  1. Actually, I have now isolated the cause, which is the creation of the preference files com.apple.logic.pro.list and in particular com.apple.logic.pro.cs. At the exact moment the second file is created, the "audio device has been removed". Any suggestions?
  2. Lately, for no apparent reason, while working on Logic, I have suddenly been "losing" my audio interface, which means that the sound starts coming out of the build-in speaker of the Mac. Of course, I also lose the MIDI connection. If I restart both the computer and the interface, it all comes back working, although usually not for longer than 10-15 minutes. I have tried several things, such as checking hardware and cables, re-installing the Mbox 2 Pro Drivers, removing/trashing the Logic Preference file, etc., but to no avail. Has anybody ever had this kind of problem before? I am quite surprised, as my system, althought rather obsolete, has been working really well for the past 7-8 years. Any suggestions or solution to the problem would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks! Logic 9.1.8 Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro Factory Mac 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3) OS X 10.6.8.
  3. If I use the MBox and the internal drives only with the Mac Pro, it works just fine. Could you explain why I can use the MBox + 3 external drives (in chain) and Logic with my MacBookPro and it works perfectly? Many thanks M
  4. I have an additional internal drive and I use 3 firewire external drives for back up. I don't see why the external drives should case this kind of problem. I work with other producers who use a Mac Pro with loads of external drives and they have never faced this issue. Moreover, when I use my MacBookPro with the very same 3 external drives, it works perfectly. Is there anything I should know about the new Mac Pros? Thanks again M
  5. Sorry for the late reply. Been busy with sessions. So far I have only managed to isolate the problem, but I definitely don't know the solution. If I don't have any external hard drives (I use 3) connected to the Mac Pro, the audio works, both in Logic and anywhere else in the computer. When any or all of the drives are mounted, the audio works initially on the desktop, but when I launch Logic it stops and I can only reboot the system to get the initial sound. What the hell???????????? The plot thickens... Thanks for you help M
  6. Hi David, Thanks for the prompt reply. The new driver didn't do the trick. And yes, the sample rate of the MBox is the same as in Logic's settings 44.1 kHz. Any other suggestions? This is a real mystery!?! Thanks again for your help. Michele C.
  7. Hi there, I have just bought a new Mac Pro (2 x 2.4 8-Core Intel Xeon) with 16 GB or RAM. I mainly use Logic (9.1.4) in conjunction with an old MBox 2 Pro, as I occasionally also need to use ProTools (v8). In the past few days, the following has been happening more and more often. When I start my computer, the Mbox 2 Pro plays audio just fine. Not always (which is already annoying!), but most of the times. If it doesn't, a simple rebooting of the system solves the problem. However, since yesterday, when I've been opening Logic, the audio doesn't play through the interface, even if the MBox appears in Logic's Audio Preferences. This time rebooting doesn't work. I have downloaded the MBox 2 Pro Driver for ProTools 9, but that has not changed anything. As I use ProTools 8, I am now going to re-install the Core Audio Driver for PT8. Anyhow, I am just trying everything I can think of. If anybody out there, could kindly shed any light on this problem, I would be immensely grateful. Michele C.
