  1. I am still running 10.4.10 because I have Mainstage running really well on it. I am afraid of going to 10.5 because I have read that Mainstage has issues with Leopard. Any new news on that front? Thanks!
  2. That is called latency. Go to Mainstage - Preferences - Audio/MIDI and click in the audio tab. There is a setting for your audio buffers. The lower you can set that, the less latency there will be. However, the lower you set it, the greater the possibility that you will have some drop-outs or pops and clicks, depending on how many plug ins you are using. Basically, its a matter of tweaking your system to find what works for you.
  3. So...if you set the Buffer to 32...and activate the saftey buffer, does your actual buffer latency fall somewhere between 32 and 64? I guess I don't get the "saftey" part.
  4. I don't know much about the Alesis stuff, and the link you sent me is in a language other than English...but chances are it will work just fine for your purposes.
  5. I use it all the time and it works great with large sample sets and concerts with lots of different patches.
  6. Yep. What you want to look for is a MIDI pedal board. If you find one that uses USB, great. If not, you can run MIDI from the pedal board into the audio interface (assuming it supports MIDI, which a lot of them do).
  7. The first thing you need is an audio interface to get the sound of your microphone into the computer so it can be processed. I recommend the MOTU Ultralite.
  8. If you saved it in the actual ES2 plug-in, it should be in the ES2 dropdown menu that is on the plug in. It is near the top.
  9. If you have saved them as presets in the instrument in Logic, then they will be available in that instrument in Mainstage. I am not totally sure what you are asking. Can you be more specific?
  10. Yeah, its made for live use only. There really isn't any other use for it. It can't record audio or MIDI.
  11. Just ordered mine! I spent $200 on an upgrade...why not another $30 to learn how to use it?
  12. I am really impressed with Mainstage. In addition to being really freaking easy to use, I think that the Logic 8 update has improved the overall performance of my MacBook Pro for live use. When I was using Logic 7 to run Scarbee samples live at a latencty of 32, I could only have the Rhodes or the Wurly loaded - never both. The other night I loaded both of them into Mainstage and was able to switch between them with no problems and very few (if any) dropouts at 32. Awesome!! I have set up a concert that replaces all the sounds I was using from my Roland Fantom with better versions from the Logic instruments. As long as I replace some of the Space Designers that are in the preset channel strips with some less taxing reverbs, I have had no problems. Well done, Apple.
  13. So, if I have a string patch that I use in three different songs, how do I make the same patch available in different sets so I don't have to have it loaded in each set? What if its a large sample set (like the Scarbee Rhodes)? Do I have to have it loaded in each set? I am afraid that would kill my RAM. Thanks! By the way, I am LOVING Mainstage!!
  14. Also, since I already have Logic 7 on my MBP, I probably already have some redundencies as far as the samples and loops go, correct? I have about 25 GB free currently but I assume that some of the hard drive space is currently used by Logic things.
  15. Dave, Did you get your new drive yet? I just ordered one of the MCE drives. Mitch
