  1. Actually - this is a head smack moment. If I import from the logic file I'm working on INTO the template, I can just import without routing. Duh, I think this is what you were getting at. OK, gonna try that. Thanks
  2. Thanks. I would have thought the same, but in the Sheps method, (which i have been curious to try), he imports his templates into the sessions he's sent. I know it's Pro Tools, and the wave files are delivered with very few, if any busses being used,, but in my case I've been producing in Logic, I'm 50% to a mix, some things are still in the MIDI realm for last minute tweaking, and then I'd love to jump to the template options and sort of make a hybrid process out of it. which leads me to ask - is there no way to have Logic bump either my existing or the template routing so it's not hijacked and shared?
  3. Messing with importing from the Logic version of the Andrew Scheps mix template INTO the song I recorded and am ready to mix. However, I'm confused by a few things in the import logic projects process. In the Scheps template, his buses are contained in the bank from 1 - 32. I already have some buses assigned for various things, and they are in that first bank too. His buses end up merging (despite a bus by bus dialogue box for assigning), and hijacking my existing buses, so now my bus one (kick bus) is ALSO a guitar busm since that's he template Bus 1. Does this mean that I should always use buses above 32 from now on, so I CAN import the template and it won't have any conflicts? Is there a way around this for existing songs? any tutorials that get into a similar process? I'd like to find a way, that when the tracks are ready, and even though I've already mixed as I went, while producing., I have some go to template info i can pull in and re-distribute the audio tracks. This will be helpful especially with a record I'm mixing now, where most of the same instruments can be treated similarly. Thanks for any help, pointers, and or tutorials on this topic.
  4. Hi All. I have the Logic 10.3 book, and didn't get very far into it before life got in the way. I'd like to pick up where i left off and even do my certification - so my question: Is there an update or update files/addendum to the 10.3 book (for learning/certification 10.4) of do I need to buy the newest and the actual 10.4 book? Thanks
  5. OK - I figured it out - it does work with Audio. The cursor has to be closer to the middle of the region just above the visible waveform, just above where the cursor turns into a multi-tool. Any higher and it just moves it when you're trying to swipe across it.
  6. I have several adjacent AUDIO regions/objects on a track that I want to grab as a group and move, in the main area of logic. Above and below, and to the left and right are also regions, but I don't want those. There's no space around what I'm trying to select and move. So, If I hold shift and swipe across to select the regions I want, it moves the first one I click on and does nothing to the others. Other than laboriously clicking on each single region I want in succession until they're all highlighted and then moving them, is there another way to do this? **update, it does work with MIDI regions, just not audio. Thanks
  7. Thanks for that reply - i can get a new one for about $1800 - so that seems pretty good for 12 preamps, and 8 additional line ins. I'm mostly confused with how it connects with Logic while tracking to existing audio/Midi - it seems the lack of latency is due to listening to input not output.
  8. HI Wondering if anyone is finding success using either of the above units with Logic Pro, and how they play together. Would appreciate any honest evaluation re. workflow, how it might work with existing tracks in logic (MIDI and audio) while tracking new audio into interface. Pre sales help isn't the best at AA. Thanks!! - Greg
  9. all great responses - but revealing too. seems like my macbook pro and screen sharing can handle the remote functions for drums/vocals in the booth etc. I might have to hold off on buying one.
  10. HI I'm considering getting an ipad pro, 12.9" and need some other reasons to buy it. My main reason would be for importing and reading drum charts for gigs. other than that, I'm wondering how it can help with Logic workflow - for example, if I use it as a second screen for Logic (or a third, since I have two), can I control logic with touch, like a slate raven? Or is the logic remote worth using? (I''m pretty quick with my TB Mouse.) It might be that it won't be much use with logic, and that's ok too. I suppose I could use it with remote to track drums from behind the kit, but I can already do that with my macbook pro and share screen. thoughts? If you had to talk me into it, what would you say ?
  11. question for my Logic/Slate friends: using Slate's virtual mix rack on an input channel routing to a bus, and a record enabled channel with that same bus as its input. This way I can use the virtual mic, mic pre and compressor while recording vocals, like I would a hardware chain. With a hardware chain, I like to ride some peak/valley vocal levels while recording when I know an extreme is coming, and I want to use the gain of the compressor from the input chain to do so (rather than the pre, which would affect the compression that follows). Using Logic's smart controls, I can do this with the virtual comp - that is until I select the record track (or any other track) to record the vocal. when I do so, it loses it's smart controls and the plugin window closes. Is there any way to maintain smart controls as they affect the compressor gain knob while selecting other tracks?
  12. COMMAND + arrow is how Logic zooms in and out, both vertically an horizontally. Unless Sylenth is open, in which case it loads and unloads patches. i've lost several patches this way, because I wanted to zoom Logic, and then the preset changed before I saved it. Any way to either change the sylenth load/unload command (nexus has a simple arrow command) or simply not pass key commands to plugs? thanks as always!
  13. thanks guys - yup. latest version. I still have the old version in my components folder tho, and not for any good reason - maybe I'll pull that one out and see if that's it....
  14. Seems to be happening many times, always reporting Magic AB as the culprit. Anyone else using? thanks
  15. awesome!! Just tried it - I can get used to that one...much better than mouse clicking. thanks.
