  1. Ok thanks for that. I have a Time Machine backup from a couple of weeks ago. Might go that route, or see if Rosetta will allow me to work while we wait for the OS fix.
  2. Argh.. discovering this thread too late! I updated to 14.4 last night and now Logic throws up an error message when loading East West Opus and it won’t run a project thereafter, I just have to quit. It will only run under Rosetta. I’m going to try updating Licence Manager and contacting East West support.
  3. I only have 2 keyboards connected to the computer, each by a USB cable. No other midi cabling or interface. One keyboard is plugged into the back of the computer, the other one to the (non-midi) keyboard. I’ll try them tomorrow with different cables but I doubt that’s the problem as they seem to work fine to input notes and change articulations etc.
  4. Yes I'm sure there might well be missing note off events, it's just locating them and finding what's causing them that's the problem. I tried downgrading my version of VEP because some people have found the latest one to be problematic but that didn't change anything. I have a couple of midi keyboards plugged in via USB so I might try running the project without them connected to see what happens. Not sure how else to troubleshoot the PC though so if you've any thoughts about that I'd appreciate it.
  5. So I did as you suggested and took the ULN-2 right out of the circuit by unplugging it from the mains and also from the computer. Running the project through the computer's built-in output I am still getting the hanging notes, by which I mean notes that play continuously, often whether the sequencer is running or not.
  6. Yes my ULN-2 is only connected to the computer by FireWire and also to my monitors. There are no midi connections, not even sure it has any but I’ll check that. So unless somehow the audio side or the driver or whatever is affecting the midi performance I don’t see how it can be the culprit. I will try eliminating it anyway and see what happens. Thanks again.
  7. Ok I will try that thanks. It will have to wait til tomorrow as it’s night time here but it’s certainly worth a try. Having said that, I have worked on numerous projects using the same setup without any such issues arising. Mind you when I plugged the ULN in the other day it failed to turn on so maybe it has developed a fault. Seemed ok since then though. However I’ve had it for about 16 years so it’s certainly possible that there’s a fault. Not sure how it would affect midi though as surely it’s only dealing with the audio..
  8. Hi folks. I'm having a terrible problem with more or less constant single notes hanging, both during playback and when the sequencer is stopped. I have an orchestral template set up with Vienna Ensemble Pro running on a slave PC. I use the Play version of Hollywood Orchestra for all instruments. This is happening in one of the flutes and sometimes the English Horn, though it has been other instruments as well such as strings in the past. There is nothing in the setup to distinguish these instruments from any of the others - it seems random as to which instruments hang. I have to keep 'stopping all notes' in Play but this only works for a few minutes then as soon as I run the sequencer, the hanging starts up again. It is so bad that I cannot continue working on this project until it's sorted. I have tried changing the audio device to the built-in output instead of my midi interface and lowering and raising the I/O buffer size, all to no avail. I also have Scripter on all the tracks running a script which applies all cc's such as mod wheel and expression to all channels within each instance of Vienna Ensemble Pro. I have tried bypassing all these Scripter instances but again that does nothing. I wonder if anyone has any idea what might be causing this and how to fix it? Thanks.
  9. The bounce-in-place only worked partially. Many of the recordings still sound different to the midi versions, lower in volume or e.g. cymbal hits not having the same tone. This is quite marked in some cases. I also tried bouncing tracks in place for some keyboard instruments and the problem I generally get with bip when using the slave setup happened again. I get the start of a note but no sustain on most instruments this way. Can anyone shed any light on why this is so? To be clear, with VEPro hosting orchestral samples on a pc slave I get this note start but no sustain when bouncing tracks or regions in place. This didn’t happen for some reason with the percussion instruments but does happen with all others. Which is why I generally have to bounce all midi tracks to audio in real time. The problem with that seems to be that many of these recordings sound quite different to the original midi versions, which takes me back to the original query.
  10. I don't think it's anything to do with the monitoring setup as these tracks are the only ones showing such anomalies. With all other tracks I get an exact copy of the midi. I tried a bounce-in-place with these tracks and an early listen sounded promising. Am going to go through them in more detail a bit later to see how true they are to the midi versions.
  11. My setup involves using VEPro on a slave PC to host Play and orchestral samples. I always mix in audio as I find it easier that way however I cannot bounce tracks or regions in place as I find that doesn't capture the instruments' sounds properly once a slave system is involved. So what I do is create a bunch of audio tracks to correspond with the midi tracks and assign buses to the midi tracks' outputs and the audio tracks' inputs and then bounce them in real time. This works fine with normal tracks but I have run into a problem when trying to bounce this way from multi-instrument tracks. I set up the buses etc. in the mixer but I find that some of the bounced tracks come out very different to the original midi tracks in terms of volume and timbre, so much so that they are unusable. Take for example a multi-instrument hosting various orchestral percussion instruments - cymbals sound significantly lower in volume and don't decay in the same way, or other similar anomalies like a gong decaying but then suddenly going up in volume towards the end of the hit. I should surely be able to get a recording that is an exact copy of the midi tracks but it is hit and miss with some instruments sounding ok and others really not. So I am wondering if anyone can shed any light on this as to why I am not getting an exact copy of the midi tracks and also what is the best way to achieve this when printing multi-instrument midi tracks to audio. Thanks.
  12. Here's what I mean: Those sliders being visible in the little window seem to mean that the position of the object doesn't remain fixed when I navigate between windows. At least that's what's happening here. Have read the relevant section in the manual but can't find how to make them disappear like they have in your example.
  13. Just one thing - I have done as you suggested yet the window 'position' sliders are still visible which means that although I've locked the screenset, when I go to another screenset and then come back to it the fader is in a different position in its window and no longer properly visible. How do I get it to look like yours, i.e. without those sliders and fixed in the centre of its window?
  14. Ah great, thanks guys. Yes I had forgotten that the readout is available in the Custom transport window. That might be enough, though that's an excellent suggestion as well David to make the fader visible. I will create that as well methinks. Brilliant!
