I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me with this. I've looked around the internet as well as through Korg's documentation to get this to work and I haven't found a way.
What I'm looking for: I want to use logic as my MIDI master to slave the Kronos to it. I want to be able to send MIDI to 16 different Kronos tracks and eventually be able to bounce those regions to audio.
What I've done: I've attempted to add external MIDI tracks to Logic's arrange page, selecting the Kronos in the port drop-down and setting individual MIDI channels as well. I've done this both with and without the Kronos sequencer and neither produces any sound. Note* I've also turned the local switch in Global settings on the Kronos off, as well as enabled MIDI to be slaved to Logic. I should also mention that I'm connecting the Kronos to my MacBook Pro via USB2.
The closest I've gotten is to open up a software instrument track, set the insert as external instrument where I designate the Kronos across all MIDI channels on the insert settings, then duplicate the tracks and change the channel settings on the arrange page 1-16 to match up with the programs selected in Kronos's sequencer. This works up to a point; I can get individual programs to play back their designated sounds but I don't get individual control over the arrange tracks in order to mute or solo. They either all mute or all solo. This seems to be because the external instrument insert has a MIDI setting set to "ALL", but changing the channel of one insert changes every channel to match it. I thought I could get around this by just muting the midi regions, but I quickly found out that none of the MIDI regions will bounce their output to audio, and this inability to bounce the MIDI regions happens regardless of whether there are muted MIDI regions and despite having a visible meter reading on the main output.
If anyone has used this set up successfully or knows someone who has, I would greatly appreciate a little bit of help on this one.
