  1. From all the synths that I tried to make the Have a Cigar Patch, I think that I nailed it on synthmaster. I liked the patch that you did for this song bookwin69.
  2. Mainstage 3.2.1 was released last week and fixed those issues to me.
  3. Use a set! Is the right way to go. Add the playback at the set level.
  4. Happens with me on Mainstage pretty boring. Can I deduce that the problem is the same? My permissions: drwxrwxrwx 244 waltercruz staff 8296 Mar 15 09:44 Caches -rw-r--r-- 1 waltercruz staff 612801 Mar 15 09:17 com.apple.audiounits.cache
  5. Don't know if it will run faster, but it will allow sample player like exs24 and kontakt to see all the memory that you have. If using kontakt, you can load a large prebuffer from your samples on RAM, and make the things easy on disk. The same can be done with EXS24.
  6. I have no separeted account. And the mac that I use for playing live is my everyday mac! I just have 8GB of RAM, and had installed a 7200rpm disc. No WIFI while playing, And playing always on full screen or performance mode (these modes disable Time Machine, as stated here: http://help.apple.com/mainstage/mac/2.2/en/mainstage/usermanual/index.html#chapter=2%26section=4%26tasks=true ). To reduce the load of your concert, use the copy as alias wisely. I never had issues with mainstage itself, sometimes, I had some issues with third part plugins. But mainstage, to me, works pretty well.
  7. Excelent tips. I'm using Mainstage 2.2.1 on a Core2Duo with 8 GB of RAM, running on 64 bit. My desire was to upgrade to a i7, but it won be feasible pretty soon, so maybe I will update my HD to a momentus XT (750 GB 7200rpm+8GB SSD). There's a setting to load exs24 samples on 32 bit, requires more RAM and less CPU (see the item Sample Storage here: http://documentation.apple.com/en/logicexpress/instruments/index.html#chapter=9%26section=24%26tasks=true)
  8. Hey, just saw your answers today I'm downloading the patch and will test. BTW, I have made a On The Run version with ES2.. Just a rough draft, but made all in ES2, with no arpeggiators or sequencers, just plain mainstage. [soundcloud] [/soundcloud] I use mainstage on the practice with the band, but live I normally carry the motif xs rack together, to supply some patches and give me sensation of security
  9. Hmmm.. pretty close Is this using just Logic/Mainstage Synths? How do you suggest me to playing this live? Besides mainstage, my another synth is a Motif XS Rack, maybe I can get a closer patch on it? Don't know if this is useful to someone, but according to various sources, the original synth on this is a Arp Quadra, and was played by James Guthrie (like most of the synths on The Wall album). Arp Quadra has a arpeggiator (altough not sure if the original was a arpeggiator). Thanks on advance!
  10. This is what I have managed to do until now: [soundcloud] [/soundcloud] After trying to use the Vector Engine, I come to a much simpler idea, using a LFO synced with the host. I put a screenshot here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/573540/Empty-Spaces-ES2-LFO.png It will work, but it's not 100%. It's a kind of arpeggiator, but it doesn't trigger the attack on all the notes (and Mainstage doesn't have a arpeggiator). I think that the Vector Envelope is the way to go. Well, if someone can shed some light here I will be happy
  11. Not sure if I should post it here or ir Logic topic dingdangdawg from apple forums pointed me this forum, I think that he is here too. Well, I'm trying to recreate a patch from pink floyd, the song empty spaces, from the wall. After a lot of researches, and after trying to run kirnu - a arpeggiator audio unit - and causing a midi feedback (microphony?) and seeing a black screen of death twice, I found that maybe ES2 with the vector engine could be the sane way to do this patch. But I need help from experts: What should I modulate? I'm trying to modulate the filter cutoff, it's close, but I think that I can get better. The patch is the one that shows at 48 seconds of this video: Thanks on advance!
