  2. Hi Atlas007, I'm familiar with Strum by AAS, thanks, was looking to avoid learning yet another plugin's idiosyncrasies. I suspected that what I'm asking is a daunting task, but I'm continually amazed by the things people have done and continue to do in Logic, especially since Scripter was added. This was an "it never hurts to ask" question. 🙂 Thank you for your reply and happy new year!
  3. Does anyone know of a script that can re-voice chords into a guitar voicing in standard tuning? Thank you in advance! P.S. I play guitar and realize I could do it the long way by memorizing the guitar's note structure, but that defeats the purpose of Scripter, IMHO.

  5. Quick question on this topic...I'm looking to expand the velocity range of a group of notes of different pitches & velocity values. Say I have 12 notes of different pitches & velocity values ranging in velocity from 72 to 96. I'd like to be able to randomly increase the distance between those notes' velocity values only (not their pitches). For example, to a velocity range of 60 to 112. In other words, I want to decrease the lowest velocity value and increase the highest velocity value of the group of notes I started with. Is this what exponential velocity is meant for? Thank you in advance.
  6. So you & I essentially followed the same steps...instead of deleting Logic 10.4x, I compressed it, moved it to an external drive, then unmounted that drive - same result. Some people get really bent out of shape over the sometimes weird & random restrictions Apple puts in to place, I usually find them amusing...in their way. As long as I can find a resolution online that is. Are you using 10.5 or 10.5.1 now?

  8. Posting the same question twice in one day on the same forum isn't necessarily going to get you an answer faster. If anything, it's going to create extra work for David and his administrators who already work hard to answer questions and fight against entropy. I replied to your question on the first post and oscwilde replied on this post. If you'd waited a bit longer, they would all be on the same page. Just some friendly advice. 😉
  9. In my experience, Drummer follows time signatures quite well with the follow function enabled. The project I'm working on today uses cut time, 7/8 & 7/16, and Drummer adapted to the rhythm grouping perfectly on the first try in each case. The preset it adds may not necessarily match what I want stylistically, but the feel is always accurate. Try one or all of the following: - In addition to setting 2/4 at the project level, manually add 2/4 event(s) to the signature lane: click on the global tracks button and make sure the signature track is showing, open the list editors pane and click on the signature tab at the far right. In the tracks window, place the cursor where you want to insert the event and press the “+” button in the top left of the signature list editor tab - make sure Time is selected, not Key. The time signature window will open and as a bonus, you’ll be able to specify the beat grouping you want. - Refresh the regions you’ve already created. Every refresh changes the pattern and it's likely you'll stumble upon a pattern you like. - Create a MIDI region on an adjacent instrument track with notes emulating the rhythm you want, place that region above a Drummer region, Cmd-U to set locators then set that instrument track as the Follow source. I realize you tried that, but based on what you wrote this might give a better result. - Drag a Drummer region into an instrument track; it will become an editable MIDI region, then you can just edit/create the rhythm you want. It's not defeating the purpose because Drummer isn't infallible and never claimed to be. - Click on a Drummer region, engage the follow function to your reference region and select different presets. And/or: (first make sure "keep settings when changing drummers" and "keep drum kit when changing drummers" are both selected in Drummer's "GUI") try different categories, the drummers within and their presets. Drummer is an awesome resource IMHO, but it can’t do everything, it often needs tweaking. The difference between 2/4 and 4/4 is often less obvious in contemporary popular music, unlike a Sousa march. I often see it added after 4/4 as a way of fitting a long lyric phrase (John Lennon-style). Speaking of, "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" is my 2/4 reference.
  10. And you have helped me with a few score editor issues in turn. Paying it forward! I know a Professor at Berklee who prepared his final score to earn a DMA using Logic's score editor. And this was back in 1999.
  11. Unfortunately yes, it's out of print. I'm transmitting this message from the future using Emperor Musk's tachyon transmitter...way back in April 2023, Jay offered to revise and self-release his Score Editor book if a core group of people committed to pay in advance. He got enough verbals, but a few disappeared when it was time to pay so he pulled the plug. I was disappointed, but it happened in the Facebook Logic Score Editor group so I wasn't surprised. In the name of Elon, I bid you good day sir.
  12. Don't feel bad, I've done that too. This is how we learn. Unfortunately for me, I did it on a remix for a band I really like and it was only my second time doing any kind of remix at all, for anyone. I oversold myself. Their singer was cool about it, but I'm sure it got played for laughs at some point later on. I made sure to understand sample rates and bit-depth & dithering after that. I hope you're able to recover most or all of your work. 🙂
  13. I didn't realize that! Now that I think about it, I don't ever remember paying extra attention to a Drummer track's channel strip - I just assumed that Drummer was some complex beast buried below the environment that wouldn't allow for customization. I'll bet it was those weird looking, uneditable, ne'er-do-well regions that planted the seed of doubt. Thanks David!
  14. I don't know, that's a really good point. I've never tried it because I always use multichannel drum kits. Have you gotten it to work? I'm curious.

Yes, I really like this approach and use it on the majority of my Logic projects...sometimes as you described, or a myriad of other ways...sometimes I double the drums with a second kit if the song benefits from it. Punch by Rob Papen and a detailed, flexible EQ like Pro-Q3 are particularly good for that. Using multi-channel mode/producer kits definitely increases the complexity, but with planning, VCAs & the notes area on every channel it's worth the hassle IMHO.
