  1. In my case, the options will be either Fusion Drives or fast HDD's. SSD won't be an option right now due to space limitations (hard to find SSD's over 2TB at this point in time). So the question is Fusion or 7200 HDD?
  2. I've dug through the forums to find a lot of older posts from when Fusion drives were still in their infancy, so I'm curious, as of 2018, is setting up a Fusion drive for Sample Libraries a good or bad move? How about a Fusion drive for storing/playing back Logic projects? Thanks! David
  3. I tried doing that but it wouldn't allow me to do that. What I did find however is that I can create an empty region on a track, then move it to a track stack master track (only if the stack is closed/collapsed) and that seems to do the trick. Good thinking. I'll add these empty regions to the template. It all sounds like a bug to me, which I'll report to Apple. Hopefully something they can fix in the future. Thanks.
  4. Hi all! I frequently need to hide all the unused tracks in one go. Since my session template consists of over 150 tracks, I'm often needing to hide over a hundred tracks in my projects. Thankfully, I've found the option to Edit –> Select Tracks –> Unused, which works almost as expected, as it highlights all the unused tracks for me, at which point I can hide them all in one go. Unfortunately, there's one problem. Since many of my tracks in my template are organized in track stacks, the above mentioned "Select Tracks –> Unused" function also highlights the actual track stacks (even if a stack has sub-tracks with regions on them). This is problematic because hiding the track stack will also hide all the tracks within the stack. So, currently, I'm having to manually unselect (Command + Click) each track stack before performing my Hide. This is clearly a bug, as a stack with tracks with regions on them should not be considered "unused". Does anyone know of a way to select all the unused tracks without selecting track stacks? Thanks! David
  5. I'm having the same problem. Trying to Export "All Tracks As Audio Files" in Logic Pro X 10.3.2. Unfortunately not much success. With multi-output Kontakt instruments, only the first output pair is being rendered correctly. All others are full of silence. Most of the other output tracks are even truncated to last only till the beginning of the first region. Then it's cut. All the instruments I'm using in this session are Kontakt. I thought that maybe it's a new Kontakt issue, so I downgraded from 5.6.8 to 5.6.6. Same problem. Any suggestions on how to fix it?
  6. Hello all! I have a great Logic Pro X template setup. One of the tracks in my templates sends to an external MIDI device. All works great. However lately I've decided that I use it so infrequently it's a shame having it on all the time. So I keep the device off. This means that now when my template starts up (or any Logic Project which has that external MIDI track in it), Logic gives me the standard error message: And all of that makes sense. Of course the device is just switched off, so I want to keep it unassigned. The annoyance lies in the fact that this error message pops up on eery single session or every new project I open. Is there a way to disable showing this message at all? Or set it to "Always Keep Unassigned"? Thoughts? David
  7. Hello All! So I have some great news! First off, I want to give a shout-out to the developers at Moom who were great at responding with various suggestions and trying to figure out why this was happening. As it turns out it wasn't in fact anything Moom related. It was a Logic bug after all. One that affected computers running 10.9.5. Yesterday Apple released an update that brings Logic Pro X to version 10.2.2. Check out the release notes, they specifically mention fixing the issue: "All menus now open reliably on computers running OS X 10.9.5." https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203718 I did my testing and all menu’s do in fact work again. And they play beautifully with Moom. So Yay! Just update to LPX 10.2.2 and that should fix things for you. Hope this helps anyone who has been having this issue.
  8. I did eventually figure out where the culprit was. In my case it was Action Strikes. Apparently it can't handle tempo changes. Go figure. Getting rid of those instruments totally fixed the errors for me. Hopefully it helps someone too.
  9. Has anybody been able to resolve this terrible issue? I can't score a film anymore. Overload every single time there's a tempo change. God forbid a tempo ramp. It won't play through it AT ALL. Let me know if you have any ideas.
  10. Ok. Thanks. That seemed to work. Is there any easy way to find which two tracks are sending to the same object? Currently the way I do it is see what volume automation value I'm looking for and see which track has that. Once I find the correct one and moving the volume automation moves the fader on the other track then I know it's the one. But with close to 180 tracks in this session and many duplicates this is proving to take a while.
  11. I guess so. How do I go about assigning them to their own objects? Thanks!
  12. Hi I'm working on some sessions in LP9 which throughout the years have been ported from LP6->7->8->9. Needless to say these are old sessions. Yet they work most of the time. I have noticed however that there are instances when after a selective import of tracks from an equally old-running session I get automation issues. Where two tracks seem to be controlling the same channel strip. So let's say track #123 has some volume automation written into it. And it follows it, but every second or so it jumps to another value. Then if I stop and look around it turns out that there's another track somewhere (let's say #47) which has volume automation on it which seems to be affecting the same track. So removing the automation on #47 fixes the volume jumps on #123. Is there any easy way to update these old sessions to make sure that each track in fact has its own control in the mixer? I've tried importing the session to LPX, but that didn't fix it. Thanks!
  13. Yes, I have. It yields no change. Any other ideas on how to add new tracks?
  14. Hi I need to port a large LPX session into LP9. I have exported the midi and saved every channel strip setting in LPX to easily recreate them in LP9. The CSS's show up in LP9 but clicking them yields no result. I can load any of the CSS's I created in LP9, but none of the ones in LPX. Ideas? David
