  1. Yes I had kind of already come to that conclusion, as harsh it may be.... I had originally intended to get both, I was going to get the non usb version and a 2 in 2 out interface but got swayed into buying the usb one thinking and hoping it would do the job of both at the same time... All a learning curve I guess. Roll on Monday pay day
  2. Yes upon reading the manual properly for the mixer it says:. Usb/2tr to main mix, mutes the 2-tr out/USB recording. You were bang on about the volume button (schoolboy error for me not spotting it). I just don't understand why they would make a mixer/audio interface if it cannot be used 2 ways at the same time? Surely lots of music producers do live takes on synths whilst the stuff they already laid down plays at the same time... I've ordered some 1/4 jack adaptors so I'm gonna go with the routing of headphone output into one of the other channels.... however I just thought of another issue doing that, surely that would feed back the back track back into the audio strip in logic.... . Damned if I do, damned if i don't.... other alternative is the audio interface and another USB port taken up. Which does kind of defeat the reason I bought the mixer/audio interface.
  3. When going via the tape in, it gives a very very low signal from logic, with no control over the volume. I will retry it, step by step again. I really thought it was going to work. However, I have thought of another solution, I could route that from the headphones into the mixer using 1/4 phono adaptors and route to say 11/12 that has a volume control. I'm just about to try to burn some fat and then ill give your original solution another go. Unless I'm missing a volume setting on the headphones out somewhere?
  4. Dang I thought I had it then... Sadly didn't work. Think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get a separate audio interface which is a shame, I was kinda hoping to cut that part out, it's crazy that you can't work both ways at the same time, I'm sure that would only be a driver away. It's not clear in the product info that it doesn't do that and they have really missed a trick with it. Back to the drawing board, awaiting payday. Thanks for the input though, everything is worth a shot.
  5. Hi, I'm having a bit of a mare. So I bought the mentioned mixer/USB audio interface to record my td-3 into logic, hoping that I could play my main back track through the USB and out to the speakers whilst doing a live take on the td-3. However I can only get on or the other, so I can record the audio directly into logic via USB, but cannot seem to have it working both ways at the same time (the laid out stuff in logic playing, whilst recording my take into logic). I'm at my wits end tbh, does this mean that I now need to buy a separate audio interface or is there another way? I hope what I have said makes sense.
  6. are you running any effects that use lookahead such as limiters etc on any channels, i found that could bug my system out and it would lose sync..... also on the kenton have you set option 40 to on? and you will find you need to start at the start of a bar and not part way through as this would also bugger the sync up. but yeah id get all your channels sorted and then record your take on the 303 then put all your effects and stuff on whatever you may be doing..... i use a motu 828 mk2 and the buffer size is 512 and have no issues apart from what ive put above
  7. legend... dunno how i managed to uncheck that!! thankyou so much!! thanks again jamie
  8. hi guys and girls, i dont know what ive done or managed to do... i opened a project that i have been working on and now i cannot put inserts on my bus channels nor do the ones already there show up, same as the master channel.... logic 9 btw......... any ideas as im flumoxed thanks in advance jamie
  9. hi, just bought another tb-303 and am having some main sync issues, so running it from dynsync to my kenton pro solo 2, set to continue=start so that it should play from the beginning of any given bar.... however, it starts from 1,1,1,1 fine, but starting from say 17,1,1,1 it seems to play a note out, changing the pattern as its started from a different part of the pattern on the tb.... if that makes sense? im running from logic 9.1.7 32bit into my motu 828 mk2 to my kenton pro solo 2 and finally into my 303......... im baffled as it does it with both of them, so its not a hardware issue but seems to be from logic itself!
  10. thanks, i was just replying to myself before i saw that, joys of youtube!! thanks for the response david, frustration over!!
  11. hi there peeps, just a quick one as im stuck!! ive managed to get reason running as a slave via rewire, ive set up an aux channel using reason as the input and its all working fine, logic is running and reason is playing..... phew that wasnt too difficult to sort out, but here is my next problem. i would really like to record what is coming out of reason as a part of my mix, is there any way of doing this? i hope that makes sense, im getting audio from my speakers but i would like to record that onto a track in logic a bit like i would record a normal synth, you know, using an audio track and recording it.. sorry im babbling on but im flumoxed! thanks in advance. oh yeah im using logic 9 up to date...
  12. hi guys, im trying to cut some rap lyrics.... the lyrics are clean apart from right at the start where there is a cymbal that has a nasty tail on it that bleeds into the first word... is there any easy way of eqing that out? ive tried using the eq on logic but cant seem to get it out completely without ruining the actual vocal itself? hope that makes sense thanks in advance jamie
  13. hi all, just a quick q, i doubt it can be done but im currently cutting some audio from a speech to put into a track but there is a build up of music in the background.. is there anyway of removing as much of it as possible to leave the vocal part clearer, if that makes sense?
  14. hi, im confused, i recently updated to 9.1.5 and now it seems like logic wont communicate with my pro solo or motu with regards to midi. ive got my 303 sync24 to sync24 port on my kenton pro solo mk2, into my motu 828 into logic so it goes: 303 - sync24(thru) - and midi in on kenton into midi out on motu 828. ive set all the settings so that it goes correctly but nothing, my 303 wont trigger. so ive either got a duff sync 24 cable (constantly in an out of the 303), my kenton is up the swannie or my motu isnt working or finally its logic... was working fine on 9.1.4 (albeit with latency issues that i worked around), now nothing. Any way of checking that its sending? im at a loss and need to get patterns laid down! thanks in advance jamie
  15. Hi all, im delving into the realms of using a virtual drum machine, virtual tb-303 etc. etc. etc. so having programmed patterns into each, and it running in synch with logics clock, how the hell do i record the audio that comes out of the virtual instruments...?? thanks in advance!
