thanks, just wondering what to do with the NOVATION 1.0 version. Do I move that over to the TRASH and then install the 1.5.1 version Or do i just install the 1.5.1 version in the COMPONENTS and it will overide the 1.0 version. I hope instaling the 1.0 did not clutter the REGISTRY like things do in WINDOWS. Or does the MAC PRO LEOPARD not have a registry.

well, i am new to MAC PRO adn Leopard with LOGIC PRO. I used LOGIC 5.5.1 om PC FOR YEARS (until 2 weeks ago)AND ALL INSTALLATIONS WERE SO EASY. Everything made sense. About 4 years ago I bought Novation V-station v ers. 1.0 (on CD) and put it in my VST folder. I decided to TONIGHT put the Mac AU version from the disk into my MAC PRO. For starters - there was no option of which folder to put it in. Just went ahead and Mac Leopard did the rest. I opened up LOGIC and could not get the V-STATION to come up as an option as a softsynth. Crikees - the MAC finder system. I barely found where the application ended up It ended up here Library/Audio//plugins/componenets/Novation V-station why COMPONENTS ????? . iT IS AN OPTION WITH HAL MAS and VST What have I done wrong and is it because the latest V-Station version is now 1.5.1. ALSo how does one un-install plug-ins in Leopard. Is it as simple as putting the plug-in in the TRASH. Windows XP of course and the uninstall programs in the GLOBAL PANEL

mmmm thats different. Why could I not put third party plug ins on the main drive when I have been doing that on my PC.

YEP WITH MY new MAC PRO and LOGIC PRO after 5 years of LOGIC 5.5.1 for PC. The reason why i am asking is that. Previously I had LOGIC 5 on the primary drive as well as 3rd party plugins and softsynths and sample libraries like BATTERY 2 and 3. My secondary drive had all the LOGIC songs and audio files. I was told that that was the best way to do it. And I have had no trouble. I have decided to have 2 drives again with the MAC PRO. THe second drive will be a 72000 speed DRIVE. These drives are big in GIGS. BUT APPARENTLY LOGIC PRO has an enormous amount of sample libraries. So if I put LOGIC in the primary drive, should i put all the sample libraries there or on the 2nd drive with the audio files. I am even thinking of getting a third external drive for sample based libraries like the EAST WEST stuff. Or maybe i will be putting the EAST WEST stuff on the primary drive. Are there any rules with regards to this - as I am extremely excited about having a MAC PRO and would like to experience the full speed after working on a 2.8 PENTIUM computer which would immediately show CPU OVERLOAD after playing one note of the MASSIVE soft synth.

youguys. First of all - Happy New Year. Just bought a mac pro ADN logic pro AFTER USING logic 5.5.1 ON pc FOR 5 GREAT YEARS. LOGI PRO looks abit different compared to LOGIC 5 - are thevideos good enough to get me going/ and have a thorough knowledge of LOGI PRO I hate reading books and the sample videos are fantastic and i learnt those tips immediatel. Do the videos cover enough or do i still need to get a book. I am ick of reading and want to be spoon fed.

well i have just yesterday bought the MAC PRO and LOGIC PRO (my first ever MAC) after working on LOGIC 5 FOR PC. I was using VST instruments - Novation V-station, Battery 2 and Absynth 3 Now apparently when my computer arrives it will have theLEOPARD operating system. Will VST instruments play on LEOPARD or do I have to get AU VERSIONS, whatever that is. Is there a chance that LEOPARD- because it is so new might not play any of those SOFTSYNTHS.

i am going to use the EAST WEST orcestral and choir samples and according to a downloaded video on how to set up East West stuff in LOGIC. the ENVIORONMENT is used and I have no understanding of what is happening on the video, plus there is no sound on the VIdeo.

well after slaving away on LOGIC 5 for PC until today. I bought the LOGIC PRO and MAC PRO computer. took the plunge. David might be shocked !!!!!!!! i never got the handle on the envioronment. will be using Symphonic Choirs & Symphonic Gold eition by East West. Is there any place where good onlie explanations can help me put this all together. There must be someplace where the envioronment is properly explained.

yep with all the advancements and push for higher bit rates and frquency rates. Does LOGIC PRO record nicely at 44.1 and 16 bit like thegood old days. Or are all sorts of dithers and whatever trying to interfere.

Yes just wondering if i should get the new MAC computers. How do they handle LOGIC and have people noticed any problems and i should just wait a while before puchasing the 8 core new machine. Does Logic only use 2 cores anyway?

the interesting thing is. with my LOGIC 5.5.1 for PC, in a piece that i am doing, when i have my software monitoring on, i have to put the MIDI syncronisation to -17 ms for the hardware to match the rest of the stuff. I like to bounce the sound of midi sequences triggering off my hardware synths with some audio tracks. somehow when i bounce it is all there. i do not understand why LOGIC 5.5.1 can bounce both audio and sequence generating hardware synths at the same time i thought one had to first record evrthing ot .wav files how will LOGIC PRO handle that.

Also in my tracks in the PC i use ABSNTH 3, AND NOVATION V-STATION. i HAVE MADE SOME OF MY OWN PATCHES. hOW ON EARTH WILL apple logic ADJUST TO this. as these plug-ins are in VST what will happen when i transfer the song where these plug-ins are supposed to be AU.

yep i am finally ready right now!!!! to move to Apple Logic having learnt Logic 5.5.1 on PC. My PC is about to die, and i want to buy an APPLE MAC. and upgrade to LOGIC PRO. i bought the LOGIC 5.5.1 for PC 2nd hand so I have a dongle. Is this okay for upgrading or do i have to go to my freind (seller) and get him involved in this upgrade process. Also to DAVID, please tell me which is the best APPLE COMPUTER to get with the quietest fans. Also i guess my Delta 1010 soundcard will not be able to be used. Please advise me on this. urgent - i want to complete a project

i tried. but version 4 onwards will not work, it seems version 3.8 or something like that used to work on LOGIC 5.5.1 but now one is in trouble if they want to use waves with LOGIC 5.5.1. i also suggest the Kjerhus audio stuff for mastering stuff - ie their limiters and compressors - FABULOUSLY TRANSPARENT. if you want to use the glorious LOGIC 5.5.1
