  1. Okies ....now looking at Sooperlooper ....are you using it as an audio unit plug-in ...or are you using it with Jack? Is there any real difference there? I am reading through the Sooperlooper documentation now. Thanks.
  2. Thanks. I will have to take a look at Sooperlooper since MSuperlooper is an expensive plug-in. Yes I had aded physical input in in the Mixer Environment previously because of similar problems with controlling an external TC Helicon Voicelive module. Being new to the whole environments concept I never even looked at the Clicks and Ports window prior to doing this. Obviously I have more studying to do on all this. But I do find Apple's Support documentation limiting regarding it. It does not seem to be as extensive as some of their other manual tutorials. Again ...I really appreciate you reaching out and helping, that is very kind of you and hopefully I can pay it forward in the future. Richard
  3. Hi again JakobP ...as a result of your input I did finally get this working. Thank you. However just setting Superlooper as a software instrument still did not get midi input into it. And in the midi and ports environment all I saw was a click, and input window and a keyboard with note input indications. What I did was use a physical input module for the digital i/o in the mixer environment and cable that to the software channel. Now it all works. One other question since you seem to be using this like I want to. With anything you are sending to Superlooper ...are you turning off that source channel's output and having its actual audio output come from Superlooper ...with Superlooper's output into the Stereo Out? For me it seems to be the only way to do this because I would be actually adding gain with the main instruments output mixed in with Superlooper's Output ...unless there is some setting that I am missing in Superlooper that does an input to output mute until the loop recording is stopped. Thanks again! Richard
  4. Ok ....I believ I understand and your help is great. In my Click and ports ...I then need to create the midi instrument and the channel strip? This may solvel a lot of other problems I have found. TY!
  5. Thanks JakobP ...it seems like you are doing exactly what I want to do. I want to control with an FCB1010. So do I have to actually setup a midi instrument for the FCB1010 in the midi environment and then cable it to the software instrument? I thought if you setup a software instrument channel it is already cabled to midi input. I have to admit ...Logic Pro definitely seems a challenge at times to get midi control happening.
  6. Will the software instrument channel then send midi messages straight into the plug-in? Both the Enso and the Superlooper have learn functions but using a regular audio track or an aux strip do not send midi messages straight into the Plug-in. In Logic's midi environment and using a monitor it looks like midi messages are transformed into fader message info when controlling stock Logic plug-ins and their learn function. But the third party plug-ins do not recognize these of course. I appreciate the help in figuring this out.
  7. Thanks ...How would you then send audio from another track into the looper then?
  8. I am having quite a time trying to get Logic Pro X to control parameters of third party plug-ins with a midi controller. Specifically I want to use a looper plug-in and I have tried two different plug-ins, Enso and MSuperlooper. I have also tried as, two different interfaces Presonus Firestudio Project and RME Fireface 400. I have delved into the whole midi environment to drill down and try to see what is going on and have not been able to resolve this. I tried using the plug-ins on an aux channel which is where I eventually want to use this but I also tried them on a regular channel strip. The only thing I can get happening is turning on and off the plug-in on a channel strip. But I get nothing when trying to control parameters of the plug-in. And I have read through a lot of Apple Support documentation about midi implementation ....but I know there is a lot more to learn there. If there is some trick to this that I have not been able to find yet, someone please educate me. Thanks, Richard
  9. It is the same way on Mainstage 2. However sometimes it does not actually start looping when you first hit it. I find I have to test before a performance to make sure it is going to work. Then if it is …it is usually OK ..but then there have been times!
  10. Can anyone testify that Mainstage 3 is better than Mainstage 2 for live looping. I use Mainstage 2 but find it's live looping undependable at times. Meaning sometimes I start looping and Mainstage implements the end of the loop before I hit the loop button to determine the end of the loop. Or …it will delay before it starts recording the loop. I am using it on a Mac Pro with OSX 10.6. There are also problems with playback …meaning unless I check before a performance to make sure that it plays back a prerecorded track ..there may be a delay when I hit the start for it. On both these issues …this is not always the case. Sometimes I can start Mainstage 2 up and all this will work properly right away. But it is not dependable. So the question is does Mainstage 3 cure these problems? I do not find anything in the documentation on Mainstage 3 that references fixes for these problems. And I will have to upgrade my operating system to use Mainstage 3 I believe. Thanks, RH
  11. Hi thanks …yes the latency I am referring to is in the Mainstage Preferences:Audio. I did not know about the trick on the channel strips so that is very cool to know, thank you. I don't have any other audio applications running but will make sure I shut down all other applications when I am using the Macbook Pro for this application. Thanks!
  12. Bingo ..I made a discovery. And I really don't understand this unless there was something in there that I did not realize …which is probably the case. I started from complete scratch on a concert. Building a patch from the ground up. Without any kind of processing going on with plug ins …..it was like playing out of an amp and completely comfortable. I then started to add some plug ins. First reverb, then EQ. However due to processing requirements on certain of these plugs …for instance using Linear EQ I got unacceptable latency …even though the stated roundtrip latency was still like 6 ms. Other EQ like channel EQ did not cause latency. This is just with one channel strip so far but I will build up from there and see what happens. Will more RAM help me out here? BTW …the Presonus was just as good as the RME in this situation. Not saying that it is as good as an RME but it performed comparably to the RME regarding Latency once I figured out the problem.
  13. Ok …let me add something here. I have been trying to get this happening with my Macbook Pro 2.2 ghz I7 on 10.7.5 with 4 GB RAM. When I hook up my studio Mac Pro 3.2Ghz on 10.6.8 with 8 GB RAM …bingo …it is like playing through and external amplifier. Huh? So the processor and RAM makes that big of a difference on a simple patch? And here is the deal …Mainstage tells me that my roundtrip latency on both of these setups is just over 6 ms ….but the MacPro does not feel the same at all! And I have done my best to make sure that all the settings are the same in Mainstage and the Interface? Is there something in the operating system on the MacPro that I need to tweak? I poked around there too ..they seem to be the same. I am feeling like I have something wrong on the MacPro. Any help would be appreciated.
  14. I am going to get this old link back up …I am trying this again for a live situation. I have tried a couple different interfaces …a Presonus LiveStudio Project and my trusty RME Fireface 400. I just cannot get an acceptable playing situation. I have taken the concert down to just a simple two input using and acoustic guitar with no plug ins. I cannot get the latency any lower than 6.3 ms …and playing through an external sound system it is not acceptable for what I am hearing. It is not possible to play in time. Mainstage has got to be just like plugging into an amp and playing out of it. I just don't get what I am doing wrong ….if anything. Is this not possible to do?
  15. Because I want different settings on each patch under the set. But I went ahead and copied and pasted the patch to all the channels …then deleted it at the set level. That worked and I could set each patch differently. Thanks for the reply.
