I’m borrowing a Yamaha FS1R and love the Full Tines patch, but the polyphony isn’t adequate. Plus, I have to give this box back to my buddy eventually. I know it was an over-used sound back in the day but the Yamaha FM electric piano patches really take me back to my childhood. I just can’t shed them. So when Apple announced Autosampler, I got pretty excited.
I just made my first EXS sampler patch using MainStage and Autosampler and the results are pretty fantastic but my higher note sustains are cutting out early. I realize higher notes are often sampled with shorter record times, but for this patch, I need about 25 seconds of sustain for every sample. I watched the whole process and I noticed that while the lowest notes were sampled at 25 seconds, with each higher note, the sustain times were automatically shortened. The highest notes were recorded at about 6 seconds.
Anyone know how I can achieve the 25 second record times for every note? Perhaps Redmatica’s version had a setting that would optionally automatically shorten higher note sustain times? Maybe Apple hardwired this setting?
- I set the FS1R to full volume.
- Brought the stereo signal into my MOTU Traveler and set the input level so Autosampler showed a peak between -6 and -3 for the loudest velocities.
- Set range from A1 to C7.
- Set Sample Every to 3 semi.
- Sustain to 25.0 sec.
- Velocity Layers to 8.
- Velocity Response to Linear.
- Auto Loop to none.
- Input Gain 0 db.
