  1. Could be that the Sonys are hard to drive but don't meet the threshold to trip into the higher voltage, it's kinda a pain with this new headphone amplifier, it's actually lower voltage than before unless your headphones are over 150ohms. It would be much more ideal if we had a way to manually switch it
  2. I used Logic for ten years, now I predominantly use Ableton. Ableton 11 has comping. Ableton is about 100x more fun to create on and so much more intuitive, especially if you're an electronic musician. I would still recommend Logic to people who record more, such as singer/songwriters
  3. Cheers, definitely more streamlined than the apogee duet I'm currently using, might try one out
  4. I have a 16" one of these on the way and love the idea of the automatic voltage adjustment for high-impedance headphones https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212856 , but I have AKG K712s and despite being under the switchover point of 150ohms (they are 62ohms) they are very hard to drive, such that they actually play back quieter on these new machines than my previous macbook pro (tested with a friend's 14"). Ideally what I would like to do is switch the voltage manually, or find a way to trick the headphone out into supplying higher voltage. Has anyone seen this done or know if it's possible? Thanks a lot
  5. Didn't see Disclosure on the list, they're huge and use Logic for 95% of things
  6. Was thinking about Air vs Pro, think this has settled it for Air. Definitely like the non fan and non touchbar aspect too. Will wait to see what they announce tomorrow at WWDC and then decide
  7. It's pretty hard to tell if it would work for you specifically to be honest, for example how many instances of each of those plugins would you be running at once? I'd be inclined to say the 13" won't be powerful enough for you. Seems like a massive downgrade just to not get fan noise, not to mention the resale bath you're gonna take selling 2 near new intel macs in the space of a couple of years. It's a tough one mate, you could always buy a 13" to try, copy your computer to it, try it out and send it back if it's the same result. I'd be inclined to think with what you're running the 13" is gonna be cranking its fans just from CPU usage anyway
  8. Logic is notoriously terrible for sidechaining in my opinion, you might have to bus out the kick separately and use that as the sidechain input
  9. My M1 Mini does 95 in the new logic benchmark, this is while running as a headless machine which seems to be using a bit of CPU according to activity monitor
  10. Using my Mac Mini M1 for the past day or so, it's a great machine but honestly it's a bit of an ass around getting some stuff inline, especially when it comes to some obscure programs. if you only use Logic plugs and really well known plugins it's pretty good. But for audio work in general, especially if you do it professionally, I'd be content with what you have! Some things are requiring some odd workarounds. And if you need Boot Camp it's an absolute no brainer to stick with your machine for now
  11. Not really to be honest, I could download a Demo of something to check. Most of my stuff is synth based. Been delayed by a day. Getting a 8GB 512GB so should be easy to find it's RAM limitations
