  1. Hi I have Logic Express 9, which I know isn't supported anymore. What versions of OS X it is compatible with after 10.6 ? I was running it on 10.6.8 but have recently upgraded the OS to 10.11.6 EI Captain. I don't think it's going to work properly with 10.11.6! Thanks Paul
  2. Hi I currently use audiofinder to audition my sounds, but I know that apple loops will conform to the project tempo, so would it be worth spending the time to convert my .WAV library so I could audition all of my sounds (and consequently insert them into my project) at the right tempo? I figured this might speed up the whole sample audition/selection process. Only problem I could see doing this is that it would take ages to do each file in the loops utility and add all the metadata for each sound (My primary library is 115GB). Thanks Xenon
  3. Yes I think the nearest pitch of the effect is that of key G# which sounds near but not perfect. So is this generally the best method to find a key note if posible and then use one of the mentioned plugins armed with that info?
  4. Hi I'm having difficulty trying to find out the best way of making non-rythmic material (such as a tonal sound effect) be in the correct pitch with my project. I've done some experiments with the flex tool but can't get that to do the trick. Whats the best way ? Thanks Xenon
  5. Superb! Thanks to all who have helped me to better understand this subject. Xenon
  6. So there is no extra load upon my computer by doing it this way then?
  7. This method achieves being able to setup the instrument so there are no strips in the environment and also ascending midi channels but when I click each lane in the arrange window it won't trigger the respective output in RMX. They all seem to trigger output A even though each lane is assigned to a different midi channel - I was expecting each lane would trigger outputs A-H which have been assigned in RMX. I am still trying to understand why it is a bad idea to have several strips all relating to the same instrument in my environment as in my screenshot above. Is this in therory opening 8 instances of the plugin even though there is only one in the arrange mixer All good learning! Thanks Xenon
  8. The midi channels then run in sequence but the strips are created in the environment. (same situation as setting up multi-timbrally through the new tracks dialog). I think i'm going to have to just leave it set up via the new tracks dialog with the objects in the environment. Xenon
  9. The first screenshot shows that it hasn't created any new strips in the environment but the midi channels are all linked - if I change one then they are all changed to that same value. I'm pretty sure thats what the white strips that run down the left hand side of the track lanes represent? The second screenshot shows where I set up RMX multi-timbrally via the new tracks dialog which allows the sequential midi channels (and the white strips are not present) but the extra strips are created in the environment area. Whats so wrong with these objects in the environment area anyway? I appreciate your support Xenon
  10. I want to add a multi-timbral instrument with 8 tracks in the arrange area (which reference one channel strip in my mixer and once instance of my instrument) with ascending midi channels 1-8 which each trigger a different output. I know I can do this by creating a multi-timbral instrument in the new tracks dialog, but when switching to the environment I note that this creates eight instrument strips each loaded with an instance of the instrument. I was told in another thread that it was not neccesary to add extra objects in my environment, and I could use the New with Same Channel Strip/Instrument command which would stop these objects being created, but when I do that I find that I am not able to set each tracks midi number in an ascending order - they are all tied to the same midi channel. So if I want to use ascending midi channels do I have to create a multi-timbral software instrument from the new tracks dialog and therefore add these objects in my environment? If so, is that a problem / disadvantage? Xenon
  11. Hi Ruari I should have mentioned that I have set up Battery in this way but I have other multi channel instruments that do need to be set up with the ascending midi channels. David mentioned about not needing to add objects in the environment (I assume this is because it is adding extra load to my CPU unnecessarily ?) and I was trying to ascertain how to use ascending midi channels without adding objects to my environment. Thanks Xenon
  12. Hello again Could you clarify this issue for me? I want to add a multi-timbral instrument with 8 tracks in the arrange area (which reference one channel strip in my mixer and once instance of my instrument) with ascending midi channels 1-8 which each trigger a different output. I know I can do this by creating a multi-timbral instrument in the new tracks dialog as mentioned before, but when switching to the environment I note that this creates eight instrument strips each loaded with an instance of the instrument. David, you said that it was not neccesary to add extra objects in my environment, and I could use the New with Same Channel Strip/Instrument command which would stop these objects being created, but when I do that I find that I am not able to set each tracks midi number in an ascending order - they are all tied to the same midi channel. So if I want to use ascending midi channels do I have to create a multi-timbral software instrument and therefore add these objects in my environment? Thanks again Xenon
  13. I was not aware that by creating a multi-timbral setup I was adding new objects in my environment. I will use the New with Same Channel Strip/Instrument command now I know this. Tbh the environment is an area which scares me - I don't know much about it so I never go there! I hadn't really considered that I could switch between these methods. I was setting up my new song template and I suppose I was trying to commit myself to one way or the other unnecessarily. Thanks for all your input Xenon
