file. Hopefully this can help locate the problem. The .exs file is one I created for a Vengeance sample pack. I should also note, I'm getting these crashes even from starting with an empty project VETH1 Bassdrums 1.exs.zip
  12. Thanks Atlas007, but I don't think that is the cause. I have a 1TB hard drive on my macbook. Even after moving my sample from my external drive to my macbook I still have 300GB of disc space.
  13. I never found a solution for this so I stopped using my mac mini. Unfortunately it's happening on my macbook now. Everything had been working perfectly until recently. I tried deleting logic.pro.plist but I get the pop-up "can't locate sample files" now. Then when I go into options and select "Check all Volumes" it crashes trying to load the same exs24 instrument. Can anyone recommend a solution? Thanks
  14. Hi everyone.. A long time ago I deleted a lot of factory content like Apple Loops and EXS24 samples. I didn't think I would use them and was trying to save disk space. Is there a way to reinstall just the content?. I used the Logic Studio disc to install Logic 9 Thanks
  15. Hi guys, First off, I'm still using logic 9. So I've been trying to build tracks out of live samples like disco, funk and soul. I was wondering is there a way to and flex markers by tapping with the beat?. I'm able to slice the audio will the track is playing (Split by Playhead). However I was wondering if a can add flex markers this way. Thanks
