  1. In the manual 1. In Logic Pro, tap the Projects Browser button on the left side of the control bar. 2. In the Projects browser, touch and hold the project, then tap Duplicate. 3. A duplicate of the project appears below the original one. you can dupe it for each session and number or date the projects. Logic on Mac has a feature called “Project Alternatives” and “Track alternatives” which are helpful in the way you’re looking for, but that doesn’t seem to be a feature for iPad right now. It would also save you on HD space, but saving versions on your own has always worked for me in the past. Just delete the ones you don’t need from time to time.
  2. If you have logic for Mac, all this sample importing is silly. Just make a project or several filled with your samples, dmds, audio tracks etc. air drop it. takes 2 secs.
  3. That’s the whole question. Seems intuitive to me that you cahoots just hold the knob and assign it, especially for third party plugs, the assignments are effectively random.
  4. I'm thinking about upgrading my EZDrummer AU plugin to SuperiorDrummer. I was wondering if there was anything within Logic that I would need to do in order to install it on my external USB hard drive, and make sure logic will have access to it. I don't even know if SuperiorDrummer will allow me to do this, or to somehow install the component in the usual directory and put the related data/sound files on my external. But, as I look into that, I was wondering if someone could give me general advice about my possible options from the logic side of things. Thanks again to the super-fantastic logic pro help forum, great bastion of eternal knowledge. Warren V. McCainicks III
  5. Cool thanks. I thought thats all it was. Rock and/or ROLL!
  6. I'd like to move my apple loops folder onto my external hard drive to make space. What is the smoothest way to do this? What should I look out for so that I don't have problems with them in the future? Thanks!
  7. Just on an amusing note. I saw hatebreed a few time back in the 90s. They look and sound exactly the same (ignoring production for a sec). I used to wonder how hardcore bands might age, givin the whole dedicated forever keepin it real vibe. They kept it real, I suppose you could say. (atleast till 07)
  8. I'm assuming all I have to do is uncheck them in the Logic AU manager, close logic, then delete the component files. Am I missing a step? I just want to be sure so I don't screw the pooch.
  9. Thanks a bunch for the replies, very helpful! I actually have enjoyed listening to Mastadon on occasion. Thats more the side of metal I lean towards when I'm in the mood. I was just thinking that stylisticly they are alot more artistic and dynamic than this track I'm trying to take care of, but definitely worth a look. I feel the hatebreed example is perfect for what I'm dealing with (perhaps with the exception of the vocals being to screamy in comparison), given that the guitars are very loud in the mix, and thats basically the sound I'm looking at here. (ie the kick and snare arent dominating the mix as more pop metal tends to have the kick snare and vocals taking over... well alot of genres get that way the more pop you get eh?) The in flames track I think covers the vocals for me as well. Cool. The guitars/bass in there are mixed towards where I thought I had to be, you know where the guitar and bass are separated a bit more frequency wise, bass more tone dominant (the hatebreed guitars are more meaty, with the bass mirroring the guitar parts more, which is what Im working with), but I don't think I've got the quality/dynamics of a guitar performance like these guys have. To be honest the mix I'm doing is as much an experiment/demonstration of how good I can make this track sound using an extraordinary amount of flex audio, take folders, and mix and match. It was recorded with a cheapo strat knock-off through amplitube/softube for cryin out loud (does it get any worse for a metal guitar choice?). The things we do for friends eh?
  10. A bit of a stretch for this board sorry, but i dont post on any better boards for it. Im doin a mix in logic for my friends metal project, but its been about a decade since i worked on a metal project. Wondering if any of you logical metalheads can recomend a modern metal track you think is mixed to perfection. Its heavy guitars the whole way, in d flat, somewhere inbetween avenge sevenfold pod lameness and hardcore riff wise. singer has a gritty but melodic voice and wants to keep the vocal as realistic as possible. I got all the usual tricks down and it already sounds great, i just want to reference the levels and general eqs cuz my techno brain is makIng a mix thats way too wall of sound high endy if you know what i mean. Anyone got a toon that fits the bill?
  11. Could anyone lend me some basic knowledge What circumstances might a trick be currently visable in the arrange window, yet not appear in the mixer with the arrange button active. This problem started showing up a short while ago, but seemingly at random, but my projects get pretty hectic so I must be doing something, but I can't figure out what. (butt) In this most recent one, I had imported some tracks and content from another project. I don't know if thats the reason, but it sounds like a good suspect. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.
  12. Ok I have it technically figured out, but I don't understand how I'm supposed to go about doing this in an organized way. So I'm having issues when two notes are played at the same time, then nothing happens. So when I only hit one note (either pattern group A-L or Individual Pattern 1-8) its working, but not only does this present the obvious snafu of not being able to switch from pattern, say, B 2 to pattern F 1 instantaneously (as letter and number must be changed at separate moments) but there also seems to be a delay on it being triggered of about a 16th note. What a drag. Of course I could figure out how to make it happen here, but this seems unnecessarily clumsy, and not something I'm willing to do on every project. So I still think I'm missing something here.
  13. I'm currently having trouble figuring out the best way to select patterns in Xfer's Nerve drum sequencing software. I also recall having similar issues with other sequencing plugins in logic. Mainly, I think, because manuals generally blow through how their plugins interact with host software. Ok so currently If I'm playing my Logic Project with no midi data in there yet, it plays Nerve's patterns properly. When I record enable the track that Nerve is on, I can hit notes in octaves 2 and 5, and they change the pattern in nerve as it should according to the brief chart in the Nerve manual. However if I plot out the same notes in midi regions, drawing the notes that should trigger the pattern I wish Nerve to play, the Nerve plugin does not react, and simply loops the last pattern I left it on. I attempted to get the desired results by creating an instrument in the Environment routed to the channel that Nerve is on. This didn't yield any results, and I was certain this would work. In both setups I am able to trigger pads (individual sounds) from Nerve with midi notes in the 3rd octave. This bit boggles me a bit. I must be losing my touch. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might get this Sequencer (AU Instrument Plugin) to respond to these notes, or why notes designated for one purpose (triggering pads) work, and notes for another purpose (Changing Patterns) do not have any effect as midi data? The manual also shows that midi CC signals can be used to select patterns, but it appears that this will only work for individual sounds, and not complete patterns, and is explaned even less than the method I am trying, so I'd rather not get into it yet, unless advised to. I know I'm talking about a particular plugin here, but I feel that other plugins may cause similar issues. Thanks for reading my blather! Any help?
  14. I'm making a bunch of apple loops from drum parts, and I'm trying to figure out the best/quickest way to assign transients, and have these transients present when I grab the loop from the apple loop browser. Right now, I'm taking audio regions, clicking audio->open in apple loops editor, adding the transients in there, saving, then from logic adding it to the apple loops library. At this point I believe the loop is behaving the way that I have intended from the transients I have added, adjusting the tempo to test it. However, it seems that when I later add the loop to a project from the library, that the embedded transients are not there. I'm listening and then checking in by opening it in the loop utility as I have above. Does anyone have an idea how I can get those transients to stick with the loops? Is there another method I should be using to go about this, etc.? Thanks!
