  1. Just relax... sylenth will go 64bit soon enough im sure - if they dont then they are frikken stupid.
  2. Thanks for the advice guys... yes, i gathered that I would not get what i wanted... The main reason I want to do a clean install is because, when I moved from Lion to Mountain lion I was presented with all sorts of issues, relating not to programs and stability - but to Audio, specifically with my Metric Halo interface... Now I know some people called me crazy as their systems where fine, however it was a very real issue, and when i presented the problem to the guys at MH they agreed with me and created a new driver specifically based on the problems i presented to them, as well as others with similar problems... For some reaosn that driver did not fix the problem, so i went back to Lion. Now my hard drive crashed a few weeks back and the only TIME MACHINE backup I had was the snapshot of the time, when I was having those exact problems... I now, thus do not have my previous lion back up to restore to, so I am stuck with very strange audio problems.. A lot of people on other forums believe my problems will be solved by doing a clean install as it was possibly some anomoly of bad code that happened when i did the update from lion to ML. So the issues plagueing the old system was the OS not the programs it seems!?!
  3. Hi guys, I want to do a clean install of OSX - is there anyway that I can do a clean install but restore my programs after? I really dont want or have the time to re-install Logic, Pro Tools, Komplete, countless sample libraries, one by one. Like perhaps a time machine back up that just restores everything but the OS to how it was before? Probably a long shot but worth a try
  4. Hi guys Still releatively new to logic and used to cubase in this regard Could someone please tell me how to add new tracks to existing multi-timbral instruments. Lets say i open up a multitimbral track with 4 tracks for my brass section - then I realise I want to add a french horn solo so i add that into kontakt. now how would i go about adding a new track to this instance of kontakt? I tried adding a new track and right click assigning it to the "inst 1" where contact is, but it seems to mirror one of the other tracks in that if i change its midi channel to 5 , one of the other 4 tracks also changes its midi channel - as if it was a duplicate of that track am i making sense? Also is there a way in which i can rename the multitimbral track to "strings" and when i add they are cascaded as strings 1, strings 2 etc.? look forward to your help and getting my score on with logic pro
  5. have you guys installed the new driver (5.4d219)? if so what are your experiences with it?
  6. I think what i must do perhaps is do a clean re-install of Mountain Lion, and the just back up my files and restore from time machine Can anyone tell me how I can do this? do i need a hardcopy?
  7. SO here is a funny thing... I have never in my life experienced any kind of start up lag with logic - click on the icon and project startup wizard is up in mere seconds... Now after updating to 9.1.8 logic is bouncing on the dock not doing anything for about 2 minutes (which is an age if you ask me) and then it finally opens. then after a chose a project from my templates it returns an error code (-10202) - selected driver not found - and then no audio drivers are available to select after that. this is some BS why do I continually dissapoint myself by updating software! Can someone please tell me how to revert safely back to 9.1.7??
  8. Hi guys quick update.... i have been speaking to Jon from MH and they have made a new driver - 5.4d219 (0876) that i just installed and upon first tests it seems to have fixed it.... will do thorough tests at all sample rates... but im confident that they have found the problem
  9. Um.. well i would of thought so, however there have been reports of other cards with the same issue. However I have not been able (upon a brief test) to replicate the problem with my MR816... So perhaps it is. There are confirmed reports of Line 6 and Native Instrument devices and drivers with the same issue. In any case I have opened up a dialog wiht MH's awesome support guys and we are getting to the bottom of it soon i hope. I will keep you updated
  10. Just so you guys know myself and the guys from metric halo have confirmed that their are some core audio issues with mountain lion. I am really wondering how many from this forum have experienced and problems? it does not seem to be confined to metric halo units as some people with other interfaces have experienced these problems... although it seems quite rare. Basically what is happening is crackling on input... like a sample rate crackling or something - really nasty. Playback is 100% fine. Metric Halo have investigated this and reproduced the problem at their labs.... it only seems to happen when an internet browser is on whcih they think may be linked to flash or something. there is a workaround on my MH ULN-2 unit where i just reset the clock and it goes away - sometimes, not always. Its real annoying. So, just something for you guys to consider if you were thinking of migrating to the mountain cat... maybe hang off it til 10.8.3
  11. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone on here had any experience in radio stations? I know its a tad off topic, this being a logic forum and all, but since its a community filled with respectable audio buffs then I thought i would just try! A friend of a friend has asked me to help him with a contract where he is supplying equipment and helping setup some small radio stations around the country... Im Im farily adept and confident at studio stuff , digital and analog I/O, equipment etc, but i have never even been into a broadcast station... Does anyone have any resources I can check out and read up on? I just dont wanna seem like an ass and unsure of myself. I assume that the equipment and connections are very similar to a music studio environment in terms of mics, compressors etc. but beyond that im in the dark! Advice would be greatly appreciated, if there are any links you could share with or books on amazon etc
  12. thanks! can't believe I didn't notice that sooner! was driving me nutz!
  13. I think i worked it out, they were both part of a folder that was situated on the one Ultrabeat track... So im I right in assuming that all midi events in a folder will trigger the instrument track that the folder is on? (provided that the folder is on a instrument track and not a normal folder track...
  14. Hi guys Please please someone help me, driving me crazy... I have a track im working on, and every time I try to Add another ultrabeat to get some different drum sounds, the new ultrabeat triggers the original Ultrabeat instrument track... If i play notes with a midi controller, it triggers the new ultrabeat patch fine, but as soon as i program something or audition sounds in the piano roll, it triggers the old/existing ultrabeat channel.. Even if I record from my midi keyboard, the notes in realtime are triggering the right sounds form that interment, but when i play back, the midi events are triggering the other track. This is really confusing and frustrating! Is it something to do with the environment? I tried reassigning track and it is assigned to the correct ultrabeat track, so its not that i don't think... Dave
