  1. Hi ski, The original problem occurred with the paste destination on a different region of the same track. When I merged the regions I now notice that the paste at bar 43 actually works but for some reason the playhead moves to bar 93 after the paste has completed. I do remember, in another experiment, that the behavior of pasting notes going to the wrong place much later in the track (seen after I expanded the region). But I can seem to reproduce that problem.
  2. Didn't help unfortunately. Has anyone else reproduced the behavior on their end? I'm Running Logic 10.2.2 and OSX 10.11.5
  3. There seems to be an issue with the way the items are pasted. When I use the dropdown menu in the piano roll editor the copy and paste functions work fine. When I use the Copy and Paste menu on the Top Apple menu it doesn't work. Unless I'm missing something this seems to be a bug in Logic. Have a look at the two videos here for a clear representation of the problem:
  4. See attached. Just copy a bunch of notes from the beginning and then paste towards the end at bar 43. logic copy and paste.zip
  5. Thanks for your reply David. Tried joining the regions but it still shows the same behavior.
  6. I can't seem to another simple thing in Logic like copy and paste notes from one track to another. Logic seems to want to do it's own thing and puts the notes somewhere else. I have made a video of this strange behavior. I basically want to do what I show in the video; select notes from one track, move the playhead to another position and paste those notes. I'm thinking that the word 'Logic' should be removed from the name of the software, perhaps something like 'I know what's better so I'll do my own thing... Pro'. Any takers on the new name?
  7. Oh, I might have to get used to doing it that way then. I think it's weird that you don't have a simple, consistent, play/pause button on the Audio file editor but maybe that's just me. In any case, thanks for your help on this one.
  8. I might have accidentally changed the key command but when I Control+Spacebar in the audio file editor it always plays from the beginning of the audio file (or the selected portion of it) rather then where I stopped it (like a pause).
  9. space bar is assigned to 'Play or Stop' in key command.
  10. Hello, I am flummoxed by the audio file editor and the simple process of play and stop. 1. Pressing the space bar will play back audio 2. Pressing the space bar again will pause audio playback 3. Pressing it a 3rd time will play the audio from where it stopped from step 2. This is common sense and works well. BUT... If you move the play head to another position by double clicking the area just above the play head, it activates the prelisten button and then the behavior above changes. Pressing the space bar will stop the playback and ***move*** the play head back to the position it was **before** the prelisten button was activated. This seems insane to me. It means that the play head is moving all over the place to unexpected positions. I simply want the behavior of 1,2,3 regardless of whether I activate the prelisten button. Is there a way I can achieve the following behavior: move the play head using the mouse (a) press the space bar at some future point (b) and when I press the space bar again, it resumes from where it stopped from the (b) position.
  11. Hi Eric, Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately doing both screws up the midi environment (see attached). Saving as a template is not an option because I will have a 15 of these separate templates and I only want to include the relevant ones for any one piece. It might be that with a very large piece all will be included but that would be rare.
  12. Hello all, I have setup some Logic projects each with a different group of instruments e.g. 4 Trumpets, 4 Horns. A screen shot of the project with 4 Trombones is attached and as you can see there is quite a bit of setup in both the track list and midi environment. My goals is to create many such project and when creating a new project import the required sets of instruments into the new project. Here is where I am having problems. I have tried using File > Import > Other and selecting the instruments to import. This works well except the MIDI Environment setup is not imported. Then I tried importing the Layer via MIDI Environment > Options > Import > Layer... and selecting the layer to import. This does a great job of importing the layer but doesn't bring over the software instrument setup. I need an import routine to do both. Any ideas?
  13. Thanks for the quick reply David, The summing stack seem to do what I need.
  14. Hello, I am liking the track stack feature to combine a group of tracks together and thereby enabling the disclosure arrow. In large projects this is handy to reduce the number of visible tracks. I notice that the green signal that shows that a track is playing does not work on the track stack track (see attachment). Is there any way I can show that signal? It's handy when the stack is un-disclosed and I want to know that instruments in that stack are playing.
  15. Doesn't seem to be changed in the updated Logic Pro X 10.2.0 (29-Aug-2015). Although I do see a convenient power like button near the snap menu on the piano roll that enables you to quickly turn snap on or off. I think Apple needs more user feedback on this issue to make this 'magnetic' option optional.
