  1. That did the trick - thanks so much, David!!
  2. Hey all! Been a bit...I'm working on something right now that requires me to do a lot of fades. A friend of mine showed me this Lil Nas X demo project that comes with a new version of Logic, and when you split at playhead in that project, it automatically applies a fade. I've combed through any relevant preference/setting that I could find in Logic, but have come back empty-handed. Anyone know where I can toggle this on? Bonus points if a fade can be applied like this on both affected regions! See attached for ref. Thanks in advance for your help everyone! Screen Recording 2023-08-14 at 10.44.21 AM.mp4
  3. ability to natively bounce as Ogg Vorbis In Export Audio to Movie, set the default Bit Depth to 24 Automatically name tracks based on 3rd party plug-ins Batch edit Track names - i.e. I want to add a suffix onto the end of the name of a track Bring back Black and White as colors in the Color Palette. Additionally, add grayscale. That would be very useful for me at least! I'm sure there's more, those are the two that I currently have to deal with haha
  4. I get this sometimes with some of my libraries/VST's. In my case at least, usually I just need to nudge the system the right way. Here are some things that have worked for me... flip the I/O buffer size in Preferences>Audio>Devices. So if I'm at 1024, flip it to 512, then back to 1024 similarly, in Project Settings>Audio, and flipping the sample rate back and forth reload the VST/sample library instance. Save it as a preset if you want to save your work on it, and load up a whole new instance using that preset reboot the system, if you haven't yet
  5. It was helpful as a filler and glue for balancing the overall drum kit sound. I was doing this a lot about 10 years ago, IIRC it was especially useful for giving a sense of space, air, and some clarity to the general kit sound in the high mids and highs; especially helpful with drum solos and the like.
  6. A few thoughts: The sound you're going for here, in some ways, resembles a snare drum to me. Consider using that kind of miking technique as a starting point, and adjust accordingly. Sticking with the drum kit lens - back in my recording engineer days, for the snare my general go-to was either an SM57 or Audix i5. Then, supported by some kind of overhead mic - either a pair of AKG C414's overhead, or if it was a live recording, I'd put a single Røde NT-5 over the drummer's head. Or hey, why not both the C414's and the NT-5 in tandem? If ya have the inputs, smoke 'em if ya got 'em. Anyway... I'd recommend using both inputs on your Scarlett 212. Dynamic mic close to the source for definition, condenser as an overhead for a sense of space. This article may be helpful for ya, too. https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/best-mics-recording-snare-drums/ What's this recording for? Sound design? Music? Hope this is helpful!
  7. I changed nothing and it just started working again? I think it's time to print stems!
  8. I updated to Kontakt 6 recently to fix some issues. I've been using their workaround where you go into the Finder's Library, trash the Kontakt preferences and Application Support files, reboot, open standalone Kontakt and then re-open your Logic session. Here's what I'm talking about for clarity: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360002000837-Kontakt-crashes-Logic-Pro-X-en-us- However, unfortunately, that has not been working as of tonight. Does anyone have any guidance on this? Anything else I can or should do to get around this issue that doesn't involve rebuilding my writing template from scratch and having to manually re-route every single one of my midi channels on each of my multi timbral instruments within Logic when I import my session data? Thanks in advance for your help
  9. Thank you for your replies! I have the same thing where every note gets selected. I guess I should give more context here - I'm doing some virtual orchestration for a project with a client, a string quintet. Usually for switching between articulations, I use either different patches (vln leg, vln stcc etc.) keyswitches. I'm using LA Scoring Strings for this project, not any sounds that are native to Logic. Now, the Score Editor is one part of Logic that I haven't spent a lot of time in at all, I'm more of a piano roll guy. I could be wrong here, but after a little research, it seems that the articulation ID function plays nicely with anything native to Logic, but might not work so well with 3rd party libraries. That being said, if I were to make a note staccato in the Score Editor via drag and drop from the Part Box, will that automatically designate the corresponding Articulation ID? This does not seem to happen when I do this, maybe there's a setting that I need to flip somewhere? Either way, I've mostly got around what I needed to do just by selecting notes manually for the time being.
  10. Hey all! Quick question for ya - Is there a way to select notes based on articulation within the Score Editor? I couldn't find anything in the key commands like "select same articulation" or (optimistically) "select all staccato". Anyone have any insights? Thank you all for your help!
  11. Wait! Never mind, I just found it.... Users>Music>Audio Music Apps>Custom Icons
  12. Hi All, Anyone find the location of the Custom Icon Folder in Logic X 10.4? I have some old custom icons that I'd like to update and replace, but cannot seem to find the folder that houses my custom icons anymore. Thank you for your help!
  13. There's 2 that are consistent and haven't been resolved by reboots/trashing prefs. First one is when I go to load some patches within the browser of a multi-output instance of Play 5, my session will crash. It's usually resolved by a reboot, or opening a new stereo instance of Play 5. I can live with it, but it's a bit of a pain sometimes. Second one is when I go to load up a session that has 'All Cymbals.ewi' from EWQL Orchestra Library, sometimes the samples for that patch cannot be found. I think I've narrowed it down to the file getting corrupted somehow. I've tried... Trashing my preferences for Logic Deleting, re-downloading and re-installing the EWQL Orchestra Library Deleting, re-downloading and re-installing the Play Engine Deleting, re-downloading and re-installing the EW Installation Center Testing EWQL Orchestra Library on my home rig to make sure it works. Then, deleting EWQL Orchestra Library off of the rig in question, and replacing it with the EWQL Orchestra Library on the rig that works I haven't tried deleting, re-downloading and re-installing Logic. Maybe that would be something to consider? Have you run into something like this? Thanks in advance for your input! Never mind my rambling, I just figured out my issue after spending a little more time with it today. It turned out to be an iLok issue with EWQL Platinum Plus Samples conflicting with EWQL Gold and Silver Samples. All good! And, Play 6 is great! Been using it for the past couple of hours today.
  14. Happy to hear it's working out on your end, Jay! I'm going to go for it.
