  1. The lastest version of Scaler 2 -- 2.6 I think -- is Apple Silicon ready, so if you update/upgrade it you won't need Rosetta for that plug at least.
  2. Thanks very much for posting this. It worked perfectly for bringing my Camel Alchemy libraries from my old Mac Pro to my new Mac Studio.
  3. No particular template, and I'll look into mouse settings -- thanks. Magic Mouse (original version), btw; no extra 3rd-party drivers, and the only thing I have checked in System Prefs is secondary click/right side. Still wondering if it's just a video glitch...
  4. Yeah, a reboot definitely works, and even quitting/restarting Logic. I can deal with it; it's just slightly annoying, so I was wondering what's causing it in the first place.
  5. Every so often when I hover the mouse over the bottom edge of a track header, the cursor won't change from the pointer to the Individual Track Zoom icon. I can sometimes still vertically resize, but it's finnicky -- I have to click on exactly the right spot. Interestingly, the horizontal track header resize icon still appears as usual. When this happens, I also lose the fade, loop and resize icons along the edge of a region. (I have Fade Tool click zones enabled, and Marquee Tool click zones disabled). I can still DO these operations with the mouse, but it's a bit like running blind. The only way I've found to get the icons back is to quit and restart Logic. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be a video bug? I have a 5,1 Mac Pro with an ATI Radeon 5870 card which I know is a bit long in the tooth. I'm running 10.12.6 and LPX 10.4.1.

If that's what they're doing, it could account for the extra time it's taking. I'll bet they're also modernizing the remaining old-style plugin GUIs too.
  7. Yep, that would work too. I think the difference between to two Rogue Amoeba apps is that Audio Hijack captures audio to a file, and Loopback routes audio from one application to another. So the OP could stream audio from the DVD Player directly into Logic.
  8. Could you use something like Loopback to capture (in real time) the audio segments you need? https://rogueamoeba.com/loopback/
  9. Hmmm.... maybe it is a Metal thing. Visualization works fine on my 2012 MBP, but not on my 2010 Mac Pro with Radeon 5770.
  10. Thanks very much, Eric -- worked fine; everything seems normal in Logic. Only little glitch is that I can't delete the (now empty) ~/Library/Application Support/Logic folder. "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items." Tried using Get Info to change permissions -- no go. Is there a Terminal command that'll delete the folder?
  11. I've had previous versions of Logic (9, 8, etc.) installed, but the apps are long since deleted. So I have the duplicate Application Support/Logic and Music/Audio Music Apps folders. I understand one of them's a hard link (but I don't fully understand how that works). I don't plan on going to High Sierra anytime soon, but is there anything I could do preemptively to avoid the problems discussed above? Can the two folders be "consolidated" (I know that's not the right word) -- can the hard link be eliminated? Thanks.... [edit] Sorry -- need to update my profile -- I'm on 10.12.6, LPX 10.3.2
  12. There's an in-depth article from the May 2009 SOS here: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may09/articles/it_0509.htm ... goes through Greg K's setup (8-core Mac Pro with 8GB RAM) and the plugins he used (ONLY Logic 8 stock plugs!).
  13. ADM is a great sounding drum plug, but using it can be pretty confusing... That note you put into the piano roll -- the MIDI note number corresponds to the ADM pattern you want to trigger. So if you hit MIDI note 40 (E1), it'll play ADM pattern 40. So usually you either pencil in one note #40 one bar long or record one note from your controller. Then loop or duplicate the region. And of course, ADM needs to be in Pattern mode and set to Host Sync.
  14. Hi -- everymac.com is a great resource, with detailed specs on, well, every Mac: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/index-macpro.html I also recently bought a used Mac Pro (6-core 3.33 made in 2011) from ipowerresale, and my experience matches kramerzone's. I've bought from PowerMax.com in the past; they have a solid reputation too.
