  1. Hi all, I'm trying to use the Velocity Processor plugin to dial in a harder velocity curve on the Steinway Grand piano patches. What I've found is that the sustain pedal seems to defeat any changes to the velocity curve. It definitely prevents the harder samples from triggering with a steep curve and though it's harder to tell, I think it might be preventing softer samples with a flatter curve. The issue appears to be only with the Steinway samples and not the Yamaha or other pianos. Any ideas?
  2. thanks much for your reply, I'll keep working with it
  3. Hi there, I created a concert in Mainstage 2.1.3. I sent it to a friend who has Mainstage 2.2.2, and he, for some reason, is getting an error message: "The Concert could not be opened because it was created with a newer version of Mainstage." But the concert was created with an older version. My copy was installed from Logic Studio 9, sounds like 2.2.2 on his machine was an App Store download. Any ideas??
  4. Thanks for the response. I think my problem ran a little deeper than that - I'm having a tough time pinpointing what the actual problem is, it's so odd. I've never seen regions change names when selected (and there's no overlapping region). No worries, I found a previous version of the project and reworked some things, so all is well. Thanks!
  5. Hello all, I have ten drum tracks, grouped (with phase-lock editing), flexed, and quantized. I need to replace one measure where the drummer made an error. It should be easy because it's a repetitive groove, but I'm getting some very strange behavior. If I attempt to option-drag another measure to replace the flawed measure, I end up with the top region doubled, and the regions out of order on the tracks below. Actually, sometimes I'll merely select a region (which turns out to be a group of regions because of the group editing), and some of the region names will change. I'm so frustrated - any help, please?
  6. Your theory worked for me, anyway. I can't find how to mark a post as 'solved,' but this one is. Thanks for your help!
  7. Ah - fabulous! You have a newer version of MS, so I wasn't able to open, but I worked it out according to your description. That did it. Can you give me an idea of what you mean when you say that an AUX wasn't deleted properly? I'd like to avoid it in the future. Thanks!
  8. Great - thanks so much! pre-fader problem.zip
  9. Hello, I have a problem with dry signal coming through pre-fader sends. I normally use Mainstage (version 2.1.3) as a keyboard rig, but I've had this same issue trying to process vocal effects, too. I've run into this problem more than once: a concert is set up and running as expected Then, I open it another day and I get the direct (dry) signal with the channel fader down and pre-fader aux send up. If I mute or lower the fader on the aux channel, the dry signal remains, going straight to the Output bus. Just now, I saved the aux channel strip setting, opened up a new concert, and set up an instrument with a pre-fader send, then loaded the exact same aux channel strip setting. Everything worked fine in the new concert. Am I dealing with a corrupt concert file? Is there a way to correct the problem without starting over? Thanks for your help!!
  10. Hi all, does anyone know a way to disable 3rd party plugin warning screens that pop up when opening a project? For example, whenever I open a project that uses iLok plugs and I don't have the dongle hooked up, a screen pops up saying I can't use that plugin on this session (I know that...) and it suspends loading the project until I hit OK. Do that for each 3rd party protected plugin on the project, then Logic's warning window pops up. Any way around this?
  11. Thanks - that makes a lot of sense - I'll dig in and find something that works.
  12. Hi, I'm guessing this is a pretty basic question, but I haven't been able to locate the solution, so here you go... Take a patch like "Eighties Synth Bass" (ES2) - what parameter can I change to make the attack the same whether a note is already on or not? I'm aiming for the smooth attack I get when there's another note already on instead of the chirpy/buzzy attack that happens when all other notes are off. Thanks for your help!
  13. I understand if you don't have the money to drop on Live right now, but it sounds to me like that's where you want to be. Live can do a lot of things that Logic can't, and definitely vice versa. If you're going to be stuck with Logic for now (it could be much worse ), then Ski's suggestion is legit.
  14. I just remembered: if anyone ever read Faulkner in high school, there's an entire chapter in one of his books that reads, "My mother is a fish." Thank my public school education for that one.
