  1. Watch the videos and RTFM and then contact Ivan if you get stuck. I did loads of work setting up AG multis a while ago. Given Logic's new artic ID features and the new third party add ons (from SS and Babylon Waves) you might want to look again and see what the easiest way for you is.
  2. I get this bug in heavy projects, where the midi editor does not follow region selection. I thought it was well known... (10.3.2 as per sig)
  3. How much RAM do you need? How long is a piece of string? It all depends on what you are using doesn't it. I have a project with 110 tracks, runs like hot butter but it's audio, Logic instruments and mostly stock plug ins. I have another project that is 6 software instrument tracks, but they are all multis, and they are Berlin Woodwinds and the like - that project is like wading through thick mud. Playback takes forever and any edits are super gitchy - all because I am constantly maxing the RAM. I have another project with 20 tracks, but there are a couple of Output Kontakt instruments that bring my rMBP to its knees. 5k on a new MBP with the same RAM is not going to get you any more RAM if that's what you are missing. 5k also won't get rid of Logic's single core overload bug. And 5k on a new MBP will get you about 20% more power according to Geekbench, but that doesn't seem to me like it's going to change your life unfortunately - my rMBP shows almost identical geekbench scores to yours by the way so I feel your pain! (I do not own shares in AAPL)
  4. I also get weird sustain pedal on/off. I think there might be a "feature". There is the "feature" where, if I move a note in the piano roll under some circumstances, the Kontakt instrument will change (we had another thread on this a while ago and it was confirmed). I think there is something similar going on here. I think it's between Logic and Kontakt. Sometimes changing a note in Logic is sending something that triggers sustain on/off. I get this with Spitfire OA piano, Emotional Piano and NI pianos by the way. It's really easy to hear with Emotional Piano as the pedal noise is huge by default.

    USB Noise

This starts with a good explanation...http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-16104.html Sorry I can't find the nice easy instructions... have a search...

    USB Noise

I have the JU-06 and I had a noise problem from the USB connection. If you search around the web you'll find others with this problem and the answer - that worked for me - is to open up the USB cable and cut one of the wires... hang on... I'll find the link... cutting the ground wire... ah... can't find the thread I followed... but it was really easy...
  7. Two fingers and Facebook... now there's a thought
  8. Nice one... I think it's great if you can put off buying new hardware for as long as possible so I think this is some kind of community victory here! At least fingers crossed for your forthcoming projects!
  9. From reading around and trying to do orchestral tracks on a 16gb rMBP - with blazing fast internal plus SSDs - I think you are underpowered with a 2011 Mac Mini and no SSDs - especially for Play and HWO. I don't think it's Sierra/LPX10.x either as I have had the single core "bug" with Yosemite, El Capitan and now Sierra with all versions of 10.x.x. The amount of overloadedness hasn't noticeably changed across these versions. I use activity monitor all the time. It never shows more than 14.x GB of ram used. I think that is the max reading. I think you are maxing the ram. I have more bad news. I have a carefully crafted VEPro single machine template with e.g. BWW, CS2 etc - not that much - but with the ram maxed playback is stuttering and the single core is crazy. I could do better with purging Kontakt but that 16gb limit is still killer with serious orchestral work. More bad news. The scripters do use up more cpu. I use AG, you have SS. They are great but they are adding to the cpu overhead. And multi-timbral instruments also seem like bad news... they seem much worse for core overload What I have noticed is that the amount of auxes and how they are configured does make a difference in Logic, in terms of cpu efficiency. The other thing is that plug ins with moving graphical elements also kill - just turning on one stock Logic EQ analyser will spike the 8th core in a heavy project for me. I also had worse single core spikes when I always had a lot of effects on the master out. Now, I try to keep auxes to a minumum - one set of stem auxes and FX buses, only use stock plug ins during tracking, turn off all analysers during tracking, no fx on the master during tracking - and have tracks set to direct master out during tracking/composing so they are not going through auxes... but there are still times in medium-heavy projects when the 8th core will spike. So, you are not alone... and it's nothing that a slave PC, iMac or 2012-17 MP won't fix!
  10. Change the TB cable. I had loads of hassle with my OWCTB2 dock. Turned out the supplied OWC cable didn't work properly (drop outs, disconnects and non start ups). The only cables it liked were Apple ones €€€
  11. Started a project without my usual template. Added 16 auxes to set up my usual -tracks-into-groups/fx-sends-wet/dry/master- and got really annoyed with Logic's aux auto-numbering, so changed the aux numbers of existing software instruments so that the mixer would be orderly. Nothing but grief. This project now has to be opened with core audio disabled:( Also one phantom Kontakt track that goes crazy and plays itself, and I can't find any cause. At the moment I spend about 15% of my studio time troubleshooting this kind of thing and doing workarounds for single core overload. Not entirely content.
  12. I use AG, I bought but didn't end up using SS, I have researched ArtzID and ArtConductor. There is far more on VI-c than here about these and all three devs are regulars there so you can easily ask questions direct to Ivan(AG), Peter Schwartz and Babylon Waves - the magic of the interwebs! Actually I think they all post here as well! AG has a lot. It is also a bit daunting. The dev is not subtle in discussions;) But wow it is incredible. There are so many options there. It used to take a long time to manually edit the scripts for every instrument but the new tools make that much faster. And there's the new iPad stuff... it is just so vast and amazing, especially for the price IMHO. If you want to see artics in the automation and you want advanced custom options then AG. If you want artics in the automation lane and ArtConductor has your libs and you simple needs then go there. If you like the look of Peter's way to use midi channels, more of the event list and the recent stuff he has come up with to use smart controls - then start there. If you've got a lot of libs it's gonna be an investment in time...
