  1. Hey folks! I'm testing out some new (for me) waters involving EDM / electronica, and I'm trying to figure out how to best mix a track that I created over the weekend of the Global Game Jam. Here's the track itself! Any feedback would be welcome; thanks in advance!
  2. Hey Mike: thanks for the feedback! This was exactly what I was looking for: I feel especially grateful that you gave such a thorough study of it! I really agree with you about the need to clarify section beginnings and endings more, as well as some of the mixing involved. I'm planning on giving it another go-over for polish in the next week, and I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind!
  3. Hey folks! I just wrapped up a rearrangement of Frog's Theme, from Chrono Trigger, and am hoping to clean it up a little. Can anybody with fresh ears give me a vote as to what I should focus on? Here it is!
  4. Hey folks! I'm working on a short cue and have a rough cut of it. Before I start rewriting and cleaning things up, I wanted to get some feedback from you folks: I'm looking for everything from mixing to fixes on individual sections. Thanks for the listen! [soundcloud] [/soundcloud]
  5. Hey-ya, fellow Logicians, Just wrapped up this classic from John Williams. I plan on switching it over to a new reverb eventually, but for right now am just proud of the accomplishment. I had to upgrade my machine to a Hackintosh in order to have the power to work on this piece (40 virtual instruments across five or six hefty sampling libraries)... but I think it will be worth it. Let me know what you think! [soundcloud] [/soundcloud]
  6. Hey folks! Just wrapped up my fifth youtube video studying film music, and thought some of the film score folks on this forum might either get some use out of it, or be able to give some advice for the next video. Hope it's helpful to someone! (Sorry, can't figure out how to get this forum's 'Youtube' tags working.
  7. Hey folks! I just wrapped up a cut of "The Moon" from the NES classic "DuckTales". Now my ears are tired of it and I'm looking for any advice on what I should focus on during the polish. e voila: [soundcloud] [/soundcloud] Any input would be much appreciated!
  8. Hey there, fellow logicians! So, I have temporarily hit a dead end in my quest to build 'group tracks' in Logic. My orchestration teacher can get this done no sweat using Cubase, but I've tried a few different solutions and can't find a method to do it in Logic. The Goal: I want to group all my strings into a single track whose fader I can control. So, for example, I could still balance my strings individually within the family (using their separate faders), but I could also balance the entire family within the orchestra. I would also be able to quickly bounce individual family stems. But I don't know if Logic provides this feature. It's Not Groups... Because groups don't let me change each instrument's volume individually AND balance the section as a whole. It's Not Folders... Because those just group instruments visually. It's Not Busses... Because those are for effects, and don't pipe the whole signal to a single fader knob. I'm sure I'm just missing something about Logic, and hence knew I should come crying to you guys. Any tips?
  9. Hey fellow music lovers! I've been working on a series of youtube videos studying film music, and now that I have a few under my belt, I wanted to run one by this forum and see if anybody had some advice for how to improve them (am I going too slowly through topics? Should I focus only on modern films?) The third video, on instrumental symbolism, is here, but if you'd prefer a video on diegetic music or use of themes, just go earlier in the playlist. Any thoughts?
  10. Thanks, Nickillus, I'm planning on remixing and expanding from this point out.
  11. Greetings, fellow logicians! I recently got asked to throw out some test tracks for a game project (http://www.galvanicgames.com/therustbelt/). This style (country/rock) isn't really the sort of thing I usually try, so any help or advice would be much appreciated so I can take it to heart during the rewrites. If you have three minutes... [soundcloud] [/soundcloud][soundcloud] [/soundcloud] Anybody who gives me feedback is a gentleman/lady, and a scholar!
  12. Ach! I swear, I did a search first! I really did! Dunno why that topic didn't come up! I owe you one, thanks.
  13. Nuff said, really. I've been trying to find a way to look up error codes from Logic Pro 9, but no luck. Anybody else ever hit this issue? My setup: Logic Pro 9 OS X 10.9.5 2009 iMac 8 GB RAM
  14. Greetings, fellow logicers, So... a friend of mine has gotten me a little hooked on the idea of fooling around with Vocaloids. I only own Logic as my DAW, and I usually focus exclusively on Fauxrchestra stuff, but I wouldn't mind doing something kooky for a break. Looks like the basic vocaloid products only work with Cubase. Does anybody here do Vocaloids in Logic? Any tips on how to get started?
  15. You're too nice, nickillus. Thanks for the encouragement!
